We partner with expert local organisations working on the front line of addressing health inequalities, corporate sector, universities, and policy-makers, to understand the effectiveness of different approaches to improving people's quality of life and health. By using the connections, evidence and expertise we have developed, we influence government on how to shape policy that tackles the real causes of poor health.

We are seeking a qualified accountant with charity financial management experience to join our Finance, Audit and Operations Committee as an independent member. You will provide scrutiny to the committee, ensuring the Trust is in sound financial shape and that there is a strong framework for accountability. You will use your expertise to advise on financial planning and reporting and risk management.

The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is a membership organisation and charity supporting the profession of planners in the UK. Planners 'make spaces', they work alongside communities, companies and politicians to decide the best way to use land and buildings to shape and develop both urban and rural areas. The RTPI works to raise professional standards, shape planning policy, and awards chartered status for those working in planning.

Finance Committee at the Royal Town Planning Institute plays a pivotal role in the Institute's central governance, overseeing on how the RTPI’s financial assets are being managed and employed for the benefits of its members. The Committee is a mix of members of the RTPI Board of Trustees and independent co-opted members. It reports directly to the Board who then report to the Institute's General Assembly.

The Committee oversees financial management, investments and major projects. Worth Unlimited is a national children’s charity embedded in local communities, whose mission is to create spaces where young people are heard, are valued and can grow.  We mentor and counsel young people one to one and in groups in schools and in the community. We run workshops and drop in sessions and carry out open access work within our local areas.

Peer Power Youth is a national charity that leads with empathy, supporting young people who have experienced trauma. The organisation provides life skills, training, and work experience, while working in partnership with young people to drive meaningful change across mental health services, justice, and social services. The Role

Peer Power Youth is seeking a Trustee with responsibility for overseeing all financial aspects of the charity on behalf of the Board. This individual will advise the Board on financial matters, safeguarding both the short- and long-term financial stability of the organisation. They will ensure effective internal financial controls, oversee risk management, and guarantee that accurate, insightful financial information is shared internally and externally as required.

The Role:

We are currently seeking a Finance Trustee to join our Board as Treasurer. It’s a voluntary role that requires a committed individual with financial expertise to take a collaborative approach, supporting our Trustees, our Head of Finance and Governance, and our management team to oversee the financial affairs of our charity and ensure that they are legal, constitutional, and within accepted accounting practice.

As well as fulfilling the duties of a Trustee, the Treasurer ensures that effective and appropriate financial measures, controls, and procedures are put in place and reports to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation.

• Overseeing the presentation of budgets, internal management accounts, and annual financial statements, as produced by the finance team or others where appropriate, to the Board of Trustees
• Ensuring that proper accounting records are kept, and that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place. 
• Liaising with any paid staff about financial matters, as appropriate.
• Ensuring that robust and comprehensive financial policies are in place and being implemented, and supporting the development of policies covering financial reserves, and cost management. 
• Overseeing financial controls and adherence to systems. 
• Drawing any major financial concerns to the attention of the trustee and the management team.
• Ensuring that the charity has appropriate reserves in line with its reserves policy, and monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity. 
• Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan, including overseeing the charity’s financial risk-management process.
• Ensuring that the charity has an appropriate investment policy and that investments and assets are maximised.
• Leading on the appointment of and liaison with external auditors.

The Person We’re Looking For:

• A finance professional with a firm understanding of charity finance and some experience of fundraising and pension schemes.
• Knowledge of charity fundraising, bid writing, and/or other income generation and/or securing funding through creation or leveraging of partnerships and networks (at a national or local level).
• A strategic thinker with an ability to balance risk and opportunity and the skills to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences.
• Clear communicator with the ability to explain financial information to members of the Board and other stakeholders.
• Willing to play an active role in areas such as forecasting, setting budgets, and liaising with auditors.

In addition, the Treasurer will also have the responsibilities and qualities of all Trustees.

• Demonstrating a commitment to G&C’s objectives

Hillingdon Women’s Centre is seeking to recruit enthusiastic new Trustees to join our existing Board and actively contribute to the existing strength and growth of the charity!

