About the role:

The Alcohol Behavioural Change Specialist is responsible for collaboratively designing and implementing, evidence-based programmes applying appropriate behavioural change models aimed at reducing alcohol-related harm, and promoting long-term behavioural change related to alcohol consumption.

As a leading charity focused on alcohol harm reduction, the postholder will be Drinkaware’s internal expert regarding alcohol harm to individuals and will have a good understanding of brief interventions, as well as information, advice and guidance including quality assurance across our work. They will work across the organisation providing expert advice and guidance.

Programme & Intervention Development

• Work with the Head of operations to develop and implement personalised intervention strategies to help individuals reduce alcohol consumption, using evidence-based behavioural change techniques through our app and other digital tools.

• Collaborate with lived experience panel and Independent Advisory Panel to create comprehensive alcohol-related behavioural health programmes.

• Utilise your experience of motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and other evidence-based practices to promote lasting change in alcohol use behaviours across Drinkaware’s activity.

• Stay up to date on the latest research in alcohol use, behavioural change methods to inform programme development and interventions.

Content & Communication

• Work with the Marketing & Content team to produce engaging content for public audiences ensuring accuracy and effectiveness of advice and guidance in all Drinkaware messaging.

• Work with the Digital and Content team to ensure the Drinkaware website content is relevant and up to date.

• Presenting our insights, programmes and tools to external stakeholders including funders, public health departments etc.

Insight & Evaluation

• Work with the Research team in the translation of research insights and publications into programme development.

• Work with the Impact team to ensure impact monitoring and quality assurance is embedded in all work undertaken by Drinkaware and support colleagues to monitor and measure the quality of its work with a view to ensuring high quality standards and continuous improvement.

Governance & Safeguarding

• Work with the Head of Operations to ensure Safeguarding is embedded within all programme delivery.

About you:

This role requires a deep understanding of psychological theories, behavioural science, and addiction, along with practical experience in behavioural interventions.

Qualifications and/or experience

• Degree or higher in Psychology, Behavioural change, Public Health, or a related field. Certification or training in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or other relevant therapeutic approaches is highly desirable.

Essential Criteria / Key Skills

• Strong understanding of behavioural science theories and experience of how to apply them to alcohol use, with proficiency in delivering behavioural change techniques.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing behavioural change interventions, particularly in the context of alcohol or addiction.
• Experience with digital health applications is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate individuals at all stages of behavioural change.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess, plan, and implement effective behavioural change programmes.
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of working in the health sector and have a passion for reducing alcohol harm in the UK.
• Experience working in partnership with internal and external agencies and organisation
• Experience of working collaboratively across internal departments and teams
• Knowledge of public health initiatives and policies related to alcohol use.
• Data analysis and program evaluation experience.
• Confident public speaker able to represent Drinkaware at events, conferences and in the media.

Role 2 - Research Assistant (Fixed Term 12 Month Contract)

The Fabian Society is also hiring a Research Assistant on a 12-month development contract to support the new Fabian Housing Centre, as well as wider projects across the research team. 

You will undertake a wide range of activities, and contribute to the development of high-quality research reports, working closely with our Research Manager and Head of the Fabian Housing Centre.

Job Purpose:

Lepra is dedicated to addressing leprosy and lymphatic filariasis (LF) and their consequences through direct support, advocacy, and the promotion of inclusive communities. We work in Bangladesh and in India, through our sister organisation, LEPRA Society. We work in partnership with people affected by leprosy and LF to improve detection, ensure access to treatment and care, and promote inclusion and wellbeing. Last year we finalised our new Global Strategy for 2024-30, which will guide us in our efforts to accelerate progress towards global targets for leprosy and LF, and towards our vision of a world free from leprosy and LF.

Job Context

Lepra UK is seeking to expand impactful social research, and the research internship was created to assist with moving forward some key research pieces during the summer 2025. As Research Intern, you will work alongside the Head of Research and a team of research volunteers to complete a systematic evidence review on the experience of children affected by leprosy of stigma, discrimination and mental health responses. You will support the review with screening of articles, data extraction, verification, coding, synthesis and quality assessment. You will join the team two months into the project, taking on various roles to assist with the completion of this project. You will also help with conducting a literature review on the socio-cultural reasons for (non)adherence in multi-drug therapy treatment (MDT). Other tasks will be assigned as they emerge. Your work will provide valuable insight into under-researched fields and will contribute to evidence-based publications, recommendations and programming.

