Responsibilities
• Travelling internationally to a wide range of locations, on a regular basis, conducting audits or special assignments; working with, and supporting NGOs, public sector organisations & institutional donors such as the UN.

About the role  

Smart Works are looking to appoint an exceptional Finance Manager to join our finance team at a time of significant growth for the organisation. Working closely with the existing finance team of four, the Finance Manager will play a crucial role in safeguarding the financial health of Smart Works Charity and its network of eleven centres across the UK. 

The Finance Manager will ensure financial systems and processes are followed, financial tasks are completed before deadlines and key stakeholders receive the financial information they need to make sound decisions. 

An important part of the role is to build excellent working relationships with non-financial employees working across Smart Works, so that information needed by the finance team is obtained in a timely fashion. Duties and responsibilities

• Comply with all financial systems and control processes for Smart Works.

Role overview.

Complete international grant expenditure audits for a diverse range of projects (grant recipients) funded by international donor institutions ranging from emergency aid, to long term development in areas such as agriculture, health or infrastructure or technical research. Assignments are 1-3 weeks in length and based across the European mainland and the developing world. About the role

The St Pancras Community Association (SPCA) is a charity delivering high quality services for Camden residents, especially the lively and diverse community of the St Pancras and Somers Town ward. Ivy Rock Partners is delighted to be supporting a leading global development organisation with the recruitment of an interim Programme Finance Officer to support the Programme Finance Manager in running an efficient and effective programme financial management and reporting processes in relation to their programmes and grants.

About the role

As Programme Finance Officer you will provide support to the full life cycle of grants: from donor concept proposals to final reports. You will maintain a close working relationship with all finance and programme teams and relevant staff across their international network and external donors. You will prepare financial information for internal reporting purposes, including the quarterly CEO report, monthly dashboards, and quarterly cash balance reports.

You will oversee the grants management and compliance processes, including maintaining the grants management tracker to ensure they are properly recorded and monitored. You will review budgets for proposals and make recommendations for improvements and liaise with the programme/partnerships team to ensure they are complete, accurate and compliant with donor requirements.

You will also carry out any other duties as assigned by the Programme Finance Manager or the Head of Finance and Operations.

About the Role

Humanists International has another separate entity based in the US. This role will be a part of the UK operations team but will collaborate with the US finance team occasionally when it’s required, for example, during the audit period. Both UK and US finance teams are managed by the same Director of Finance and Operations who is based in London. 

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can provide excellent finance and administrative support to the small, predominantly home-based team. We’re seeking someone who is personable, highly organised, has attention to detail and is keen to take initiative and learn new skills. Onboarding training will be provided, but we would like you to demonstrate transferable skills. 

You will work on a wide variety of tasks which will include bookkeeping and bank reconciliations, being the first point of contact for the organisation, as well as providing general administrative support to the team. You will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across a diverse international team.

Board meetings normally take 3 hours and investment committee meetings take 45 minutes. These meetings are usually planned 6-8 months in advance.  TOILs will be provided when the meeting is held outside your normal working hours.

• Assisting the CEO with board papers and circulating them to board members before board meetings.

• Arranging flights and accommodations for the CEO and board members to attend in-person meetings when required.

• Arranging meetings for the CEO when required.

• Assisting staff and board members with queries on finance or administrative matters.

Essential Skills

• Accounting, finance, or economics qualification.

• A minimum of two years’ experience in bookkeeping and administration roles. 

• Experience using financial software. e.g. Quickbooks, Xero, Sage or equivalent.

• Understanding of the chart of accounts structure, cash/accrual accounting basis.

• Understanding of the expense claim process.

• Experience preparing the budget. (Not necessarily the whole organisation’s budget, but specific section(s), for example, travel costs and fixed-costs related budget lines would be essential.)

Westway Trust is seeking a qualified accountant to join as our Head of Finance who will lead on all aspects of the finance function to achieve the Trusts goals.  You will also manage a small team and will offer strategic finance support across the range of activities undertaken by the organisation.

You will have significant experience operating at a senior level within a complex organisation and registered charity, and will possess the right blend and balance of strategic, communication, innovation and people skills.

