Children With Voices (CWV) is a grassroots charity supporting children, young people, and families through alternative education, life-skills programmes, wellbeing activities, and community food hubs.

Role Overview

As a Youth Mentor, you will provide emotional, practical and wellbeing support to young people who need a positive role model. You will help build resilience, confidence, and healthy life-skills.

Why we need your help

We provide free games and activity sessions with tailored support for children with additional needs and disabilities. We support over 100 children, known as our ‘athletes’, with a wide range of additional needs, including autism, cerebral palsy, non-visible disabilities, and global development delay. At KEEN London, we strive to use fun and games to improve young people's wellbeing, and personal, social and emotional development as well as broadening experiences to increase skills and confidence.

Purpose of the role

Our Volunteer Coaches are the backbone of a KEEN London session! You’ll provide one-to-one support to an athlete, helping them to access all the activities on offer, achieve their personal development goals, and of course have tons of fun! You can expect to get involved with a wide range of playground games, ball games, nature walks, and creative activities. From time to time, we also run trips for our athletes, and previous trips have included trampoline parks, high ropes courses, pedalo boating and slime-making classes.

Tasks and activities

● You’ll support our athletes to engage with the session, and have fun while they’re doing it.

● You’ll help our Service Coordinators develop goals for our athletes, track their progress, and give them lots of encouragement along the way.

● You’ll work with your Service Coordinators and fellow Coaches to come up with new games, develop resources, and plan activities.

● We want our athletes to enjoy being active, making friends, and trying new things - and we want you to join in the activities with them!

● Our athletes love working with energetic and enthusiastic people, and we’ll ensure that all your hard work will be rewarded with a great time.

Please note: To ensure that you are equipped and ready to take on this role, there is a thorough application process which includes but is not limited to: an information session, an in-person onboarding training evening, an enhanced DBS check, reference checks and a safeguarding quiz. All elements of the onboarding process have to be completed satisfactorily before you can start volunteering in this role.

Volunteer with Refugee Young People - Help with Homework and Activities

Programme: Future Foundations - Katherine Low Settlement

Join our Future Foundations programme and support young people from refugee and newly arrived backgrounds to thrive in school and beyond. Each club blends focused homework support with fun, creative activities that help build confidence, friendships and a sense of belonging. What is an Independent Visitor?

An Independent Visitor (IV) is a volunteer befriender and mentor who visits a young person in care once a month, usually on weekends, to enjoy fun, supportive activities together. As an IV, you’ll be a consistent, caring adult outside their professional network - someone who chooses to be there, just for them.

This is a long-term role, and we ask volunteers to commit to at least two years to help build a strong, stable relationship.

We are currently prioritising and seeking applications from volunteers based in the Croydon or Kent area where we have a greater need for volunteers to support childen and young people.

Young people in care often face instability and frequent change. Having a consistent adult who listens, encourages and simply spends time with them can be life changing.

Make A Smile is a UK charity dedicated to bringing joy, play, and magical experiences to children facing illness, disability, or disadvantage. The Sign Language Officer leads Make A Smile’s British Sign Language (BSL) and Makaton training programme, ensuring volunteers gain the communication skills needed to create magical, inclusive interactions at events. Key Responsibilities

You will play a central role in developing and delivering high‑quality sign language training. Responsibilities include:

● Overseeing BSL and Makaton teachers and supporting them in running weekly sessions.

● Recruiting suitable teachers or supporting new teachers to develop their skills to the required level.

● Ensuring the charity can offer training at multiple levels (Beginners, Improvers, Novice, Intermediate) for both BSL and Makaton.

● Reviewing and approving lesson plans, ensuring content focuses on vocabulary and phrases useful for Make A Smile events.

● Managing volunteer applications for training, selecting participants based on commitment and likelihood of attending events.

● Supporting weekly sessions by ensuring attendance is taken, volunteers are engaged, and teachers have the resources they need.

● Stepping in to run a session or arranging cover if a teacher is unavailable.

● Monitoring volunteer engagement and removing volunteers from the programme if attendance or participation is consistently poor.

