Job description

Do you want your writing to inspire, educate, and engage a wider audience while supporting our mission to grow communities and cultivate change?

About Willowbrook Farm Charity

Willowbrook Farm Charity, based in Oxfordshire, is dedicated to nurturing sustainable and equitable communities. Through hands-on experiences in sustainability, ethical farming, and biodiversity, we help people reconnect with nature and learn how to live in harmony with the planet. We are an inclusive charity, welcoming people of all backgrounds, especially those facing barriers to green spaces.

As we expand our outreach, we are launching a new Blog to share stories, insights, and news on sustainability, ethical farming, and protecting the natural world.

What will you be doing?

We are seeking a talented Volunteer Writer to help us develop high-quality written content for our upcoming blog. This role is ideal for someone with professional writing experience who is passionate about nature, sustainability, ethical farming, and environmental awareness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and write engaging blog articles (topics may include sustainability, biodiversity, ethical farming, community stories, and environmental issues)
  • Use storytelling to bring our projects and values to life
  • Ensure content is accessible, accurate, and aligned with our charity’s ethos
  • Support the development of thought pieces and news items to raise awareness of key issues
  • Work closely with the Director and team to identify themes and opportunities for content

What are we looking for?

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Professional writing experience (journalism, blogging, creative, or technical writing)
  • Excellent level of written English, with strong grammar and style
  • Strong research skills and ability to understand complex subjects clearly
  • Genuine interest in sustainability, biodiversity, ethical farming, and protecting the planet
  • Ability to write in a way that is engaging and accessible for a wide audience
  • Alignment with Willowbrook Farm Charity’s mission and values

Desirable:

  • Experience writing for charities, nonprofits, or advocacy organisations
  • Familiarity with SEO, blog publishing platforms, or content strategy
  • Knowledge of environmental and social issues

What We Offer

  • A chance to use your professional writing skills for real social and environmental impact
  • Flexible volunteering that fits around your schedule
  • The opportunity to be published and credited on our charity’s blog
  • A reference or LinkedIn recommendation after 3+ months
  • A warm, inclusive community of people working together for a fairer, greener future

Time commitment

One or two articles a month is all we ask.

What difference will you make?

Your words will help us:

  • Raise awareness of sustainability, biodiversity, and ethical farming
  • Educate and inspire our community to take action for the planet
  • Amplify the voices of those often excluded from environmental conversations
  • Strengthen Willowbrook Farm Charity’s role as a grassroots hub for change
