We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop

Our Northallerton Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).

Tell My Truth and Shame the Devil CIC is a grassroots community interest company committed to fighting Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) across all UK communities.
We work to protect, heal, and empower survivors, amplify their voices, and educate the public through media, outreach, and education.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Voluntary Assistant to the Executive Assistant, who will directly support the Executive Assistant to the Founder in the day-to-day coordination, administration, and communications of the CIC.

You will play a vital role in helping the team stay organised, efficient, and connected as we expand our operations, events, and fundraising programmes.

This is an unpaid voluntary position for someone passionate about helping build a movement that fights CSA and supports survivors across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Executive Assistant in managing schedules, meetings, and communications.

• Assist with preparing reports, tracking project tasks, and ensuring follow-ups through Asana.

• Help organise and document team meetings, training sessions, and fundraising events.

• Communicate with internal departments, volunteers, and external partners in a professional and sensitive manner.

• Assist with digital organisation — filing, cloud storage management, and shared document control.

• Help prepare correspondence, press materials, or short summaries for the Founder or senior team.

• Occasionally attend virtual or in-person meetings to take notes and ensure next steps are actioned.

• Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity when handling information related to CSA, survivors, and internal operations.

Ideal Candidate

• Passionate about fighting against CSA and supporting survivors.

• Organised, proactive, and eager to learn about how community organisations operate.

• Tech-savvy and comfortable with tools like Asana, Microsoft Office, and Google Drive.

• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

• Professional, empathetic, and committed to the CIC’s values of truth, love, and collective healing.

• Able to take initiative and work independently or within a small, close-knit team.

Volunteer Trustee (Secretary Role)

About the Role:

We’re a charity supporting young people and families through grief, loss, and emotional wellbeing. As our Secretary, you’ll be the organised heartbeat of the board, keeping everything running smoothly, making sure meetings are well-structured, and helping us stay on top of our legal and admin responsibilities.

You don’t need to have charity admin experience — just good organisational skills, a bit of tech confidence, and a passion for helping young people heal and thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

 Meetings & Records

• Arrange trustee meetings (usually every 1–2 months) and make sure everyone has the agenda and papers in advance.

• Take clear minutes and track action points so nothing slips through the cracks.

• Keep an organised record of all meetings, decisions, and official documents.

Governance & Compliance

• Help ensure the charity meets its legal requirements with the Charity Commission.

• Maintain up-to-date trustee contact details and declarations of interest.

• Support the Chair and Treasurer with key governance documents like policies, annual returns, and reports.

 Communication & Coordination

• Be the main point of contact for trustee communication — keeping everyone in the loop.

• Help coordinate between trustees, volunteers, and partners.

• Make sure important dates, tasks, and documents are shared in good time.

What We’re Looking For:

• Super organised and reliable — someone who loves keeping things in order.

RANGER CADETS

We are looking for a male mentor volunteer to provide guidance, support, and inspiration to young boys in our Brent Domestic Abuse Service. You will act as a positive role model by offering a listening ear for challenges, helping build social connections, and developing life skills like self-esteem, respecting others, and decision-making. This role requires empathy, reliability, and a commitment to a positive, non-judgmental approach. If you would like to make a difference, get in touch!

Hestia provides holistic, one-to-one support in our refuges and the community. Our refuge services are for women and children, offering a safe place to stay and vital emotional and practical support.

Outside of our refuges, most of our support services are accessible by anyone who has experienced domestic abuse, including men.

In the last year, 3,855 women and children were supported by Hestia to recover from domestic abuse.

Anyone can experience domestic abuse, at any point in their life, regardless of their background, age, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation. However, it is a gendered crime, with women being three times more likely to be victims.

We help people understand what domestic abuse is and develop the knowledge, skills and tools they need to protect themselves, stay safe and leave a relationship, if and when they’re ready to do so.

What you will be doing

• Build a trusting relationship with a young boy by being a supportive, compassionate, and empathetic friend and role model
• Help the young person identify and work toward personal and academic goals
• Provide guidance and support on challenges the young boy faces, helping them consider various options and make positive life choices

Teachers and educational facilitators wanted to help East London Waterworks Park deliver its environmental learning goals.

