The Role

As Global Head of Finance, you will lead a small, dedicated international team, overseeing strategic financial planning, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across UK and US entities.

You’ll play a key role on the Fund’s management team, ensuring financial integrity, promoting sustainable growth, and partnering across functions to embed strong financial practices organisation-wide.

This is both a strategic and hands-on role, offering the opportunity to guide long-term financial direction while staying closely connected to day-to-day operations and people.

Duties include, but aren’t limited to:

• Financial planning, reporting and strategy: managing annual budget cycle, produce monthly, quarterly and annual finance reports.
• Compliance, Audit and Risk Management: Oversee annual audits for both US and UK entities, support compliance checks and procurement systems meet organisational and donor requirements.
• Investment, Treasury and External Relations: Monitor and management investment and cash accounts across both the US and UK – optimising returns. Managing external banking, investment and lease negotiations, managing annual vendor negotiations and renewals globally.
• Systems optimisation and process improvement.
• Team leadership: Lead and support the finance team, reviewing outputs, resolving issues to support high performance. Oversee financial training to all budget holders to maintain financial literacy and accountability across the organisation.

Essential experience

The successful candidate will possess blends of technical financial expertise with operational leadership with a continuous commitment to purpose-driven work. You will have:

• Professional financial qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Senior-level finance experience in an international charity or NGO sector.
• Strong familiarity with both UK SORP and US GAAP.

Purpose Of Role

This is a newly created collaborative and integral role within the Joint Finance Team across the Dioceses of Winchester and Portsmouth. The Dioceses of Winchester and Portsmouth (DBF) act as the custodian trustee for our parishes (PCC) across both dioceses and manage funds in excess of £30m across c.620 funds.

This role will be responsible for seeking ways to identify the purposes of these funds and creating a bespoke database to assist with the day-to-day oversight.  Reporting to the Heads of Finance, the role will support the Finance Officer and Finance Assistant with the delivery of treasury functions to our parishes, through enabling prompt identification of the relevant information to enable investment transactions to take place. 

Job Summary

· Create a master list of the funds and related account details with the relevant investors. 

· Review the electronic and paper archive information for details of restrictions around funds and confirm the accuracy and completeness of the information.

· Identify funds where restrictions may no longer be relevant and provide guidance on how these may be wound up.

· Identify small / low value balances where Charity Commission rules may allow alternative action to be taken with the fund.

· Identify endowments where permission could be sought to spend the capital, if income flows are insufficient for requirements. 

· Identify any small trusts with similar purposes where there may be opportunity to combine trusts to alleviate some of the administrative burden. 

· Produce an action plan based on the findings of the above and work with the Heads of Finance to implement the plan. 

· Review the PCC annual accounts for accurate reporting of their funds, based on the details of restrictions around the funds. 

·  To provide other assistance as may occasionally be required by senior members of the Joint Finance Team.  

Key role requirements

This is an office-based 12-month fixed-term part-time role of 21 hours per week, with the expectation to work from the office 2 days per week.

You will need to be/have:

· An understanding of charity finance, different fund types and Charity Commission guidance in relation to these is essential. 

· A background in finance or bookkeeping is desirable. 

· An ability to understand and interpret legal or trust documentation is desirable. 

· Experience of Xledger accounting systems would be advantageous but not essential; experience of working with Microsoft Suite applications and financial accounting systems is essential.  

· Knowledge and experience of working in a large and complex organisation is desirable

About the role:

The post holder will support Respect’s Head of Finance to deliver an efficient budget holder support service to Respect’s Deputy Director of the Drive Partnership. Our partner is seeking a consultant to conduct a review of its finance function, including structure, processes and systems with a view of improving effectiveness and efficiency. This exercise stems from the fact that the finance function of the organisation has developed organically over the course of the organisation’s life and growth, covering the expansion of programmes and the opening of new administrative offices.

Scope of the Review

• Review of the current structure - assess what functions are best delivered in each location, the skillset of finance staff and what capacity is needed in each location to deliver these services.

