Through volunteering as an Operational Support Team Member, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride in providing essential resources to our medical and education teams. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time. 

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. Youth Leaders work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet Units. By organising a mixed weekly programme, this role will support the learning and development of young people into the next generation of health citizens. Youth Leaders also help young people develop their confidence, teamwork skills, self-discipline, and generally encourage them to strive to be the best they can be, as well as supervise and support other adult volunteers in their team.

Birmingham Cathedral is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join its Safeguarding Committee as a voluntary member. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the safety and wellbeing of all who engage with
the cathedral from worshippers and visitors to staff and volunteers. 

As an independent member of the Safeguarding Committee, you will help oversee and support the cathedral’s safeguarding practices, ensuring they reflect best standards and promote a culture of safety, transparency, and care. You will work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and external partners to uphold the cathedral’s commitment to safeguarding children, vulnerable adults, and all members of the community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend committee meetings, three times a year (usually February, May and October) held at Birmingham Cathedral.

Our Treasurer will regularly report to the Board of Trustees on the organisation’s financial position and overall financial health. The Treasurer will also ensure that robust and appropriate financial controls, systems, and procedures are in place and operating effectively.

While the Treasurer holds specific responsibility for financial oversight, all Trustees remain jointly and severally responsible for the governance and administration of the Charity and share collective accountability and liability.

Visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing. In many cases, the visitor is the only person in someone’s life who isn’t paid to be there for them.

In this role you will spend quality time with the person you visit and could do a range of different activities like:

• Sitting and having a chat
• Checking in on their well- being
• Going out to a local café/pub for a meal/drink
• Take part on community activities like visiting a place of interest, go shopping etc.
• Enjoying a walk
• A craft activity at home

As a Mencap volunteer visitor you will be:

• Friendly and approachable
• Accepting of others who might be different to yourself
• Reliable and patient

Worldwide SHEroes is looking for an experienced professional  trainer & coach with experience in program and instructional design to develop learning content.  We want to provide an innovative, exciting and impactful learning journey for our Mentors and our Mentees by producing materials on leadership content. 

This would include :

• producing E-Books / video content 
• updating our Learning Academy  with resources, bite-sized learning, tools and tips.

Understanding the needs of the mentors and mentees, assisting in establishing an Alumni program, refining presentations or onboarding,  graduations experience etc.

We are open to creative, innovative ideas, if they improve our user experience and produce great outcomes.

4-6 hours per week
