The Mental Health Recovery Pathway (MHRP) service provides day service opportunities for people with low and medium Preventative Care Needs.

We are currently looking to offer volunteering placements with our Mental Health Recovery Pathway (MHRP) – a mental health provision based across three sites in Islington responding to the mental health needs of Islington residents.

You will be assisting service users who experience mental distress in group settings.

We ask for a commitment of at least 1 day a week 10:15am – 4:00pm for a full year (+ about 2-3 months for DBS check and induction), though there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer more than one day a week.

London City Mission (LCM) shares the gospel alongside the local church of London, equipping everyday Christians to lovingly bring a message of hope in Christ to those least likely to hear it.

Webber Street is LCM’S Day Centre for people who are homeless - based just around the corner from Waterloo station. We welcome up to 70 guests a day - we seek to give them not only relief from life on the streets, but also help in taking the first step out of homelessness.

We also seek to meet the emotional and spiritual needs of guests, as well as the physical ones, to help restore some of the dignity that life on the streets has taken from them and to share the life-transforming news of Jesus!

Role Description:

Morning Volunteer (Mondays to Thursdays 8:00-12:30)

This role involves serving our guests breakfast at our morning sessions when we usually have around 60-80 guests each session. Our volunteers come from many walks of life, backgrounds and church traditions, we want to make the best use of your gifts to connect with all of our guests and provide relevant support to them.

No. of volunteers required:  3 each morning

Afternoon Volunteer (Mondays to Thursdays 13:00-16:00)

You can also join us in helping at our weekly afternoon sessions when we have a smaller number of guests. Perhaps you have a gift of listening and coming alongside others; maybe you have artistic gifts where you can come up with new ideas for art and crafts activities and taking the lead in making these happen; maybe you have the skills to help the men with their CVs; maybe you like to show hospitality in welcoming our guests or have a heart serve drinks and refreshments; you can also join or be the lead of our weekly Bible Group.

Our weekly afternoon schedule are as follows:

Mondays- Arts group

Wednesdays- Bible group

Thursdays- Drop in (fortnightly)

Women only space (Fridays 9:00-12:30)

This is a designated safe space for women guests which operates once per week at our centre.  You can join our team if you would like to support our women guests.

Centre Team

This role involves supporting the centre practically by working in our clothes store, assisting in the kitchen, and doing other practical jobs around the building such as maintenance. It's a hands-on type of role but a vital part of the ongoing ministry of Webber Street.

General Tasks

The role of volunteers at Webber Street Day Centre is to welcome and care for our guests from homeless communities. You will help to ensure smooth operation of the Day Centre by preparing the space and leaving, to help with respective activities based on its weekly programme. Specific duties will include some of the following:

Morning sessions:

o Meeting and welcoming the people who come to Webber Street Day Centre

o Assisting our staff and other volunteers in preparing the room for our guests and leaving it clean and tidy at the end of the session

o Socialising and chatting with those who attend

o Having gospel conversations with our guests

o Praying with guests at their request

o Signposting guests to where they can get help and advice

Afternoon sessions:

o Similar to the tasks in morning session, while volunteer may lead or help with art and craft activities, lead or help with bible group, welcoming guests and help with refreshments.

We are looking for Christians have a compassionate heart to care for those on the margins of society and want to put their faith into action by serving.

We want to make the best use of your gifts and experience, as well as finding a time that fits with your schedule, so we’ll work with you to define how we can serve best. We have volunteers commit to come weekly, fortnightly or monthly etc.

Support the Executive Support team at the Scope Here East office with some general office tasks. This will develop your experience of how a corporate office function operates and will give you an insight in how to work with Senior Leaders at an organisation.

KNA’s Office Volunteers are the link between KNA’s 40+ Driving Volunteers and our 200+ beneficiaries in Kew – who are often elderly and vulnerable.  Our beneficiaries phone the KNA Office requesting to go to medical appointments and to get The Avenue Club.  The role of our Office Volunteers is to link our Volunteer Drivers with people in Kew who need transport.

Our Charity

Kew Neighbourhood Association (KNA, Charity no. 1196093) was established in Kew in 1977 by local residents. 