Key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:

• Lead, manage and improve the Trust’s finance function and provide accurate, timely and relevant financial reports as required by the CEO, Executive Team and the Trust Board.
• Be the Executive Lead of the Finance Audit and Risk Committee, ensuring timely papers to the CEO and to the Committee and Board as required and liaising with the Head of Governance and HR as required.
• Ensure the provision and reporting of financial accounts, forecasting and large-scale project/programme budgets, estate development plans, and the associated reporting.
• Oversight of the legal and financial statutory processes in line with the Charity Commission and Companies House requirements, including the Annual Audit. Allocating tasks for timely responses and keeping all colleagues abreast of progress.
• Monitor, cash flow, reserves, analysis of performance against the organisation’s annual business plan and dashboard as it relates to the finance function.
• Contribute to the overall leadership of the Trust and to the Trust’s future strategic and operational planning. Support Executive Team colleagues as required on the delivery of cross-team initiatives.
• Line management of the Senior Finance Manager, the Debt Recovery Consultant and the Development Partnerships Lead.

Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes:

• Significant and successful experience of operating as a Head of Finance, ideally in a charity setting.
• A track record of working collaboratively with a team to develop successful internal partnerships and achieve joint success against shared objectives.
• Experience of the finance function and all the associated processes, with strong attention to detail.
• Experience of implementing enhanced reporting tools within financial software, including the ability to coach others.
• Practical knowledge of VAT, including accounting of partial exemption relevant to charities.
• Experience of managing staff and supporting their development.
• Strong interpersonal skills for both workplace and external representation contexts, operating with enthusiasm, flexibility, energy and commitment and demonstrating credibility and gravitas.

Desirable Experience, Skills and Attributes:

• A good understanding of the local area.
• Experience of change management.
• Competency in use of Access Dimensions, Focal Point and other MS Office software packages.

Qualification:

• Must hold a formally recognised professional accounting qualification.

An international healthcare charity is seeking a Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to join their central finance team in London. 

The organisation works worldwide, working in partnership with community-level and national organisations and government to deliver support on important and high profile healthcare programmes. The Financial Planning & Analysis Manager oversees the financial planning and analysis function for the charity, working to drive financial performance and support the charity in deciding strategy. Reporting into the Head of Finance, your responsibilities will be:

To ensure effective support and delivery of organisational objectives, theis position plays a critical role in maintaining an efficient month end, ensuring accurate financial data, preparation of financial reports, carrying out the annual/audit process.

* Coordinate with country offices to consolidate financial data and ensure consistency, accuracy and transparency of financial reporting.

* Operating a smooth and disciplined month end with all balance sheet accounts reconciled and full monthly management pack and management accounts submitted to the Global Head of Finance.

* Preparation of full management accounts, analysis and presentation of accurate financial reports, including income/expenditure statements, balance sheet, cash flow statements, KPIs and forecasting.

* Monitor budgets, track expenditure, and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures. Provide guidance and support to budget holders in budget development, cost control, and financial accountability.

* Coordinate with the Finance Business Partners to prepare/review restricted donor financial reports, ensuring the data reflects the records on the accounting system and meets donor compliance.

* Work with the Head of Global Finance to prepare the financial statements and manage the year end audit process/relationship.

* Work closely with the Head of Global Finance to support the annual budget process including interim forecasts and cash flows.

The organisation Working with a very well-established charitable foundation, the organisation comprises of three independent schools and two state-funded academies.

They are the holding company which owns the school land and buildings and manages the endowments valued at c.£50m. The Foundation Office delivers a "head office" type finance function for the Group and a range of other services to the schools, including governance and HR.

Your role The Group Finance Manager will work within a small team and an extended team of around 15-20 finance staff in the schools. The post reports to the Group Finance Director and the finance function are assisted by a part-time Finance Officer. The core part of the role is the production of the
annual report. You will also manage the group cash treasury system, managing 20+ bank accounts.

You will manage significant investments and investment property. You will also maintain an accurate cash flow forecast for the group. The annual audit is also a major part of the work, and you will be expected to play a key part in the management of the audit and preparation of the financial information for both the Foundation, and its trading subsidiaries and charitable trusts. There are significant capital projects in the pipeline which will also require support.
What you will need to succeed
You will be a fully qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA/CIPFA)
Experience and Skills:

• Recent experience of group consolidation and reconciliation of intercompany balances
• Knowledge of Restricted, Designated and Unrestricted funds
• Some knowledge of education or charity sector trends.
• Experience of working effectively as part of a broad team across a group with subsidiaries.
• Excellent working knowledge of current accounting concepts and the ability to communicate financial information clearly and simply.
• Experience of producing statutory and management accounts.
• Experience of working with auditors from planning to audit clearance.
