The RSPCA East London and Havering Branch aims to align its core objectives with those of the National RSPCA — specifically: to rescue, rehabilitate, rehome, and protect animals.
The RSPCA East London and Havering Branch CIO (the "Branch") is seeking to appoint new Trustees to join the Branch Trustee Committee. This is an exciting time for the Branch as we aim to grow and enhance our services across East and South East London.
What does the Branch do?
Our Branch covers postcodes within East and South East London (those beginning with E or RM). We operate boarding facilities where we care for, rehabilitate, and rehome cats rescued by RSPCA Inspectors.
We are an independent charity, working in partnership with the National RSPCA, a separate charity. Together, we deliver the RSPCA's mission — focused on frontline animal welfare and community engagement.
As an independent branch, we fundraise and manage our resources independently to deliver animal welfare services. We receive some financial support and guidance on best practices from the National RSPCA to ensure we comply with Charity Commission regulations.
Future Plans
In the coming years, our plans include:
· Developing and executing plans for sustainable income growth
· Building out our volunteer and supporter network
These plans are continuously reviewed and developed by the Branch Trustees to ensure we focus our efforts on helping as many animals as possible.
What are we looking for?

Do you live in Wales and want to gain valuable skills, have new experiences, and support vulnerable people?
We are offering a young person aged 18-25 the opportunity to volunteer for up to 6 months with the Portuguese Red Cross in Águeda, Portugal.
The Portuguese Red Cross in Águeda offers support to the local community in three main areas of voluntary activity: youth, emergency and social.
The youth department runs projects that will see the successful volunteer work with young people in the local community to boost their confidence, promote their involvement with their local community, support the peer to peer education programme and assist with planning and delivering awareness campaigns.
In the emergency department the successful volunteer will assist with the organisation and maintenance of essential emergency supplies as well as providing assistance and wellbeing support to those affected by emergencies and disasters and general event support within the community.
The social department runs a variety of projects including; the essential distribution of food to vulnerable people, the social canteen, food donation drives and working with vulnerable young people by organising activities to promote social inclusion, sports, creative workshops and educational programmes.
The successful volunteer will stay in a shared room in the Agueda Red Cross office with one other volunteer on the programme.
The volunteering hours will never exceed 36 hours/week and the volunteer schedule will be rotating. Volunteers are entitled to two consecutive days of rest per week.

We support a gentleman who would like for somebody to visit him for company and friendship. He enjoys time at home, watching TV, playing board games and baking, but mostly enjoys being outside when the weather is fine. He enjoys taking walks, cycling, bowling and meals out and would love for a friend to spend time and enjoy doing this with him. He would like to meet a volunteer to get to know and eventually enjoy getting out and about.
We offer a lifelong befriending service for adults with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of the people we visit. Visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing. In many cases, the visitor is the only person in someone’s life who isn’t paid to be there for them.
This is a Stop and stay, let’s get busy visitor role which means the person you will be visiting can communicate actively with you and take part in choosing or planning activities. As you get to know each our you may choose to ‘go out’ either with or without support from the staff that supports the person you visit. Your volunteer manager will be happy to help you with ideas and suggestions for things you can do. Visits will vary in length but tends to be around an hour or longer, depending on what you do.

What is the befriending service?
- The Befriending Service links volunteers 1:1 with a disabled child/young person.
- Links are based on shared interests and activities, which you can enjoy doing together, either in the young person’s home or out in the community.
What experience do I need?
- You do not need any previous experience with disabled children or young people
- We ask that you are friendly, caring, reliable and able to make a commitment to visit a young person regularly.
What will I be doing?
You will volunteer within WECIL’s befriending service for disabled children/young people and their families. This involves:
- Spending time regularly with a disabled child or young person in their home or their local community.
- You will not be asked to administer medication or deliver personal care in this role.
Who am I responsible for?
- You are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the child or young person you are linked with.
- All links are risk-assessed and carefully monitored by your Co-ordinator.
Who am I responsible to?
The parent/carer.
- You must ensure that the parent / carer’s reasonable instructions and guidance regarding the welfare of their child are adhered to and that clear communication is maintained.
- Feedback must be given to the parent/carer following a visit.
Your co-ordinator and Time2Share@WECIL.
- You must respond promptly to any contact from your co-ordinator.
- You are required to report monthly on any time spent with the child you are linked with, any activities undertaken, and to take part in the annual review.
How often will I be needed?
- We typically ask for volunteers to commit to 2-4 hours a week
- The days / times are agreed between the volunteer and the family.
- We ask for a minimum commitment of 6 months to ensure the child and their family are able to benefit fully from the relationship.