Tell My Truth and Shame the Devil is a bold and transformative Community Interest Company (C.I.C.) founded by Mrs. Vienna St Hillaire. Our mission is to create a powerful platform for truth-telling, healing, and systemic change—focused on survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA), individuals from broken homes, and young people across all communities.

We are building more than a platform—we are building a movement, an infrastructure, and a legacy system that will:

• Amplify unheard voices
• Provide pathways to healing and opportunity
• Train and employ young people through digital, media, and community-led initiatives
• Challenge and reshape narratives within underserved communities

We are in the early but active stages of development, with a growing volunteer base and foundational systems already forming.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Founding HR Director to join our core leadership team and take full ownership of building and scaling our HR function from the ground up.

This is not a traditional HR role.

This is a legacy-building position for someone who wants to:

• Architect a world-class HR ecosystem

• Build systems that support both people and mission at scale

Your Mission

To design, build, and lead a high-impact, future-ready HR department that supports:

• A growing volunteer and workforce base
• International recruitment and sponsorship
• Safeguarding and wellbeing for vulnerable communities
• A culture rooted in truth, accountability, and healing

Key Responsibilities

1. HR Strategy & Infrastructure (Foundational Build)

• Design and implement the entire HR architecture from scratch
• Develop policies, frameworks, and SOPs aligned with UK regulations and CIC requirements
• Build scalable systems for onboarding, training, performance, and retention
• Establish a values-led organisational culture framework

2. Team Leadership & Department Scaling

• Lead and manage a team of 6 existing HR assistants/coordinators, scaling to 20 HR personnel
• Create clear role structures, reporting lines, and accountability systems
• Train and mentor junior HR staff—many of whom may be early in their careers

3. Recruitment & Talent Development

• Build ethical, inclusive, and scalable recruitment pipelines
• Design structured onboarding experiences for volunteers and staff
• Implement training and development pathways, especially for young people and survivors

4. Compliance, Safeguarding & Governance

• Ensure full compliance with UK employment law and CIC standards
• Develop robust safeguarding policies for working with vulnerable individuals
• Establish data protection and confidentiality frameworks

5. Home Office Sponsorship Licence (Critical Objective)

• Lead the process of securing a UK Home Office Sponsor Licence within our 5year vision
• Build internal systems required to issue Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS)
• Ensure ongoing compliance with sponsorship regulations and reporting duties

6. HR Tech & Systems Innovation

• Manage open-source HR tools and platforms
• Collaborate on building custom internal systems tailored to our mission
• Explore cost-effective, scalable alternatives to traditional HR software

7. Culture, Wellbeing & Retention

• Build a trauma-informed, supportive HR environment
• Create systems that prioritise emotional wellbeing, especially for survivors
• Foster a culture of trust, truth-telling, and accountability

What We’re Looking For

Experience

• Senior-level HR experience (Director, Head of HR, or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices
• Experience building or restructuring HR departments is highly desirable
• Knowledge of Home Office sponsorship processes is a major advantage

Commitment & Reality of the Role

This is a founding-level commitment requiring:

• Approximately 3–4 hours per day mon-fri
• Flexibility, but consistent engagement and leadership presence
• Willingness to build through uncertainty, complexity, and growth phases

• Has the time, space, and desire to fully immerse themselves
• Is not currently tied to a demanding full-time role elsewhere

Bright Futures UK is looking for passionate and knowledgeable Key Stage 3 English tutors to provide educational support and a fun, safe learning environment for young people living with serious illnesses.

What will you be doing? 

Run tutoring sessions online to support a young person for one hour per week

Offer subject area knowledge and expertise related to KS3 English

Help to combat social isolation through fun and engaging tutoring sessions. 

Adhere to safeguarding policies and report concerns to the BFUK Team

What are we looking for? 

1. Subject Knowledge: Strong understanding of KS3 English concepts and specifications.
2. Teaching Skills: Ability to explain complex ideas in a clear and engaging way.
3. Empathy and Patience: Kind and understanding nature, especially towards those facing health challenges.
4. Reliability: Consistent availability for the agreed-upon time commitment.
5. Adherence to safeguarding policies and report concerns to the BFUK Team
