Cecil Gardens is a large service containing ninety-nine apartments, close to the city centre of Hull and easily accessible by public transport. The service supports adults with a wide variety of needs including Over 18s, Mental Health needs, Older People, Learning Disabilities and Autism. Our service users live in self-contained apartments and have access to several communal spaces, including a restaurant, a hairdressers and a spa.
We are looking for several volunteers to assist with our activities. We have a large service close to the city centre in Hull. Our housing provider organises a wide range of group activities presently which you could assist with. This role would include helping to set up the room, moving tables and chairs if necessary, making sure that all of the materials and equipment are ready for the session to begin. Assist with the activity when needed, providing clear instructions. Tidy away the materials and equipment at the end of the session, ensuring that the room has been returned to its original setting.
We are also looking for volunteers to set up and run new activity sessions in the evenings and weekends, when there are currently no provisions. The activities can be anything from art and crafts, board games, cooking groups, bingo, walking groups, Digital skills, film groups, and many more. Your role will include promoting the group to our service users, planning and preparing for the activity making sure the materials and equipment are ready, providing clear instructions and assisting with the activity when needed, and tidying away at the end of the session.

We have a fantastic space located in Accrington Town Centre where we would like to hold fun and exciting sessions for our service users. The sessions can be arts and crafts, music lessons, or board games. Our service users will be involved in deciding the types of activity sessions we hold, and you will be helping us to provide opportunities for people to relax, try new activities, to meet new people and much more. GFS Heywood - Activity Leader:
Our mission is to support and inspire girls and young women. As an Activity Leader, you will create spaces where girls feel safe and valued, so that they can build strong foundations that will prepare them for life’s challenges.
GFS Activity Leaders are people who want help deliver fun and inspiring sessions to girls and young women, with the opportunity to lead on certain tasks. Our new GFS Heywood Group runs in Heady Hill Community Centre, Whalley Road, Heywood, OL10 3JG every Tuesday during term time from 6.00pm.
What you will be doing:
· Engaging with and listening to girls and young women weekly, to make them feel supported, valued and inspired to try new things.
· Treating every girl with respect and kindness, helping her to feel proud of who she is.
· Helping run activities for the girls, organising any materials needed for the sessions and helping with set up, tidy up and refreshments
· Supporting and contributing to termly planning team meetings to create a programme of activities alongside the Group Leader/Coordinator. We’ll also provide support through themed session plans and step-by-step activity guides on the GFS website.
· Leading on activities as agreed with the volunteer team
· Sharing ideas and feedback given by the girls to the Group Leader/Coordinator to help create a truly girl-led termly programme.
· Helping with First Aid or Food Hygiene in the group as needed
· Keeping girls safe by informing your GFS Staff contact about any issues or concerns for girls’ wellbeing and report safeguarding concerns that you, or any other volunteers, have as soon as possible.
· Treating every girl, parent, volunteer and task within the GFS values of being girl-focused, brave, feminist, ambitious, inclusive and fun.
· Understanding GFS policy and procedures and follow them, especially safeguarding
What makes an Activity Leader?
· Happy to be a supportive member of the volunteer team, helping out wherever needed and communicating with the Group Leader/Coordinator and fellow volunteers about availability
· A passion for building the confidence of girls and young women through fun and inspiring activities

Need to know:

Time commitment

On a weekly basis, volunteers would commit to roughly 2 – 3 hours per week, plus an extra 1 – 1.5 hours for planning every term.
Weekly:

