About us: GT Scholars is a charitable social enterprise that tackles educational inequality by giving ambitious young people the support, skills and strategies they need to achieve aspirations. We run a wide range of programmes that help young people achieve their academic and career aspirations, particularly those from less-privileged backgrounds. 

What makes us different? We run tutoring, mentoring & career insight programmes that help our scholars, aged 11-18, discover their strengths, develop their mindsets and design their own futures.

If you are an undergraduate or graduate, you could make a difference by joining us as a volunteer tutor. As a volunteer tutor, you’ll need to:

• Have a passion for helping children and young people

• Provide online one-to-one tutoring support for 1 hour week

• Build pupil confidence in English.

• Have strong subject knowledge (confident enough to tutor up to GCSE)

• Work collaboratively with other tutors and mentors

• Have a minimum of an undergraduate degree or be working towards this

Our Friends Ageing Better (FAB) project is looking for volunteer hosts for our FAB cafés around Bristol. In this volunteer role, you’ll be part of creating vibrant, welcoming community spaces that build relationships and connect people with activities in their local community.

At Age UK Bristol, we want to change the way we age. We aim to keep people aged 55+ well and active, encouraging Bristol to be an Age Friendly city. Events Officer has the responisbility of organising (along with the help of a Trustee Events Manager) our magical visits to children/adults with LD, this could be at the hospital, social groups, refugee centres, libraries etc etc.

They will monitor the chapter email for submitted event booking forms (some of these will come from events organised by the Events Manager on Trustees). These will then be added to the calendar and advertised to volunteers. They will ensure each event organised has a handful of volunteers confirmed within a week of the event itself. They will then provide information and support to a Lead Volunteer to run the events. They will ensure that regular events are being attended by volunteers and that they have the costume and materials that are needed for these. They will follow up after events to ensure social media posts are made, hours are uploaded and that costumes are returned. They will ensure that all volunteers are attending events.

The Role

You’ll work closely with the Income Generation staff in our Income and Partnerships team to research potential funders, write compelling proposals, and help us build long-term relationships that sustain our impact.

A Finance Assistant helps support the financial operations of the organisation. The core role typically includes assisting with bookkeeping, budgeting, and financial record-keeping, assisting with the preparation of year end, and producing a yearly review for the strategy day, along with attending monthly meetings and assisting in the updating of the board. All tasks under the guidance of a Treasurer. The purpose of the role is so the organisation can maintain accurate financial records, comply with regulations, and make informed decisions. It’s also a valuable learning opportunity for volunteers interested in finance, accounting.

What are the key responsibilities of this role?

This role will have the following duties, but are not limited to:

• Inputting financial data into spreadsheets Sage and Google Sheets

• Filing and organizing invoices, receipts, and bank statements

• Assisting with bank reconciliations

• Helping to prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports

• Supporting the preparation of annual budgets and audits

How much commitment is required?

The role is flexible and can work around your current commitments.  On average it should take less than two hours per week.  A few things to note is that we ask you try to:

• Be available to catch up meetings with the treasurer and the chair of the charity.

As a Regional Fundraising Volunteer, you will support Rethink Mental Illness in generating income, raising awareness, and building community engagement through local fundraising initiatives.
