At Watford & Three Rivers Refugee Partnership, our objective is to provide practical and emotional support, ultimately helping our clients achieve a sustainable position as full members of our society. Many of our clients are destitute, homeless and have no access to assistance from the government. Our mission is to provide access to advice and essential services until statutory services are in place.

Volunteering as a Social Media Volunteer provides an opportunity for you to help promote the charity to current and potential clients as well as the wider community, which could attract donors and other volunteers. As well as this it will be a way for you to develop your social media and computer skills, gain experience volunteering for a charity and also it will be an interesting addition to your CV!

Full training will be given on starting the role, including safeguarding, as well as regular training sessions and continual support from other volunteers.

Responsibilities:

· Updating the charity’s Facebook, X and Instagram pages regularly (ideally at least weekly).

· Liaising with other volunteers from other services to gather photos and information to post prior to and after events/sessions.

· Attend and take photos of the bigger charity events throughout the year.

· Try to gain more followers and traction through social media.

· Reply to comments, share posts and stories and follow relevant local and national organisations.

Requirements:

· 1-2 ad/hoc hours a week.

· Complete training as required and attend bi-monthly volunteer support meetings.

Skills:

· An ability to communicate and empathise with people from a variety of backgrounds and needs.

· Basic IT and social media skills.

Transport Support Volunteer

Watford and Three Refugees Partnership is a charity offering practical and emotional support to asylum seekers, migrants and refugees in Watford and Three Rivers. We are looking for a team of volunteers who have time to support our clients in the community.

Would you like to join a team within our charity that provides more practical support to our clients?

Some examples of support includes;

· Helping with house moves

· Collecting furniture that is being donated and drop off at client’s homes

· Lifts to attend appointments if the client struggles using public transport

You must have access to your own vehicle. You will work as part of a supportive team and it can fit around work and caring commitments. You will be able to claim mileage at 45p per mile and parking costs as expenses. We will need proof that your driving documents are up to date, including informing your insurance that you are using your car for ‘business’ purposes (usually at no extra cost).

Our Volunteer Community Pet Speakers play a vital role in educating and inspiring communities by sharing important pet care messaging with diverse audiences, tailoring their approach to their own strengths and interests.

By supporting the Community Programmes team, you will help inform and educate pet owners in key areas through workshops, community events, and outreach activities.

What will I be doing:

• Shadowing staff to train in school workshop delivery and / or leading stands at community events, across our key areas of Peterborough & Fenland.
• Once trained, delivering pet welfare and dog safety sessions to primary age children in schools, youth clubs and to uniform groups.
• Running interactive event stands at various community events to share essential information on caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small pets.

• When in a school environment ensure you follow the schools and Woodgreen’s safeguarding policy. This includes making sure you are never alone with a student and a member of school staff is always present during sessions.
• If you’re performing a task for Woodgreen in the community alone, always have a designated point of contact, as outlined in our lone working policy. Your safety is our priority!
• Until your training record is fully signed off, we ask that you don’t give direct advice. Instead, you can help by guiding pet owners to the right support services or making a referral to an education or outreach Officer who can assist them. This ensures pet owners get the best possible help.
• An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

A full induction will be provided for this role which will need to be completed prior to commencing volunteering.  If driving to schools/appointments you will be expected to comply with driving licence checks and the Charity’s Driver and Vehicle policy.