Arriving as an asylum seeker in the UK can be a terrifying and disempowering experience. Difficulties with language, accessing services and overcoming prejudice are ever-present. About CARAS Adult Programme:
Alongside educational and casework support, CARAS has a thriving social program of weekly activities, from women’s yoga, to creative coffee afternoons, sports sessions and workshops, designed and built in collaboration with our community, volunteers and local partners. Most people we work with in the adult team are waiting for a decision on their asylum claim, are accommodated in cramped and inadequate hotels contracted by the Home Office for up to – and sometimes more than – 2 years whilst they wait for a decision on their asylum claim. During this time, they are eligible for only £8.86 per week and are prohibited from working. This is an incredibly stressful and disempowering period for those seeking asylum. Against this backdrop, our social activities exist as spaces of welcome, for people to come and make meaningful connections, build confidence and importantly – have fun!
About the Trips and Holiday Activities Project:
Alongside our weekly timetable of term time activities, we run trips across London during the school holidays. These are always chosen and planned together with our community members, and so far have included trips to famous parks, museums, galleries, and the theatre. We know from our community members how important these trips are; they are a chance to explore parts of the city that would otherwise be inaccessible, and to feel more at home in the city. As one community member told us, ‘to discover new places…this makes us feel included’. They are an opportunity to learn something new with others, to meet new people, relax and have fun.
About the Role:
To support us with these trips and holiday activities, we are looking for friendly, welcoming, enthusiastic and proactive volunteers. You will support us practically to ensure the trips run smoothly and on time, but also will be an essential part of our community of welcome – to chat and get to know our community members, and make sure everyone feels included and is having a good time.
We intend to hold 2 trips in the Easter holidays, and up to 5 trips in the summer holidays. These will all be in locations across London, most likely during daytime hours. We will also run a combination of adult-only and child-friendly trips across the year – this is what our community have told us they want! We usually have a group of 10-20 community members and will always have at least one CARAS staff member present too.
Ideally, we are looking for volunteers who are flexible during school holidays and can attend at least 3 trips throughout the year, though we may consider those who might only be able to volunteer on a one-off basis.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
To attend CARAS trips as and when you are available to do so.
To support with the logistics of travelling to and from the trip location.
To keep an eye on the general health and wellbeing of our Community Members and report any concerns to the CARAS staff member present.
To encourage positive connections between people and the places we are visiting, opening up conversations to learn about each other.
On family-friendly trips, to assist where needed with the supervision of children present (alongside parents)
Requirements – Essential:
To be 18 years or older;
To be non-judgemental and able to engage with people from diverse cultural backgrounds;
To be reliable and punctual;
To be welcoming, friendly part of the group, and to make sure our community members have the best and most fruitful time possible at the locations we visit.
Excellent communication skills, especially with people with varying levels of English;
Current resident of the UK;
Able to provide five years’ worth of addresses, and willing to undergo a DBS check;
Able to complete compulsory volunteer induction training (online) general and safeguarding via 2 self-paced induction training webinars prior to the start of role;
Requirements – Desirable:
Knowledge of community languages, such as Farsi, Arabic, Tigrinya, Amharic, Somali and Spanish.

Become an activity lead
As a volunteer activity lead you will run a local Re-engage group who meet on a monthly or fortnightly basis. You will deliver or facilitate regular physical activity sessions for people aged 75 and over in community centres, pubs or church spaces.
This is a flexible role and each group will host activity guests, along with our volunteer drivers who pick up and drop off our activity guests.
Activities can vary from boules and skittles, dancing or singing, or coming up with your own activity to get people moving. In some groups we may have another person coming in to run a specific class so we would ask you to facilitate this and support the activity guests who are attending on the day.
You will be required to complete a DBS check for this role, for which Re-engage will cover the cost.
Tasks include:
- Facilitating or delivering an inclusive activity with the focus on physical health and social wellbeing.
- Making activity guests feel welcome to the groups and ensuring people can participate in the activities. Activity groups are coordinated by a volunteer group coordinator.
- Following the guidance in your training to ensure that your group sessions are enjoyable, appropriate and in line with our charitable aims.
Your role as an activity lead will be to plan and deliver a session that is achievable for all the activity guests attending. Your session should be inclusive, fun and safely delivered to activity guests. Group activities can stay the same or change on a monthly or fortnightly basis.
This is a long-term voluntary role, so we are ideally looking for individuals who can commit to volunteering with us for at least 12 months.