• Advise on how the finance function might operate more effectively as a global function

• A qualified senior finance professional with experience of change management within an international not for profit, specifically reviewing the structure of the finance function, undertaking in-depth review and analysis of global processes and systems.
• Experience of working in a complex grant-funded environment with knowledge of full grants cycle management.

About the role

What you’ll do

As Finance Executive, you’ll play a key role in keeping our day-to-day finance operations running smoothly; from processing transactions and performing reconciliations, to ensuring our partners are billed correctly and pay on time. You'll be a key point of contact for finance queries across the business, and your work will be essential to maintaining accurate records and enabling wider decision-making. You'll also play an important role in driving process improvements, and support the team by analysing data and producing insightful reports that inform decision making.

This is a varied role where you’ll get exposure to lots of different areas within the finance function of a SaaS company. It’s perfect if you’re keen to explore your interests and gain a solid grounding across multiple aspects of finance.

• Record, process and reconcile transactions for the company using platforms like Spendesk and Xero, and ensure transactions are accurately recorded and categorised. 
• Manage our finance email inbox, responding to queries from schools, universities and employers. 
• Manage our accounts receivable processes, keeping track of overdue invoices, chasing partners for payment and recording received payments. 
• Support our sales teams with general finance related queries and keeping their partner records up to date on Salesforce (our CRM system).
• Improve, streamline and automate processes within the finance function. 
• Get involved with projects such as:
  • Setting up a simple way to keep track of the subscriptions we pay for, and make sure we’re getting good value from them.
  • Finding solutions to increase the number of invoices paid on time.
  • Creating useful reports and dashboards on Salesforce to aid decision making. 
• Support the Finance Lead to:
  • Prepare the payroll for our accountants (including commission calculations) and manage associated schemes (e.g. pension contributions).
  • Manage our accounts payable processes, making and recording payments. 
  • Work on forecasting and variance analysis to support business planning.
  • Check through our quarterly VAT return.
  • Manage the banking for our much smaller Hong Kong and US companies.
• Support the Head of Finance (your line manager) to:
  • Create the annual budget.
  • Support on ad-hoc projects and data analysis requests.

Who we’re looking for

You’ve got some experience in a finance or operations role, or you can demonstrate that you’ve built the relevant skills in another setting and are ready to learn more.

• You’re organised and methodical, with strong attention to detail that helps keep things running smoothly and accurately.
• You enjoy solving problems and thinking critically about how things can be improved, streamlined or automated.
• You’re quick to learn new systems and tools, you might not have used platforms like Xero or Salesforce before, but you’re keen to get stuck in.
• You take ownership of your work, following through on tasks and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.
• You’re proactive and hands-on, excited to go beyond your core responsibilities to improve how we work and help make it a success.
• Being a proficient user of Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot table, x-lookup) is a bonus.
• Having an educational background in Finance, Accounting or a Business related discipline is desirable, but not essential. 

Working together

We’re a small but mighty team of 3 within Finance (this role included). You’ll be line managed by the Head of Finance and will be working very closely with our Finance Lead too. You’ll also have regular contact with most people across the Unifrog, especially our partner-facing teams and the People team. You’ll also be liaising with our external accountants who take lead with the financial accounting and payroll side of things.

Key details 

• £33,000 - £36,000 per year, depending on experience (Grade B).
• This position is advertised as Finance Executive, though internally it will be referred to as Finance Coordinator to better align with Unifrog job titles. 
• Work remotely, or flexibly in our London or Edinburgh office.
• 28 days paid holiday per year (plus bank holidays).
• Working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9am to 4:30pm on Friday.

Interim Financial Controller - 6-9 months maternity contract

Charity People are proud to be working with a £4million turnover trust based in London, to recruit for an interim Financial Controller. This is a maternity contract for 6-9 months. My client is seeking a motivated and hands-on finance professional to step into a pivotal role during maternity cover. The organisation has been through a period of significant change, and are looking for someone who can quickly take the reins and oversee all aspects of financial management, supported by a capable Finance Officer. This is a role for someone who thrives on rolling up their sleeves, bringing structure, and driving improvements.