Person Specification

Essential

• Current or recent post-graduate in a relevant MSc/PhD programme (or otherwise affiliated to an academic institution) 
• Passion for social causes and global health with high levels of intrinsic motivation/drive
• A desire to excel in high quality outputs with superb attention to detail
• A desire to contribute to published outputs as co-author, with the relevant analytical skills
• Previous experience of literature reviews and/or systematic reviews (Prisma)

Key Responsibilities

1. Research assistance in systematic review: data extraction, verification and synthesis

• Assist with screening of academic articles and relevant literature.
• Extract, verify, and code data according to pre-established criteria.

• Implement colour-coded classification of themes within PDF documents in an EndNote library.
• Use CASP checklists to assess the quality of included articles.

2. Research citation management

• Take responsibility for managing a research library in EndNote, updating references and formatting outputs in line with Lancet/Vancouver style

3. Research assistance in new literature review

• Assist with conducting a comprehensive literature review.
• Search academic databases and grey literature for evidence on complex factors for MDT (multi-drug therapy) (non-)adherence.
• Capture both barriers and enablers including the following categories: social, cultural, emotional, clinical/reactions, systemic/health system, disease knowledge.
• Assist with writing up findings for publication in peer-reviewed journal.

Technical Research Expertise

• Expert knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies including RCTs, quasi-experimental methods; including multi-country evaluations and ethical research management.
• Proficiency in advanced statistical analysis and research data interpretation. Excellent data analysis skills using statistical software packages (STATA or R) and advanced excel skills; experience of advanced quantitative analysis techniques such as Interrupted Time Series Analysis, multilevel regression etc.

• Proficiency in developing new metrics and frameworks for assessing program impact, particularly in equity, disability, and marginalized group outcomes.
• Deep understanding of research ethics, protocols, and quality assurance processes

Sector Expertise

• Substantial experience in sexual and reproductive health research

As a Science Communications Officer at BHF, you’ll play a vital role by translating our cardiovascular research into engaging content to support our wider fundraising and brand goals.

The main areas of responsibilities for the role will be:

• Content Creation – Creating audience appropriate summaries of BHF funded projects and engaging written content for use across all channels, while liaising with our Heart Stories and Research Engagement teams to support the development of a central content library of case studies developed from patients own stories.
• Editorial Support – Supporting our Science Communications Specialist with fact-checking and proofreading to help ensure consistency of message and tone across all research storytelling and assisting with visual and multimedia asset gathering as needed.
• Stakeholder Engagement – Liaising with a variety of internal colleagues from our Marketing, Fundraising and Brand teams to support science led supporter-facing materials, whilst building and maintaining positive relationships with academic researchers, centres and our BHF-funded institutions.
• Project Coordination – Tracking content requests and deadlines, supporting delivery of campaigns and participating in team planning meetings all to maximise the impact our research stories have.

The ideal candidate for this role will have the following:

• A degree in biological or medical sciences, or equivalent knowledge.

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic team administrator to join our small, friendly and relaxed team at SCONUL, the professional association for academic and research libraries. The team currently works one to two days a week from our modern offices close to Euston station and the remainder of the week from home. 

You will be responsible for providing administrative support across all aspects of the organisation’s work, including diary management, the organisation of meetings and supporting the delivery of the SCONUL Access Scheme. It’s a role that provides scope for autonomy and to become involved in the full range of the organisation’s work and to develop a broad set of skills.

We are looking with someone with relevant office or administration experience who is well organised and with strong communication and IT skills. The role would suit someone who is self-motivated, flexible and happy to take the initiative.

Job description

• Organising the schedule of meetings for the SCONUL Board and SCONUL working Groups.

