Role Summary:
Working for the Head of National Business Development, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for securing income-generating corporate partnerships to drive forward engagement across the whole Speakers for Schools proposition.
This role is the engine of growth for the charity: sourcing, engaging, and developing partnerships with employers across the UK. These partnerships will provide opportunities for high-need young people across the UK to access our programmatic interventions while delivering income to support the financial sustainability and growth of the charity.
This crucial role will demand close collaboration and working across all directorates to develop and deliver compelling and successful bids and proposals to potential partners.
This role offers a starting salary of £31362, rising to £33948 after a years successful service.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
Strategic Purpose:
- Developing outreach strategies to secure corporate partnerships in support of the Charity’s aims and goals.
- Meeting income generation targets as determined by the Head of Business Development.
- Responsible for developing and agreeing programmatic design for corporate partners in collaboration with programme and delivery teams.
Engagement:

Education / Experience / Knowledge
- Experience of business development with a variety of stakeholders and owning, managing and delivering an ambitious commercial target.
- Previous experience working with HR/Recruitment/CSR/Engagement teams is advantageous
- Confident liaising with and managing relationships with stakeholders from all levels
- An understanding of the UK Education System and a familiarity with careers provision within UK schools and colleges would be an advantage

Fundraising Manager (Grants and Trusts)
Working closely with the Chief Executive, the Fundraising Manager will help secure and sustain existing and new grant income streams from trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, statutory bodies, and other local or national funders. The Fundraising Manager will work with others to research and identify prospective new funding opportunities, write and submit grant applications, and build strong relationships with donors. WAST is run by and for women seeking asylum, and currently has 170 members. Its purpose remains to provide a safe space for women coming together in solidarity to offer support, share information and help each other to survive and to get their leave to remain in the UK. Women are at the sharp end of the current ‘hostile environment’ with increasingly punitive government immigration policies and practice. WAST enables a process of empowerment through which women gain the confidence and strength to voice their experience and campaign for justice.
WAST is a place of hope and belonging with its core values of compassion, respect, inclusion and empowerment and its continuous development of its trauma informed peer support approach.
WAST is proud of its pioneering work giving a voice to women seeking asylum and inspiring other women around the country to set up similar groups. Key responsibilities
·Lead on the development and delivery of the marketing and communications strategy and activity, working with colleagues in public fundraising, commercial income generation and campaigns, to achieve agreed annual targets in line with DCC’s plans.

Projects Manager role description
The role involves identifying project and research opportunities; developing winning bids; project management and project delivery. Examples of recent projects include developing a water scarcity index for BSi and creating an evaluation framework for water saving campaigns. You will report to the Head of Policy and Strategy and be part of a small but growing sub-team winning and delivering water efficiency research projects.