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are seeking experienced teachers and educational facilitators to lead workshops and deliver engaging environmental education sessions to children and young people. Sessions may take place at schools or around the perimeter of the site we want to transform into East London Waterworks Park.

This role would include:

• Leading hands-on outdoor learning workshops
• Delivering nature-based activities to school groups
• Supporting the creation of ELWP’s Under 18s volunteering policy
• Supporting outreach efforts to promote ELWP’s existing learning programmes

The Learning Circle currently meets monthly on a Wednesday evening at 8pm for an hour on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely

You should be an experienced teacher, educational consultant, forest school leader, training and development specialist, learning designer, facilitator or any other kind of role creating learning projects, programmes and experiences. Our roles are quite flexible. We hope that people bring radical imagination, peace with nature, and courageous inclusiveness to the role. 

Your support will help young people and learners improve their environmental knowledge of design and research as well as contributing to our community-owned park. This will in turn provide a sense of stewardship over the land once the park is created and student's ideas have been built into the park. Creating learning projects with educational institutions will also help our charity with the strategy to buy the land through showing the value of our environmental education programme before we create the park. 

You will have a significant impact on the creation of a new biodiverse community-owned park with free access natural swimming ponds. By volunteering in this role, you will help shape the future of East London Waterworks Park as a community-led environmental learning space. We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop

We've recently reopened our Islington Shop with a gorgeous new look inspired by the neighbouring film studios. In amongst the retro cinema seats and beautiful backstage velvet curtains you'll find unique vintage treasures and lovingly curated donated stock, hand picked by our brilliant volunteer team.

Our Islington Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

Skills and experiences we seek

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experiences. You don’t need any retail or shop experience as full training will be provided. What’s important to us is that you are a team player, open to learning and to follow our policies as well as be an excellent representative for Save the Children. 

We know that our shop teams are stronger when they are inclusive and representative of their communities. Everybody can make a real difference. People come to us for all sorts of reasons, from all backgrounds, and we will do what we can to find a role that works for you.

What happens next?

After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. Just Like Us is recruiting a Trustee to join our Board of Trustees!

Just Like Us is the LGBT+ young people’s charity. Growing up LGBT+ is still unacceptably tough. Founded in 2016, we work with schools across the UK to change this; empowering young people and teachers to champion LGBT+ equality.

We run programmes in schools across the UK:

● School Diversity Week and Resource Library: More than 7,000 primary and secondary schools are signed up to receive our free educational resources to help them celebrate in June every year
● Ambassadors and School talks: We train LGBT+ young people (18 to 25 year olds) to deliver relatable talks in secondary schools on allyship and growing up LGBT+
● Pride Groups: We help secondary schools and young leaders to set up a Pride Group for LGBT+ pupils and their allies; providing training, resources and 121 support

Our achievements
● We are the UK’s leading LGBT+ young people’s charity
● More than 7,000 primary and secondary schools across the UK take part in our programmes
● Our funding has quickly grown to just over £1m annual income since the charity began in 2016
● We have trained thousands of LGBT+ young people to deliver talks in schools, and currently have almost 500 volunteer ambassadors
● Our patrons are actor Jonathan Bailey, paralympian Lauren Rowles and doctor and TV presenter Dr Ronx

Role Profile

General Responsibilities

In addition to the responsibilities outlined in The Charity Commission’s The Essential Trustee: what you need to know, as a trustee you will be expected to:

● Review board papers and attend board meetings (minimum of 4 times a year)
● Give firm strategic direction to the organisation, assess risk and evaluate performance
● Ensure that Just Like Us pursues its charitable objectives and complies with its governing document and other relevant legislation or regulations
● Support the employed leadership team
● Represent Just Like Us at events

We would welcome candidates with experience of working in charities or in education. We are keen to hear from underrepresented voices, particularly trans and non-binary, Black and/or PoC candidates.
