We are recruiting volunteers to oversee and help at Pride stalls across the UK.  

It Gets Better UK is making the world a better place for LGBTQ+ youth. LGBTQ+ youth in the UK face serious mental health challenges, worsened by societal stigma, discrimination, and a lack of support: 1 in 5 LGBTQ+ young people have experienced suicidal thoughts, and 33% have self-harmed.​

In a world which often tells LGBTQ+ young people not to be themselves, we're providing LGBTQ+ youth with the tools, resources, and support they need to navigate their identities safely, and know they are not alone and that their futures are filled with possibility. We collect and share the stories of LGBTQ+ adults who've been there themselves, to help LGBTQ+ young people find a community where they can see themselves reflected and envisage a future worth experiencing.

At Pride, we share positive stories from members of the LGBTQ+ community. We encourage attendees to share their story, message to their younger self, or message of support. The conversations we have are uplifting and often emotional. 

What will I be doing? 

• Choose one or more Pride events which you commit to attending with us. 

• Help set up and tidy up stand at beginning/end of event. 

• Welcome people to the stall, invite them to learn about stories from others in the community, and share their own stories.

• Support fundraising and raising awareness with our branded badges. 

• Engage event participants in positive messaging opportunities and story-collecting via our whiteboards: “a message to my younger self”. 

• Get photo consent from participants so that we can share their messages on our platforms. 

• Help produce video messages, recording participants' stories of hope. 

• Promote volunteering roles within It Gets Better and let people know to how to get involved. 

• Signpost people to our resources and how we can support them. 

• Listen to stall attendees’ stories with warmth and respect.

Time commitment: Pride events are usually Saturdays in June, July, August. Full-day or half-day. 

Support for you: You’ll receive our Volunteer Handbook and attend a briefing. Each stall will have multiple volunteers so nobody is alone.

Key tasks

• Design Development: Create visually compelling graphics for use across social media, email, web, presentations, and print

• Brand Consistency: Ensure all visual materials align with Roots Academy’s brand guidelines and Islamic values

• Content Support: Collaborate with the social media and education teams to translate ideas and scripts into polished, engaging visuals

• Campaign Assets: Support event and program launches by designing posters, promo kits, and other visual collateral

• Template Creation: Build easy-to-edit templates for internal teams to use (e.g., Canva or Google Slides)

• Revision & Feedback: Adapt designs based on team feedback while maintaining efficiency and quality

• Trend Awareness: Stay up to date on design and content trends, especially within the faith-based and youth development space

• Project Management: Maintain organized design files and deliver work in a timely manner

What we’re looking for

• Strong design portfolio demonstrating creativity, clarity, and alignment with brand guidelines

• Experience using tools like Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Figma

• Attention to detail and a strong sense of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy

• Ability to take direction while contributing creative input

• A deep understanding of Islamic values and visual modesty in design

• Experience designing for social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok)

Our Education Officer, Laura Chepner, coordinates the Vegan Campout Family Marquee each year and is looking for an enthusiastic assistant. This role begins with some remote administrative support and builds up to on-site assistance a few days before the festival. You would be required on site from Tuesday 26th August, supporting Laura, up to the morning of Friday 29 August when you will clock off. After that, you’re free to enjoy the rest of the festival from Saturday onwards (free ticket included). vegv

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in gaining hands-on experience in events or festival planning, while gaining an exclusive behind-the-scenes insight into one of the UK’s most successful vegan festivals. 

Why do we need you? 

Vegan Campout's Family Marquee is growing year on year and we want to ensure it continues to be a welcoming, engaging and successful space for children and families. To achieve this, we need a dedicated and capable volunteer to support Laura Chepner, our Education Officer, in preparing and delivering an event that gets better every year. As the marquee evolves and expands, so too does the work required behind the scenes – and your help will be vital in making this year the most successful yet. 

What does the role involve? 

In the months leading up to the festival, you’ll support Laura with various administrative tasks, including managing emails and maintaining Excel spreadsheets. This support will gradually increase as the event draws nearer. 

You may also assist in liaising with volunteers and artists, collecting and managing essential information such as DBS certificates and first aid qualifications. 