Trustees typically attend monthly board meetings, with occasional activities between meetings. The estimated time commitment is around 2 hours per typical month. As with all our Trustee roles we are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and someone who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board. For the Finance Trustee role you will:

· ideally be a qualified accountant

· have experience in financial management including budgets and forecasts, cash flow, investments and liquidity and financial systems

· an understanding of the audit process

You do not need previous governance experience – we will provide a full induction and training.

Terms of appointment

Terms of office

· There is currently no fixed term of office.

· This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Time commitment

· Attending 4 Board meetings annually including the AGM. Currently meetings are held in person at Julian Support’s Head Office, 23 Pilling Park Road, Norwich, NR1 4PA

· Attending 2 Board Strategy days and training days as required

Committee membership

Ad hoc and occasional support through working groups and / or support to the executive team.

Additional requirement

Please note, all Trustees are required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and hold an up-to-date certificate. The DBS check will be arranged by Julian Support.

The Role

We are now seeking a Trustee with strong financial skills and sound understanding of the regulatory and governance landscape to join our Board, act as the lead for financial oversight, and help guide the organisation through its next stage of growth and impact.

Trustees are expected to use their knowledge, skills, and experience to ensure that Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity achieves its charitable objectives, represents the interests of all stakeholders, and acts as ambassadors for the charity.

Principle Responsibilities

· Strategic Leadership: Provide direction and advice that aligns with the charity's strategic plan and objectives, ensuring we stay true to RDMCC's mission and values.

· Governance and Compliance: Ensure effective governance and the smooth running of the organisation, maintaining financial stability and adhering to all legal and regulatory requirements, including those set by the Charity Commission.

· Financial Oversight: Monitor the charity's financial health, ensuring strong internal controls, risk management, and financial reporting. Consider the financial impact of new or revised activities, making sure RDMCC operates within its means.

· Strategic Approval: Approve strategic plans, budgets, reserves policies, and authorisation limits, ensuring that RDMCC has the resources-both financial and human-to meet its goals.

· Executive Support: Recruit, appoint, and support the Chief Executive, delegating the day-to-day management of the organisation to them while providing oversight.

· Investments: Ensuring that our funds are invested responsibly and with care.

· Representation: Represent the Board at events, engaging with external stakeholders to promote and advance RDMCC's mission.

· Stakeholder Engagement: Connect with volunteers, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders to stay informed about our activities and the issues that affect our work.

· Ambassadorship: Act as an ambassador for RDMCC, upholding our reputation and promoting our values in all your activities.

· Remuneration Oversight: Oversee the remuneration, compensation, and benefits provided to staff, ensuring they are fair and aligned with the charity's policies and legal requirements.

Finance responsibilities

· To Chair the Finance & Investment Sub-committee.

· Oversee the financial strategy, budget and long-term sustainability of the charity.

· Liaise with the CEO and Director of Finance and HR on key financial matters.

· Support the development of management accounts, annual accounts, and statutory returns, ensuring compliance with charity law, Companies Act (where applicable), and relevant regulations (e.g., SORP).

· Lead on relationship management with external auditors.

· Ensure that robust financial controls, risk management processes, and policies are in place and adhered to.

Time Commitment & Location

-  Approximately 10 days per year.

- Trustees are required to attend an induction at our office in Amersham.

- Trustees are expected to prepare for and attend all board meetings, held 3 times per year, generally in London during normal office hours, lasting approximately 3-4 hours.

- Trustee to chair the Finance and Investment sub-comittee.  These meetings take place virtually, also 3 times per year.

Recovery Partners are a small user-led mental health charity working across East Sussex. All of our staff have lived experience of mental health challenges. Our Peer Support Specialists are trained, employed and supported to inspire others in wellbeing and recovery. We offer services to individuals and groups.

We are at an exciting and pivotal stage in our journey. As we grow and strengthen our peer support approach within our communities, we are looking to welcome a Treasurer onto our Board. 

What will you be doing?

As well as fulfilling the duties of a Trustee, the Treasurer maintains an overview of Recovery Partner’s financial affairs. The Treasurer ensures that effective and appropriate financial measures, controls and procedures are put in place and reports to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation. 

Time commitment estimated at 8 - 12 hours per month