MS Walk Belfast is back again this year and we are looking for an incredible team of volunteers who will be helping to make MS Walk 2025 bigger and better than ever.
The 2025 event will have around 200 participants who will be walking through Belfast on either the 1km, 5km or 10km route.
Together these walkers will be hoping to raise over £20,000 for the MS Society to help support the MS Community.
There are various roles available on the day from making some noise and encouraging our walkers, looking after the course and handing out water, snacks and medals.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Each Summer BECA hosts a 3-week, half-day, day-camp for students in elementary grades, to provide students with opportunities to remain immersed in the English language over the long break through fun games and activities – making the transition back to classes in August less difficult and preventing summer learning loss. Each year, we seek out a team of 6-8 Volunteer Summer Camp Counselors to work with approximately 75-100 students across multiple grade levels, with about 15-20 students per classroom.
In addition to supporting students, Summer Camp Counselors will also: conduct 1-2 home visits per week with the Summer Camp Director, commit to a service project on the school grounds, as well as host team dinners on a weekly basis.

Because the Summer Camp is a supplemental program, BECA recoups the program’s expenses through donations paid by Summer Camp Counselors who wish to participate. In exchange for this experience, we ask that you contribute or fundraise $1,500 for the BECA program to help defray costs (food, accommodation, training, materials, and a high-speed internet connection). A reduced contribution may be available for applicants with demonstrated need.
For current college students, please note that volunteers in the past have successfully applied for on-campus grant monies to cover this expense and travel. We encourage you to explore what opportunities your college offers to subsidize summer experiences. Please contact us if you have any questions; we will try to help you in any way possible.

We are looking for friendly and organised volunteers to assist with sorting, washing and drying laundry, as well as keeping our laundry room tidy. This is an important role as the supply of clean bedding, towels and toys is essential for the welfare of our animals. You will be helping us keep them comfortable, warm and entertained.
In addition to making a difference to the animals in our care, you will get to know our friendly team and gain further insight into how the Home runs.
Our volunteer requirement is on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 09:00-16:00. A weekly commitment of 2-3 hours is preferred.
Role Profile
As a laundry room assistant, you will support our staff and animals by washing towels, blankets and animal bedding. In addition to this, you will sort through the donated bedding and towels we receive and decide what items we can keep, what can be recycled and what we need to throw away, endeavouring to waste as little as possible. You will also be ensuring that the laundry room is always kept clean and tidy and checking that machines are in proper working order.
Your activities will include:
- Cleaning and drying any laundry that is generated during the daily running of the centre
- Folding and storing clean laundry which will include bedding and towels, toys and vet beds from our recovery suite
- Sorting donated bedding and towels, deciding which can be used, recycled or disposed of
- Keeping the laundry room tidy
- Reporting any issues with the washing machines or tumble dryers to our site maintenance team
About You
This can sometimes be a messy task, so a willingness to get your hands dirty is essential as you will sometimes be cleaning soiled blankets, towels and vet beds used in our recovery suite. There is a manual handling element of the role, so this should be considered upon application.
You don’t need to have any prior experience, you will be given full onsite training on how to use our machines and where everything goes.
All volunteers are required to complete online Health & Safety training prior to their start date. Due to insurance restrictions, all volunteers must be over the age of 18.
Through advice and support in the community, to rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming at our centre, we positively transform the lives of pets.