Poplar Tree Court is located in the Brumby area of Scunthorpe and consists of twelve flats and eight bungalows, providing person-centred care to adults with mental health needs.
We are looking for a creative Volunteer to set up and run activity groups in our service in line with Service User interests. As part of your volunteer role you will take the lead on the group and will plan the group sessions, making sure that the activities are inclusive for all our service users and delivered in a fun and engaging way.
You will also ensure that service users are included in deciding the types of crafts and activities they would like to explore, and will plan and prepare for the sessions in advance to make sure that the materials and equipment are ready for each session. The sessions could be board games, arts and crafts, bingo, etc. You will reach out to service users to promote the activities including times and dates, and encouraging people to attend. As a volunteer group coordinator, you will set up or coordinate an activity group in your local area.

- Keeping in regular contact with your group of volunteers and sharing any updates from Re-engage that are relevant to them.
- Following the guidance in your training modules to ensure that your group activity sessions are enjoyable, appropriate and in line with our charitable aims.
This is a voluntary role that will require you to organise the monthly or fortnightly activity groups which usually take place in the same venue.
If you are setting up a new group in your area, it is your role to support setting up these groups, sourcing a venue, arranging an activity, and ensuring activity guests and volunteers are contacted prior to the monthly or fortnightly group activities.
Attendance is not essential at every group but is expected periodically throughout the year. You will need to confirm attendance with our volunteer drivers and activity leads who will arrange pick-ups.

About Sense Touchbase Pears
Sense TouchBase Pears is a welcoming, accessible environment where everyone can feel connected, included and part of the community. We combine health and social care services with arts, sports and wellbeing activities. And support disabled people to access employment, education, volunteering, and training opportunities.
As an activity volunteer, you will be helping to set up, supervise and interact in some fun activities at the centre from ‘Messy Play’ and ‘Stay and Play’ to craft sessions and supporting with events. This exciting and fast-paced role is a rewarding way to give back to your local community, by helping us to provide affordable and inclusive activities in the area. Please note that at this time we are looking for volunteers aged 18+ due to the busy nature of the role.
Key Duties
As an activity volunteer, you will be an ambassador for TouchBase Pears, and for Sense, as well as being a vital part of the Facilities Team. You will help provide a warm welcome to everyone who comes into the building and help us with our fun and engaging activities.
- Supporting the TouchBase Pears team, working work together to deliver an outstanding experience for every person’s visit.
- Setting up and clearing away activities, including ‘messy play’ and ‘stay and play’
- Supporting with the supervision of activities
- Encouraging participation by interacting with the public
- Helping keep our visitors safe when taking part in the activities
- Adhering to our Health & Safety procedures
- You will be always supported on site during volunteering and a facilities coordinator will be available if you need any support or have any questions. For the weekly role which will be for our Stay and Play, you will eventually be leading the activity without supervision within the room, but a facilities coordinator will always be on site if you need them.
A standard / enhanced Disclosure & Barring check will be required for this volunteer role, which we will support you with.

What can you expect to be doing?
This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with:
·Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins
·Online fundraising – setting up online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised
·Marketing – spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press
·Completing administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

Support, guidance and keeping you safe
At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

A crucial volunteer role at the centre, volunteer Centre Assistants help out at least one morning per week to warmly welcome members to the centre, help with queries (in person, by email and over the phone) and direct people to our various activities. This is an active and varied way to volunteer where no two days are the same!
Qualities you need for this role
• Confidence and communication skills in person and over the phone
• Reliable, dependable and a good sense of humour
• Flexibility, happy to support staff as needed
• Able to think on your feet
• Basic IT skills
When you'll be needed
• A morning per week: volunteers must commit for at least six months
• Monday-Friday between the hours 9:30am – 1:00pm

Description of role:
To support customers with higher needs and communication difficulties one-to-one in a group sessions.
Work alongside our Activities Facilitators to support the delivery of sessions.
Key tasks:
To work at the individual customer’s pace in a group, ensuring they can take part in sessions (for example cooking, baking, dance).
Help the individual customer communicate and interact with the team and their peers.
To help with confidence building by encouraging and empowering customer to engage, be creative and stay safe.
Ensure that the individual is included in various aspects of sessions, and during breaks and lunchtime.
Volunteers will not be engaged in “Regulated Activity” as defined by Schedule 4 to the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 (as amended). This includes assisting people with personal or health care, and undertaking activities with children that are not supervised by staff.
A DBS check will be required as part of this role and will be carried out during the vetting checks of successful applicants.
