We are looking for friendly, outgoing people who would like to be directly involved in shaping our visitors’ unforgettable experiences through a warm welcome, interacting with them through engaging activities and providing information.

You will be directly involved in shaping children’s unforgettable experiences through the warm welcome you give them, your interactions with them and the information that you provide. 

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need. 

Volunteering for Sense

Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone

• Learn to assist with end-to-end volunteer and intern recruitment, including writing role descriptions, promoting opportunities, and shortlisting candidates.

GARAS (Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers) provides a specialist, holistic service for asylum seekers, refugees and other migrants. We advocate for people’s rights, help improve their wellbeing, and support them in building a better future.

As part of GARAS you will always be compassionate and committed volunteers. As a Triage Volunteer, you will be the first point of contact for many of our clients – helping them access the right support at the right time. You will ensure that enquiries are dealt with effectively, that clients feel welcomed and safe, and that they are directed to the appropriate service: whether at GARAS or with another provider.

This role is essential to the smooth running of our service. With increasing demand, our advisers rely on triage volunteers to help ensure no one is missed and that our support is delivered where it is most needed.

We are looking to recruit a Support Volunteer for the Medway and Swale Group. As our local group Support Volunteer you’ll help people affected by MS find information about local and national services. In this role you’ll be able to develop your listening and communication skills, as well as your knowledge of local services. Most importantly you’ll help people affected by MS to access the help they need.

Managing content for the charity's social media platforms, monitoring performance and establishing and/or maintaining active social media accounts, in addition to researching and creating creative content for different social media channels.

What will you be doing?

• Creating and managing daily social media posts across all social media platforms e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and LinkedIn.
• Develop new, engaging warm-hearted content to increase interest and attract supporters. 
• Working in conjunction with the Marketing Manager and CEO, be responsible for posting original, high-quality content (twice per week) to improve our brand presence, grab the attention of our target audience and drive growth.
• Assist with creating our new social media strategy

Charity Shop Assistant – (RSPCA LINCS MID, NE & LINCOLN)

Our charity shops in the heart of Lincoln are looking for friendly volunteers to join our team and help make our shop a huge success. Make new friends, have fun, and help us help more animals!

As a volunteer Charity Shop Assistant, you would join a small team working with the shop manager and other staff/volunteers to help make it a success and raise vital funds for animal welfare. We are ideally aiming for people who can offer an ongoing commitment predominately on a Saturday and Sunday, however other days and hours would be considered.

About Our Charity Shop

We are looking for more volunteers to join our two Lincoln charity shops, they are only a 10 minute walk away from each other though. Each shop differ in size, the new and largest one is based on the main High Street in Lincoln and opened on the 22nd March 2025, they currently have 4 volunteers, 3 part time sales assistants and a shop manager, each day is different to which volunteer or sales assistant is in. Ideally we are looking for volunteers to help us on a Saturday or Sunday, Saturday at the St Marks Charity Shop and Sundays at the High Street one.

The shop plays an essential role in raising the profile of the RSPCA in our local community and funds for our branch so that we can continue our vital animal welfare work. Our shops sell a mixture of donated items, including clothes, books, bric-a-brac and collectables, and a selection of new items. We have positions available on the shop floor and in our stock room or you could volunteer to do a mixture of both.

Volunteer Charity Shop Assistant responsibilities

• Helping customers in the shop find what they need.
• Accepting donations of items and money from the public.
• Processing sales through the till and card machine, including Gift Aid.
• Sorting through donated items to determine what we can sell.
• Preparing donated items for sale by steaming and hanging and items.
• Merchandising stock on the shop floor.
• Creating attractive shop window displays.

What we are looking for in a volunteer Charity Shop Assistant

• Friendly volunteers who are confident talking to people.
•  Retail experience would be ideal but is not necessary as full training will be given.
• We are ideally aiming for someone who is flexible and can offer an ongoing commitment
•  predominately on Saturday and Sunday, Morning and afternoon for at least 4 hours.
• Good communication and numeracy skills.
• You will need to be aged 18 or over.
