Purpose of the Safeguarding Officer Role

The Safeguarding Officer is responsible for designing, implementing, and protecting the safeguarding framework that allows the CIC to operate safely, ethically, and lawfully at scale.

This role ensures:

• Survivors are protected, not re-exposed
• Volunteers are supported, not exploited
• Risks are identified early, not ignored
• Safeguarding is embedded into every system, not bolted on

About the role:

To design and uphold safeguarding systems that protect survivors, volunteers and the organisation, ensuring safety, ethics and legal compliance are built into every practice as the CIC grows. Safeguarding is the infrastructure that allows the work to "SAFELY" exist at all.

Main Responsibilities/ Key Duties

• Design, implement, and maintain a safeguarding framework that protects survivors, volunteers, members and the organisation.
• Develop and own safeguarding policies, procedures and reporting pathways covering:

 Adults and children at risk

 Digital spaces, storytelling, and online engagement

• Ensure safeguarding is embedded into:

• Establish clear risk assessment processes for activities, campaigns, and content.

You must:

• Be able to commit 80% dedication during the build phase

You should have experience in some of the following:

• Safeguarding (statutory, charity, education, health, or grassroots)

Formal qualifications are welcome but not essential.

As a Community Support Volunteer - Stream for Samaritans, you’ll be helping to research and engage with new creators utilising a range of skills from social media to community management to help Samaritans towards their vision that fewer people should die by suicide.

What is the role?

The Community Support Volunteer - Stream for Samaritans will work closely with the Events Fundraising Manager Gaming and Streaming to help increase the reach of the team in the online creator space so Samaritans can raise more funds to help those with suicidal thoughts get help when they need it the most.

You will be a vital part of the team, using your skills and network to find new creators to engage with, carrying out research and safeguarding checks and becoming a key point of contact for those wanting to learn more about this exciting area of fundraising. You’ll also help to set the tone for our Discord community by posting regularly, moderating and being part of conversations to inspire our supporters to get more involved with fundraising for Samaritans.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

• Use your passion and enthusiasm for all things content creation to help Samaritans towards their vision that fewer people should die by suicide
• Use your engagement and communication skills to support Samaritans in the expansion and development of our content creator fundraising events

The Walnut Tree is a cafe situated within an Arts & Communuty Centre near Parsons Green. We're looking for part-time volunteers to help us serve in the cafe on a regular weekly basis.

We serve a variety of hot drinks, cakes, hot toasties & soups, and require someone who is open to lending their hand where needed. We will provide training as neccessary, but mainly ask for a willing & a positive attitude!

As part of the Government led Gommunities for Afghans programme, we are looking to recruit individuals or groups (UK BASED ONLY) to make up a team of 6 volunteers to support an Afghan family - you could be friends, neighbours, colleagues, faith groups, veterans, or community organisations are welcome.

We are currently focussed on supporting families across Wales, West Midlands and Scotland but be keen to support elsewhere geographically where possible.  With this in mind, you may live in these areas, but we are also delighted to bring volunteers together remotely to support a family.

4. Welcome & Support the Family Volunteers help the family register with schools, healthcare, benefits, and local services, while introducing them to the community and supporting them as they adjust to life in the UK.
5. Be the Local Point of Contact You act as the family’s trusted guide, helping them navigate the area, understand local systems, and access opportunities that only residents truly know.
6. Commit for Three Years Sponsor groups support the family for three years, providing consistency as they grow in independence, confidence, and resilience.

RSPCA Surrey East Branch

We are looking for fosterers in the Surrey East area, including Redhill, Reigate, Dorking, Horley, Lingfield, Oxted and Caterham.

We’re looking for cat-loving volunteers to play a vital role in helping us improve the wellbeing of the cats in our care whilst they wait to be rehomed. Can you help them by providing a calm and caring home whilst we find their purrfect forever home?

Overview of the opportunity

As a cat fosterer, you would be supporting the RSPCA in providing our cats with the safety of your home whilst tending to their welfare needs such as feeding and grooming. In addition to this, by providing a temporary loving environment, you will play a crucial role in a cat’s wellbeing and socialisation, which will significantly improve their chances of successful rehoming.

Once everything is in place, the branch will guide you through the fostering process and ensure that you have all the necessary equipment, food, and veterinary care for your fostered cat.

Our Animal Welfare Officer, Robyn, is the fostering coordinator, so she will provide our fosterers will all the help and support they need. We are a small, remote branch, so fostering will be the backbone of our rehoming operation. Volunteers will play an integral part to our branch. We don't operate at a large capacity, so we will always be on hand to support fosterers and navigate the fostering process with them. They will be joining the branch at a very exciting time, as we have only just launched our cat fostering scheme.

Whilst our cats are in your foster care, you will:

• Provide them with care, suitable housing, and a safe environment as per our policies and guidelines.

• Feed, water, and groom them in line with our advice.

• Transport them to any veterinary appointments (if required)

• Provide them with your time and patience.

• Help us spread the word about the cats in your care so they might find their forever home quicker.

• Playing and cuddles are also a must!

What we are looking for in a volunteer Cat Fosterer

• Volunteers aged 18 or over who have had plenty of experience caring for cats.

• Fostering experience is beneficial but not essential as training is provided.

• For their wellbeing, our cats need to be kept in a separate room, so the whole family should be on board.

• Any existing pets or animals need to have been spayed/neutered (some medical reasons may mean they cannot be so, please let us know if this is the case).

The Opportunity

We are seeking an imaginative, visionary, and highly skilled Creative Director to lead the artistic and aesthetic direction of the foundation. This is a senior volunteer role ideal for someone who is passionate about classical beauty, cultural heritage, and the power of visual storytelling.

You will shape the creative identity of the foundation, oversee the development of visual and artistic materials, and ensure that all programmes, publications, and communications reflect the cultural spirit of Lys. As we grow, you will build and lead a creative department including designers, artists, writers, and content creators.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the foundation’s creative vision, ensuring aesthetic coherence across all outputs.

• Oversee the creation of visual assets, branding materials, illustrations, and artistic content.

• Collaborate closely with the Heads of Marketing, Programmes, and Partnerships to ensure creative alignment.

• Lead the development of campaigns, visual narratives, and cultural storytelling initiatives.

About the role: 

This volunteer role involves providing information, support and advice, particularly around welfare benefits and housing to Carers through one-to-one case work.

Our Charity: 

We are a busy, ambitious charity operating at the heart of the Wandsworth community since 1995, helping thousands of people across the borough in unpaid Caring roles. We give information and advice, organise respite, offer complementary therapies, deliver training, provide peer support, arrange fun events and much more.In short, we are the Carer's friend and advocate, often helping Carers through difficult times.

• Provide information to newly registered Carers about WCC services 

• Maintain up to date database records for Carers linked with the Centre 

• Maintain the information system under the guidance of the Centre staff

• Experience of, or ability to provide one to one support, information, advice and advocacy, including welfare benefits. 

• Developed IT skills 

• Ability and commitment to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

We need dedicated volunteers to work at our Chiswick High Road store. If you have a passion for fashion (especially second-hand), amazing customer service skills and you are keen to learn new skills, then this opportunity is for you. As a volunteer you will also be involved in receiving, sorting, steaming, and pricing our lovely donations, serving at the till, and using your creativity to create displays around the shop. Training will be provided. As a volunteer, you will be helping to raise money for the Octavia Foundation and support the work we do in the local community.
