Dougie Mac Hospice is looking to appoint new Trustees to join our Board and support the effective leadership, governance and long-term sustainability of our organisation.
For over 50 years, Dougie Mac has provided specialist, compassionate care for local people living with life-limiting conditions. Today, we are a multi-faceted, all-age hospice supporting children, young people, adults and families across Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire. With over 500 staff, 700 volunteers, and an annual cost of more than £23 million, strong governance has never been more important.
We are seeking individuals who share our commitment to our values — Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence — and who can bring insight, challenge and support to help us deliver our vision of being a centre of excellence in palliative and end-of-life care.
What Does a Trustee Do?
As a Trustee of Dougie Mac, you will play a key role in ensuring the hospice is well-governed, financially resilient and able to meet the needs of our community now and in the future. Trustees collectively:
- Provide strategic leadership and help shape organisational priorities.
- Ensure our resources are used effectively and in line with charitable objectives.
- Oversee organisational performance, risk management and financial sustainability.
- Support and challenge the Executive Team to deliver high-quality care.
- Uphold our values and safeguard the reputation of the hospice.
- Act as ambassadors for Dougie Mac in the community and within their networks.
This is a voluntary role that requires integrity, sound judgement, teamwork and a genuine commitment to supporting excellent hospice care.
Who Are We Looking For?
We welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds, skills and lived experiences. You do not need previous trustee experience — just the right mindset, values and ability to contribute at Board level.
We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with experience in:
- Senior leadership or board-level decision-making
- Strategy, governance or risk management
- Healthcare, palliative care or wider public sector services
- Finance, investment or commercial management
- HR, workforce, organisational development or culture
- Digital, data or information governance
- Community engagement, fundraising or voluntary sector work
Above all, you should bring curiosity, integrity, compassion, and the confidence to both support and constructively challenge.
⏰ Time Commitment
Trustees are expected to attend:
- 4 Board Meetings per year
- 2–4 Committee or Trading Board meetings
- The AGM
- The Annual Trustee Away Day
Additional preparation time and occasional hospice events are also expected.
Out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

You will receive a full induction into the role and ongoing access to training, including mandatory governance modules and development opportunities. Trustees are well supported to thrive in their role.

Vallis Farm Education Centre CIC is looking for volunteer Non-Executive Directors for our new Education Centre CIC starting early in 2026!
Company Description
Vallis Farm Education Centre CIC (based in Frome, Somerset), is intending to provide day courses, DWP work placements, Skills Bootcamps, our own LANTRA-certified courses and apprenticeships, in horticulture and agroecology. We will also run a weekly youth group to improve nature connection amongst young people; encourage a healthy attitude to the outdoors and give them land-based skills that they will not learn at school. There will also be a ‘light touch’ element of ecology and wildlife to address more positively the challenges we now face with climate change.
Our courses will be open to everyone of all ages; however, our primary focus will be on the provision of post-16 learning opportunities outside of ‘A’ levels and higher education; i.e. further education, work experience and land-based skills development to, ultimately, increase employability.
Our work is guided by a passion for an education that suits all learners, a commitment to supporting everyone to achieve their potential and a desire to see increased employability for young people living in Frome and the surrounding areas.
The Education Centre will be run by Vallis Farms Ltd Head of Land & Learning in conjunction with the Education Centre’s Operations Manager. The Head of Land & Learning will run the youth group and deliver teaching alongside other contracted instructors/teaching staff. The CIC will apply for funding to enable children, young people and adults to take educational courses who would normally self-exclude or be excluded due to lack of transport options or for financial reasons (e.g. a lack of funds to pay for a course or necessary equipment e.g. boots).
Role Description
We are looking for Non-Executive Directors to join our small and passionate board of three people.
This is a voluntary role suitable for individuals who, like us, care deeply about an education provision for all, and are also eager to contribute to shaping the future direction of the Education Centre. You don’t need to have previous board experience or formal qualifications - we’re looking for people with experience in either education (ideally secondary level or above), budget/finance management and reporting, monitoring and evaluation or charity governance, and have a desire to share your experience and skills.
As a Non-Executive Director, you will:

Participate in board meetings (in-person in Frome) as often as is necessary to effectively carry out board duties and govern the CIC. The frequency can be decided by the board once convened, but will be quarterly at most

Help guide Vallis Farm Education Centre’s strategy and priorities

Ensure the CIC has effective leadership, strong accountability systems and effective policies and procedures to ensure it always meets its legal obligations and serves its stated community purpose

Offer insight, challenge, and support to ensure good governance

Act as an ambassador for our mission to improve post-16 provision in our area and help us build connections