• Supporting the delivery of the SCONUL Access Scheme including:
  • answering routine queries from Access Scheme users, applicants and university administrators
  • providing SCONUL Access contacts with timely and relevant information about the scheme
  • providing routine technical support to applicants and university contacts responsible for processing applications and refer potentially more complex or disruptive technical problems
  • drafting changes to website content to reflect the scheme’s current practice and procedures.
• Supporting the delivery of SCONUL events including:
  • drafting and following up invitations to speakers and other participants with support from the Project Manager
  • managing and processing events registrations
  • booking accommodation and travel arrangements when required
  • production of event documentation
  • helping to manage events on site, including briefing and managing colleagues, volunteers, and external suppliers, supporting, advising and directing event participants.
• Processing invoices and other office paperwork.
• Answering general queries from members and students phoned into the office.
• Uploading content onto the SCONUL website and helping keep the content up to date.

We’re a small charity with a global reach and an important purpose: to reduce the burden of pulmonary vascular disease (PVD) - a serious condition that can lead to heart damage and trigger symptoms like breathlessness, chest pain, fatigue, poor growth, fainting, and light-headedness. The Minster Centre is a registered charity and company and specialist integrative counselling and psychotherapy training provider based in Queens Park, London. We are a leading training provider in the sector and currently have around 400 students attending training courses ranging from open access introductory courses to post-graduate degrees.

Thousands of therapists have trained at the Minster Centre since our inception in 1978 and we have an extensive community. Our courses are accredited by the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy), the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), and some are validated by Middlesex University. The Minster Centre Psychotherapy & Counselling Service (MCPCS) also provides a safe, affordable and professional counselling service to people over the age of 18 who are experiencing a range of difficulties. The service is provided by senior trainees who are in the process of completing their therapy training.

Job summary

The Registry Manager supports all aspects of training and course administration from first enquiry to graduation. This includes introductory courses, professional counselling and psychotherapy qualifications, and MA programmes validated by Middlesex University.  Reporting to the responsible Management Committee Lead, the Registry Manager ensures that we deliver efficient and effective services to support admissions, enrolment, university registration, assessment, progression, HESA data returns, awards, and graduation of our students.

The Registry Manager has line management responsibility for the course administrator, leads on course scheduling, managing student data, organising the Bursaries and Hardship Fund (the Minster Centre Fund), supports key committees, monitors academic progress, and ensures accurate information is presented at Assessment Boards. They will balance day-to-day student matters with supporting the team and working to improve administrative systems.

This is a varied role which is critical for the delivery of The Minster Centre’s strategic objectives and charitable aims. The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, or equivalent, and will have significant relevant experience of administration, ideally within the Higher Education or professional training sectors. A self-motivated person with proven management, communication and interpersonal skills. They will be adaptable, able to work as part of a team, and prioritise a challenging workload.

Main areas of responsibility

The Registry Manager will be responsible for:

Training and course administration

• Oversee and support the process for creating student teaching groups.
• Set and disseminate key dates in the academic calendar including term dates annually.

Student support and progression

• Liaise with and support the Operations Team in organising the annual Graduation event and ensuring all eligible students receive timely information.

Reporting

• Oversee and support the various HESA data returns as the liaison Senior Contact and ensure all data is accurate and meets various submission deadlines.
• Provide accurate statistical information to the Management Committee for inclusion in annual reports.

Staff management and stakeholder liaison

• Manage the Course Administrator.
• Work with Admissions, Quality, IT, Finance, Training, and Reception Teams throughout the academic year.
• Attend regular staff meetings and work with other key staff to market courses.
• Conduct annual appraisals.
• Be a key communication link across the staff and student community.
• Work with other key staff to ensure that information is provided accurately to students, staff, and the public via handbooks, Moodle, and the Minster Centre website.
• Liaise with Middlesex University at key points in the year.

About you

We are looking for someone with a proactive mindset, who has a creative approach to exploring data.Ideally you will have already had experience of working in the charity or non-profit sectors and have strong analytical and technical skills including an understanding of CRM systems, conducting statistical analysis such as regression and hypothesis testing and be proficient in data management and manipulation using tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, SPSS, R or similar.  You will be adept at working collaboratively with team members and external stakeholders to support the delivery of targeted projects and be comfortable working in a fast paced environment with shifting priorities.