From Tuesday 26 August, you’ll be on-site helping with the physical setup of the marquee, coordinating deliveries, arranging activities and supporting logistical tasks. You’ll also help liaise with partners and sponsors to ensure everything is in place and ready for the opening day. 

What training and support is available? 

There is no formal training required. You will be working closely with Laura, who will guide and support you throughout the entire process. 

What skills would be useful in doing this role? 

We are looking for a volunteer who is: 

• Proficient in administrative tasks 
• Confident using Microsoft Office, especially Excel 
• Organised, reliable and dependable 
• Friendly with strong people skills 
• Comfortable managing communications and coordinating information 

What does my availability need to be? 

*Non-negotiable – You must be available to arrive on-site at Campout from Tuesday 26 August and remain until the morning of Friday 29 August. Food and breaks will be fully catered for during this period. 

In the months leading up to the festival, there will be a few hours of admin support required each week. From May onwards and this will gradually increase, reaching a maximum of around 16 hours per week across June, July and August.

Role Summary:

The Admin and Workflow Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the team by managing administrative tasks and identifying opportunities to enhance workflow, communication, and overall team efficiency. This role requires a proactive, organized, and detail-oriented individual who can think strategically.

Key tasks

Administrative Support:

• Manage scheduling, meeting coordination, and internal communications.

• Maintain organized records, documentation, and data systems.

• Provide support in preparing reports, presentations, and team materials.

Team Efficiency & Workflow:

• Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in team workflows and propose solutions.

• Develop and implement systems or processes to improve collaboration and productivity.

• Monitor team tools and platforms (Notion, Slack & Drive), ensuring they are up-to-date and used effectively.

• Collaborate with team leads to set and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for internal operations.

Communication & Coordination:

7th Perthshire (Methven) Scout Group are looking to recruit a Chair of Trustees. 

About us:We are a small yet active charity running scouting groups (Beavers Cubs and Scouts) for young people aged 6-14 living in and around Methven, Perthshire. The ethos of the group aligns with the core principles of Scouting which aims to teach young people “Skills for Life”. All scouting activities in Methven are provided by a dedicated group of volunteers, overseen by a Board of Trustees to which we now seek to recruit a new Chairperson. The Chair plays a pivotal role in leading and guiding the charity towards achieving its aims and objectives. This position requires a dynamic individual who can ensure effective governance and strategic direction. The role is for 3 years initially, as per our constitution.

Duties

• Lead and preside over Trustee meetings (approximately 4-5 per year), ensuring that discussions are productive and focused on achieving outcomes.
• Develop agendas in collaboration with other board members, ensuring all relevant topics are covered.
• Foster an inclusive environment where all members feel valued and encouraged to contribute.
• Represent the organisation at public events, as necessary, effectively communicating its vision and objectives.
• Oversee the implementation of policies and strategies set by the board, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
• Help to set budgets and manage the charities finances to enable it to perform its duties and fulfil its vision.

Additional Information

• This is a volunteer role and attracts no remuneration, however reasonable expenses will be covered.
• Although this role does not require the successful candidate to directly work with young people it will require an enhanced PVG.
• The Board of Trustees meet approximately 4-5 times a year, usually for up to 2 hours at a time.  Additional time outside of trustee meetings will likely be required to follow up on actions agreed by the Board. This role could be performed as a hybrid role as some meetings could be run online, however an in-person presence at the AGM each year is essential.  The AGM is held where the charity operates, in Methven, Perthshire.
• Training both for this role, and about Scouts as an organisation and charity will be delivered online in an on-demand format. The successful candidate will be expected to complete this before taking up the role in September 2025.  Further ongoing support and training is offered both online and in person to enable the successful candidate to enhance their skills, learn new skills as required and network with other volunteers across the wider organisation.

Introduction

The Passage is establishing a new Special Events Fundraising Committee to support the Senior Events and Community Manager, with the primary goal of growing income from Special Events and attracting new supporters to The Passage.

Purpose of the Committee

• The purpose of the committee is to support The Passage’s Senior Events and Community Manager in delivering successful fundraising events that generate significant income and expand The Passage’s network of supporters. Specifically, the Committee will:

We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

About you

You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers.

You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.

You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the local area the group to carry out this role.
