Long Covid Support is a registered charity committed to advocating for and supporting individuals living with Long Covid. Our work includes peer support, awareness campaigns, and partnership building to address the ongoing needs of people with Long Covid across the UK.

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Project Manager to establish two in-person peer support networks for individuals with Long Covid in underserved communities in England and Wales. This is a dynamic and collaborative role, ideal for someone with strong project management skills and a passion for community-based health support.

Key Responsibilities

1. Research and Scoping

• Identify and scope two target areas with high prevalence and need for Long Covid support.
• Collaborate with the Peer Support Lead, local contacts, and established community groups.

• Evaluate suitability of community spaces in partnership with our community space provider.

2. Assessment of Resources and Gaps

• Map existing services, networks, and links to the charity’s current support offerings.

3. Implementation and Support

• Set up two local peer support groups using identified community spaces.
• Recruit and train volunteer facilitators to run group sessions.
• Connect with expert services for supplementary support at group meetings.

4. Evaluation and Reporting

• Use appropriate evaluation tools to measure impact and effectiveness.
• Produce a comprehensive project summary with findings, learnings, and recommendations for future initiatives.

“Solta o Jogo” is a vibrant cultural competition and festival celebrating Brazilian heritage through Capoeira, music, dance, acrobatics, and a Brazilian arts & crafts fair. Hosted at Kingston University Townhouse, the event invites the community to participate in free performances, workshops, and exhibitions promoting cross-cultural understanding.

As part of this initiative, we are seeking a Legal Assistant to support the organisation in ensuring legal compliance and best practice across all departments. Position Overview:
The Legal Assistant will play a key role in ensuring that Quilombo UK’s operations—including its programmes, policies, and partnerships—are fully compliant with current UK legal standards. It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied. We would also love to hear from people willing to volunteer on Sundays.

Are you a social media whiz?

Can you take a successful brand and make it sparkle?

Do you have 3-5 hours a week to give to a charity supporting SEND families?

As a social media volunteer you will be managing and creating content for the charity's social media platforms, monitoring performance and establishing and maintaining active social media accounts.

What will you be doing?

• Creating and managing daily posts across all social media platforms e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
• Advertising our services, webinars and other events in order to reach more families in need of the support we offer.
• Working in conjunction with the Operations Manager, develop new, engaging content to increase interest, improve our presence, attract followers and drive growth.
• Create posts for the organisations needs as and when needed.

What are we looking for?

• Clear understanding of social media platforms.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly motivated, enthusiastic and a positive can-do attitude.
• Knowledge of marketing and public relations is desirable.
• Creativity and experience with Canva for content design is also desirable.

A cancer diagnosis brings extra expense from day one. Every child or young person with a cancer diagnosis has a short-term disability and needs to apply for Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payments (PIP). The forms are long and complex and sometimes families need advice or support to ensure they include enough information to receive the correct level of financial support.

Your empathy, understanding and ability to identify the key information to enable families and young people to claim financial assistance will have a tremendous impact easing stress and allowing them to concentrate on supporting themselves physically and emotionally.

You will be an important part of the team and provide practical support to young people and families completing DLA and PIP forms which can seem lengthy and daunting to young people, and families. Each family’s needs are different, however support via benefits such as DLA and PIP are usually one of the first recommendations made to families seeking financial advice.

What you’ll be doing:

• Providing face to face to support to families of children and young people with a diagnosis of cancer
• Actively listening to families and asking relevant questions to enable them to identify specific support needs
• Supporting families to complete complex forms to enable them to claim DLA or PIP
• As a key part of the team recognise when to ask for other team members for advice or support

This will include:

• Looking at the DLA/PIP form with the family or young person
• Explaining the information Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) needs
• Coaching the family to include as much detail in their answers as necessary

The practical support required for this role will vary from taking the time to read through an application with a young person or family, who require a second opinion.  Others may require questions to be re-phrased to simplify them and make them more applicable to their lived experience.

You will be providing guidance on how to answer the questions on the forms and useful information to include. It may occasionally include filling in the form with the family/young person when they are not able to complete it themselves

Booking slots will be flexible to meet the individual need (30 minutes up to 2 hours)

There is scope and opportunity in this role for development into supporting families or young people with appeals.

Information and Advice Service: The Information and Advice service for older people provides a free, confidential, and independent service for anyone aged 65+ living in the borough of Bromley and 50 + plus in Greenwich. Our advisers provide general advice on a range of subjects: employment rights, welfare benefits, housing, consumer rights and adult social care.

Role Summary: Supporting and providing information to clients across a wide range of enquiry areas including welfare benefits, housing, Social Care, relationships, and consumer issues.

What will I be involved in?

• Identify and research information and services to signpost that are relevant to the client’s situation, drawing on information resources, agencies, and other sources of information.
• Committed to researching and providing up to date information to vulnerable older people using the internet and other resources.
• Familiarize and keep updated with resources available from Age UK factsheets and Information Guides available.
• Completion of the Adviser Induction programme which includes training courses on relevant topics. Followed by shadowing sessions within the I & A Team.
• Successfully complete online training courses for Age UK Bromley and Greenwich volunteers.
• Participate in volunteer support meetings with the Advice Case Supervisor and any training on safeguarding adults and appropriate boundaries.
• Present and discuss information and advice with the client’s consent, act on their behalf, and represent their interests with third parties by letter, telephone or in person.
• Recording and updating case records on Charitylog including capturing consent. Using Microsoft packages and emails.
• Liase closely with the Advice Case Supervisor, other advisers, and wider staff team. Seeking guidance and support where required.
• At all times work in accordance with the organisation’s policies regarding Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Confidentiality & Data Protection. Lone working.
• Represent the professional standards of Age UK Bromley and Greenwich and ensure that you wear your volunteer id badge whilst volunteering.

ENGINEERS/MAKERS

Across the UK, our 60+ local branches help disabled people live the lives they choose. Our network of skilled volunteers respond to thousands of requests each year to design and make customised equipment free of charge.

Our Engineer/Maker volunteers are at the very heart of what our local branches do. They use their practical skills and creativity to help people with disabilities live fuller and more independent lives.

What the role involves

This is a varied role where local need shapes what you’ll be working on, but it often includes:

• Designing and making pieces of equipment for individuals with specific needs

• Using your practical skills working with metal, wood, plastic, or electronics (or a combination of them)

• Attending a monthly meeting of the local branch.

We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, and there’s an induction that covers all the areas above. You’ll also have chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us.

What you’ll need for this role

Essential

• Practical experience in working with one of the above materials

• Comfortable working with people, listening to them and understanding their needs

• Able to apply our risk management system

• Able to apply disability, equality, and inclusion practices

• Able to keep people’s personal details safe

• Willing to follow REMAP policies and procedures and a commitment to our values

Desirable

• Access to your own tools and workshop (or can access these)

• Able to drive or have good transport links

You’ll also need to complete the induction checklist, as well as a DBS check and reference check.