You will have the opportunity to review and strengthen financial policies and processes, ensuring best practice across the organisation. In addition, my client is in the process of scoping a move to a new accounting system - offering the chance to play a key role in shaping and leading a system transformation.

Salary: £65,000 per annum + between 7.5% - 10% employer pension contributions

Contract: 35 hours per week, full time

Hybrid: Flexible home working, working from the office one to two days a week

Some of your key duties and responsibilities are;

• Management Accounts and payroll
• Preparation of monthly management reports and variance analysis. Responsible for balance sheet reconciliations,
  cash flow, payroll and headcount, key performance indicators and financial dashboard reports, commentary and
  analysis.
• To ensure the integrity of financial activities and financial records by developing, implementing, and maintaining
  accurate and efficient processes for all financial activity
• Manage payroll and pension functions, owning the relationship with our payroll provider and ensuring the necessary
  payments and returns are made to HMRC within the timescales required. Liaise with our payroll provider to ensure
  the year-end payroll is completed and the necessary returns issued to staff and HMRC (e.g. P11D)

  management information.
• In conjunction with the COO, prepare annual budgets and forecast in line with the foundation's strategy and business plan
• Plan the annual audit - ensuring that the information and reports are made to the auditors in a timely fashion
• Preparation of the Foundation's annual statutory group accounts in accordance with regulatory requirements managing the relationship with the auditors
• VAT - Monitor the VAT positions of the Charity and Subsidiary company. Corporation tax filing
• Continual review and improvement of internal control processes
• Maintenance of relevant processes and systems to ensure the smooth running of the finance function
• Deputise for the COO.

• A recognised CCAB qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)

The Role

As Deputy Shop Manager at our Ripon Shop you will manage the day-to-day operation of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager, including managing a team of volunteers, ensuring accurate accounting and handling of assets, delivering high standards of customer service, and adhering to all charity policies and procedures. · Provide cover for days off, holidays and sickness as required, with possible occasional travel to other shops to provide support if needed by the charity.

· Support the Shop Manager to maximise the income and profit of the shop through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation.

· Manage a team of well-trained volunteers in the absence of the Shop Manager and take every effort to create a positive retail environment.

· Ensure there are sufficient volunteers to support the effective operation of the shop during all opening hours.

· Support the Shop Manager to ensure the shop is presented to the highest standards with attractive visual merchandising and attractive window displays.

· Support the Shop Manager to ensure that all charity policies, shop standards and operating procedures are communicated effectively to all volunteers and are maintained and followed in a consistent manner.

· Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received).

· Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes.

· Create a welcoming professional atmosphere and deliver high standards of customer service for all customers and supporters.

About You

The Job

We are recruiting Finance Business Partners to support research teams and collaborate closely with the central finance team. In this role, you will be part of a research centre, working with budget holders and research leads to provide an effective and efficient financial service. Research funding comes from a mixture of grants/contracts from government, foundations, and (to a lesser extent) corporates.

Responsibilities will include producing regular quarterly forecasts and the annual budget, supporting project costing, overseeing financial management of research projects, and providing variance analysis. You will also collaborate on the production of management accounts, support financial accruals and income recognition, and contribute to the preparation of annual statutory accounts. Additionally, you will oversee auditing processes, ensure project reporting meets funding requirements, and support the implementation of a new finance system.

The Person

We are looking for an ACA/CA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant with experience in business partnering, financial project management, and setting budgets and forecasts. Experience in the charity/not-for-profit sector is advantageous, as is knowledge of different funders, philanthropic foundations, government departments, international organisations, businesses, and NGOs (grants and donor reporting). The ideal candidate will be able to present financial information clearly, work with accuracy and consistency, balance multiple deadlines, and have a proactive, self-motivating, and collaborative approach. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels are essential.
