The Richmond & Hounslow Methodist Circuit is looking for a reliable and committed individual to support the life and work of our group of churches in SW London. They will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper organisation and management of our finances to enable our mission.
Key responsibilities:
- overseeing the Circuit’s day to day financial management
- supervising payroll and staff expenses

This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. For the right person, though, there will be considerable flexibility about how the duties are fulfilled in the longer-term. It is specifically expected that the role will allow for flexible scheduling to accommodate other responsibilities, including caring.
The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. As with all Methodist circuits, these churches function autonomously yet collaborate closely in their ministry and mission efforts. The Circuit oversees joint resources, including staff and property. Presently, it employs four full-time ordained ministers, one full-time lay pastor, and a part-time administrator. As a part of the Methodist Church, its mission is “to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission”. To fulfil this mission, the Circuit fosters a broad spectrum of ministry within its congregations, focusing on worship but also engaging in outreach to the homeless, asylum seekers, new parents, and various other groups. We are looking for a Team Leader in our London and South East Region to lead a team of Support and Outreach Workers to recruit and train vendors, support them to increase their income through selling the Big Issue magazine and ensure that they have the right skills and community connections to achieve their wider aspirations.
Here at the Big Issue Group we launched the Community Interest Company (CIC) to widen the support package we offer to our vendors and people in poverty. This is enabling us to provide not just sales support for our vendors selling the magazine but also outreach services such as wellbeing, financial, mental health and employment support.
Taking a leading role in our belief of a hand up, not a handout you will positively promote The Big Issue in your local area. You will lead on building networks and partnerships to support the work of the Big Issue and build opportunities for the people we support. You will positively model this partnership approach with your team.
You will have proven ability to lead and motivate a small team to understand and meet KPIs whilst working with vulnerable people, understand homelessness and the issues involved in casework with vulnerable adults, including safeguarding and Have experience of carrying outreach work within community settings and be confident in lone-working.
The role is based at out Finsbury Park Head Office but will involve travel throughout the region on a regular basis in a company vehicle. A full clean driving license will be required for the role. You will often be traveling to different areas of the region during the week providing outreach support, team support and magazine deliveries.

About this role…
Every role at Thames Reach is about ensuring that the users of our services find and sustain a decent home, develop supportive relationships and lead fulfilling lives. On our structured Traineeship scheme, you’ll gain first-hand experience and on-the-job training in what we do. You’ll be expected to work full time on a rota basis. Our placements involve a range of working patterns such as shifts, including evenings and weekends, night work in our fast-paced Rapid Response Outreach team and Monday to Friday 9-5 roles.
The key features are:
• A thorough induction, followed by two six-month placements at our projects, one of which will be hostel-based.
• With supervision and training from experienced staff to help our clients to get off and stay off the street with access to appropriate services.
• Learning about and assisting with necessary administration and record-keeping.

There is an opportunity for expanding the work of the Law Centre and showcasing the worth of health justice partnerships.We are looking for an energetic and compassionate lawyer with a broad experience of either housing or community care casework and representation, who is capable of being a legal aid category supervisor in either area, who has the confidence to lead the team and to develop it so that we can continue to make a real difference within the community.
Qualifications and experience
- 5 years’ PQE qualified lawyer, with demonstrable experience of management at a senior level.
- Ability to meet the supervisor for the Legal Aid Agency contract in either housing or community care.
- A track record of implementing and managing change.
- A track record of leading and motivating others demonstrating strong people skills.
- A track record of innovation and problem solving.
- Appropriate skills and experience that demonstrate an ability and commitment to manage staff effectively. This should include support, supervision, and appraisal and performance management.

- Experience of managing a Legal Aid Agency Contract and Legal Help matters, with billing targets.