Contribute your lived experience, professional knowledge/experience, or community perspective to strengthen our education provision

About the role
As a Trustee, you’ll help shape the direction of the charity, support good decision-making, and make sure we stay focused on our mission to make cycling accessible for everyone. We’d especially like to hear from people who:
- Have experience in communications, PR, campaigning or public engagement, and can help us share the power of inclusive cycling with more people across the UK
- Have strong networks or local knowledge in areas that are currently least well served by inclusive cycling - especially the North East, East Midlands or South West

Off The Record (OTR) is an independent charity based in the Havant Borough. We have been supporting young people and their families in Southeast Hampshire and surrounding areas since 1977.
We offer free 1-2-1 and family counselling, group work services for those 11 to 25 and support for their families, we deliver a young carer programme to young people ages 8 to 25.

We are actively seeking trustees from all areas of life,
You will play a crucial role in guiding the governance of OTR. You will work collaboratively with other members of the Board of Trustees to ensure effective management and sustainability of our charity.
This is an unpaid voluntary position, requiring a commitment of approximately 4-6 hours per month.
Our Trustee board meet every month; in-person bi-monthly for 2 hours with the months in between a shorter 1-hour online meeting. On occasion there will ad-hoc meeting to meet the needs of the organisation and to carry out the trustee role.

Responsibilities:
· Provide strategic guidance and expertise to support Off The Record's vision and mission.

- Help oversee the governance of the charity in accordance with the Charity Commission’s published guidelines.

The statutory duties of a trustee
· To ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations

OTR has been part of our community since 1977, our purpose has remained the same throughout, to
support young people’s mental health to fulfil their potential for a brighter future, however during this
time we have evolved, expanded and developed our services. We put young people at the heart of what
we do, by integrating youth voice into our services we are continuously evolving to meet current needs
of young people and their families.
You will be joining an amazing and established team.
A staff of 16 cover all bases, with an established admin and front-line group work and Young Carer
teams, and leadership team that oversee admin, therapeutic and youth services, business support,
volunteers, finance, safeguarding and clinical supervision. Our dedicated counsellors and volunteers
deliver the therapeutic services and information and support calls. Our trustees meet every month,
alternating between formal board meetings, and trustee ongoing development meetings.
You will be joining a safe and respected service, that is long standing and held dearly by our
local community.
Our policy and procedures ensure a high standard of operational and clinical governance across the
organisation, that is brought to life with an excellent induction and training programme, and varied and

WORTH is a charity providing long term aftercare to women affected by Domestic Abuse. We offer clients 1-1 support and a range of wellbeing groups including art, writing, music, and self-defence to help rebuild their confidence and self-esteem.
We provide a safe space for clients to share experiences, give, and receive practical and emotional support, learn new skills, reduce isolation, build friendships, and give women their voice back. It is a space where women can focus on their future and we can support our clients in their healing, post abuse.
To be able to provide this support we rely on a wonderful team of volunteers with a wide skill set and a whole lot of passion to enable our services to work effectively.
Our Board of Trustees play a vital role in making sure that WORTH achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management, administration, and governance of the charity. They also ensure that WORTH has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the CEO to enable WORTH to grow and thrive and support more women in need.
Trustee Duties:
- Support and provide advice on WORTH's purpose, vision, goals, and activities.
- Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
- Oversee WORTH's financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
- Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
- Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored, and controlled effectively.
- Review and approve WORTH's financial statements.
- Provide support and challenge to WORTH's CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.

- The secretary will be responsible for record taking, including writing, and distributing minutes of trustee meetings, putting together agendas for meetings and sending these out with notice of the next meeting.
- The Secretary will work closely with the Chair to enable the smooth running of meetings.
- The Treasurer will be responsible for overseeing and presenting the accounts to the Trustee meetings. We have an accountant doing the day-to-day management of our finances.
- The treasurer will work closely with the CEO in putting together the budget and monitoring the accounts.
As a small charity, there will be times when trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Trustee Board meetings. This may involve scrutinising meeting papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.
What we are looking for
We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking and skills on our Board of Trustees. We are particularly interested in candidates with business, finance, and fundraising experience.
Previous governance experience is preferable but not essential. The role is open to remote and local applicants.

Terms of office

- Attending a minimum of six trustee board meetings annually, meetings are held remotely via Zoom once every two to three months.
- Attendance at ad hoc trustee meetings in addition to the minimum six annual meetings.

South Cumbria MAT are seeking committed volunteers from a range of backgrounds to join as Trustees on their Board of Trustees. Trustees are critical to the success of the Trust.
