We are looking to recruit a Finance Volunteer for our South East Kent Group. As a Finance Volunteer, you would be joining a coordinating team of volunteers to plan and deliver services and activities to support people locally.

You will maintain and approve income and expenditure records and explain financial information clearly to other group members. You would ensure our financial requirements and policies are followed, and that money is spent in a cost effective manner.

A national foundation working to improve access to social investment and enterprise support is seeking new Trustees to join its high-calibre Board. Now in its tenth year, the organisation has a strong track record of widening access to finance for smaller charities and social enterprises, particularly those operating in more deprived communities. Its blended finance programmes represent a significant share of the UK’s social investment activity, and it also supports hundreds of organisations to grow their enterprise models and overcome barriers to investment.

The organisation is now looking to appoint new Trustees who can bring experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Proven leadership in a frontline charity or social enterprise, ideally with additional experience in infrastructure or systems-change roles.
• Senior leadership within a foundation (endowed or non-endowed), with a strong interest in social investment and/or place-based economic development.
• Experience in commercial banking, particularly in capital structuring, co-investment models, or lending to the voluntary and community sector.

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example:

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 
• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations
• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press
• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork
• championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
• photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

Swansea Community Workshops

The Board of Trustees are looking to recruit a knowledgeable and experienced individual for the voluntary role of Secretary (Board of Trustees). The main activity at Swansea Community Workshops (SCW) is to provide facilities for hobbies, recreation, and leisure time occupation in a socially interactive and practical environment, where there are skills sharing, learning of new skills, and helping community-based projects. As we are a charity, these facilities are for public benefit, specifically targeting socially excluded members of the local community in Swansea.

Role Overview

Title: Secretary (Voluntary) Reports to: Board of Trustees.

Hours: 3-6 hours per month as minimum. Attendance to monthly sub-committee meetings and bi-monthly Board of Trustee meetings is expected.

Role Summary

The Secretary is responsible for the recording and documentation of all charity and Trustee meetings.

Role and Responsibilities

Overall 

• Leading the charity to enable it to fulfil its purpose.
• To ensure an effective relationship between:
• the charity and the staff/volunteers
• the charity and the external stakeholders/community
• Acting as a spokesperson and figurehead as appropriate.
• To supervise and support the Centre Manager.

Specifically 

• Support the Chair or Vice-Chair in the planning and preparation of the charity meetings and the AGM, as appropriate.
• In charity meetings, ensure that:
• Decisions, actions, and deliberations are adequately minuted.
• Meeting minutes are distributed to all members of the Board promptly after the meeting takes place.

Person Specification

Personal Qualities 

• Friendly and approachable 
• Clear communication skills – both written and verbal.

• Happy to volunteer on evenings and weekends when required.

Education, Experience and Knowledge 

• Secondary education required as minimum.