KNA’s charitable objectives are the provision of services and facilities for people in Kew who are housebound or have mobility difficulties, without regard to race, sex, politics, religion, etc.  KNA has a committee of Trustees, including a Chair and Treasurer, and is administered by 3 part-time salaried staff from a small office in St Luke’s House, Sandycombe Road. Our office volunteers can use this space or work from home. 

KNA is funded principally by grants from other charities, from Richmond Council and by donations and fundraising events.

KNA’s current activities are:

• providing lifts by volunteer drivers in their own cars to those needing transport to medical appointments (e.g., GP or hospital) and to day centres, etc. (mainly the Avenue Club in Kew);

• providing volunteer companionship to isolated residents by periodic visits in their homes, accompanying them for local walks and to local cafes, cinema, theatre, cricket, etc.;

• assisting those in need of help with shopping and some light gardening;

• providing Moments of Joy to help our beneficiaries feel remembered in and valued by their community including an annual tea party for clients. 

Statistics

KNA has over 200 clients, around 40 drivers, and 28 companionship volunteers.  KNA carries out about 3,000 driving, shopping, gardening, prescription pick up and companionship jobs each year in Kew, TW9.

Volunteering for KNA is extremely flexible.  It is designed to fit around you and your other commitments. We do ask for a minimum commitment of helping for six months as it costs money to carry out DBS checks and to onboard volunteers.

Following a period of growth and reflection, we are embarking on the journey to establish our own charity.

The new charity will become a platform for us to grow our reach and impact, delivering more transformational programmes for young people.

We are looking for exceptional candidates to join our Trustee Board, providing strategic guidance and oversight during this crucial transition.

Trustee Duties and Responsibilities

• Support and provide advice on 2-3 Degrees Legacy CIO’s purpose, vision, goals and activities. 
• Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
• Oversee 2-3 Degrees Legacy CIO’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress. 
• Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
  • Contribute to regular reviews of 2-3 Degrees Legacy CIO’s own governance. 
  • Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
• Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
• Harness personal and professional networks to support our fundraising strategy.
• Keep abreast of changes in 2-3 Degrees Legacy CIO’s operating environment.
• Use independent judgement, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect 2-3 Degrees Legacy CIO’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third party interests.

Support

• 2-3 Degrees Legacy CIO is committed to developing and supporting our Trustees throughout their time on the Board, from initial induction to training and mentoring.

Time commitment

• Trustees are volunteers. You should be able to commit at least half day a month (4 hours) to support the work of the charity. This will include keeping abreast of the work of the charity through reading staff reports and attending Trustee Board meetings four times a year, responding to emails and providing advice and support to staff as necessary. In addition, you should be able to attend at least one full Board Development Day per year.

• Alongside this, Trustees are expected to have a passion for the 2-3 Degrees mission and engaging with young people, this should be reflected (but not limited to) attending a minimum of 2 workshops per year to stay engaged with the impact of the organisation and its key events. 

Term of office

• Trustees are appointed for a three-year term of office.

The Brompton Fountain is a children's charity working with those impacted by heart and lung conditions in Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals. Our charity provides a wide range of vital resources, services, parent/carer amenities, and accommodation. We also fund medical equipment, facilities improvements and projects outside of the NHS remit. We are currently looking for a Fundraising and Events Volunteer to help our organisation . 

We would like the volunteer to help with:

• Stewardship at events to help families and guests.

• Supporting staff with admin at these events so that processes run smoothly.

• Communicating with families and guests who may share personal stories related to the charity. Feeling comfortable and confident to speak to people about our charity and what we do.

• Organising resources for fundraising and event days e.g care packs, running shirts, signage.

Location

Whilst we are based at Royal Brompton Hospital, Sydney St, London SW3 6NP, your role will mainly be off site at different locations around London and the South-East to help at fundraising and community events.

Time

Due to our mission, we would greatly appreciate at least 6 weeks of your time, preferably more. This role would not be a set day a week, but rather be for fundraising and event days. These days would normally be Saturdays and Sundays, averaging once a month. We are an understanding and flexible organisation, and would be happy to discuss options with you.
