We are thrilled to welcome a Fundraiser Trainer & Advisor to support our Fundraising and Marketing Team at a pivotal time for our charity.

After a challenging period of inactivity due to the impacts of Covid, we are excited to embark on a new chapter, as we are ready to restart our activities in 2025 and to develop our projects and create a positive impact in our community.

This is a unique opportunity for those eager to be part of a project evolving from its early stages to the launch of new initiatives. The volunteer will have ample opportunity to grow with the charity.

We are looking for a passionate and articulate Fundraiser with extensive experience in fundraising strategy and bidding writing skills.

What this position entails

This role is designed for someone eager to share their fundraising knowledge by coaching our team to enhance their skills and gain a deeper understanding of the fundraising landscape.

We work with a dedicated team of volunteers, from our operational staff to those actively participating in our events, all of whom are enthusiastic about supporting our initiatives while gaining valuable experience and connecting with new people. Our Fundraising Trainer will provide valuable training to our fundraising and marketing team, focusing on enhancing their fundraising abilities, helping them to develop innovative strategies, and assisting with bid revisions by offering them constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.

We seek a mentor rather than someone to handle fundraising tasks for the team; we want a guide who can empower others to learn from their expertise.

Therefore, the ideal candidate must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to train individuals in the art of fundraising with creativity and kindness.

The key focus of the role is:

•  Train and guide the fundraising and marketing team, acting as a mentor.
•  Revise bids and give insightful suggestions for improvement.

Essential:

• Highly experienced in Fundraising and with excellent communication skills.
• Able to produce training in Fundraising skills and deliver it to the team.
• Able to dedicate time to weekly catch-ups with the team and review actions, offering insightful tips for improvement.
• Able to give constructive feedback on bid applications.

We might consider multiple volunteers for this position if we get applications from fundraisers with specialised skills in different areas of fundraising.

Commitment:

The estimated time needed is 2 to 4 hours a week, and we welcome those volunteers who can offer more, although it is not a requirement for the role. We can be flexible and work with you to find hours that fit ours and your schedule - all help is much appreciated!

As this is a trainer position, we unfortunately won’t accept applications from volunteers who do not possess a solid background in fundraising strategy.

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

At My Black Dog, we provide free, anonymous and judgement-free peer support for those struggling with their mental health. Our volunteers have been there, they’ve faced their own challenges and truly understand what it’s like. Through real conversations, we offer empathy, hope, and a safe space to be heard. No stigma, no pressure, just people who get it, ready to listen. We are now looking for someone with experience of fundraising to join our Trustee team. 

Do you have 1-3 hours every two months spare to become a Mencap befriender volunteer?

We support a gentleman who would like for somebody to visit him for company and friendship. He enjoys time at home, watching TV, playing board games and baking, but mostly enjoys being outside when the weather is fine. He enjoys taking walks, cycling, bowling and meals out and would love for a friend to spend time and enjoy doing this with him. He would like to meet a volunteer to get to know and eventually enjoy getting out and about.

We offer a lifelong befriending service for adults with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of the people we visit. Visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing. In many cases, the visitor is the only person in someone’s life who isn’t paid to be there for them.

This is a Stop and stay, let’s get busy visitor role which means the person you will be visiting can communicate actively with you and take part in choosing or planning activities. As you get to know each our you may choose to ‘go out’ either with or without support from the staff that supports the person you visit. Your volunteer manager will be happy to help you with ideas and suggestions for things you can do. Visits will vary in length but tends to be around an hour or longer, depending on what you do.

In this role you will spend quality time with the person you visit and could do a range of different activities like: • Sitting and having a chat • Checking in on their well- being • Going out to a local café/pub for a meal/drink • Enjoying a walk • A craft activity at home • Reading a book/magazine together

We are looking for up to ten UK university students to join our volunteer Student Ambassadors team and help Ygam achieve its social purpose by reaching out to students at university. This will be achieved by advising Ygam on the needs of students, supporting with content development, organising activities at your campus, and join us at events to raise awareness of gaming and gambling harms.

Teach First Board of Trustees 

Chaired by Dame Vivian Hunt, our Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance of Teach First, ensuring it is run in accordance with our Charity Articles and the law. Our Trustees are all non-executives, who volunteer their time to support our work. 

Trustees meet regularly as the Board of Trustees to focus on strategy, performance and assurance and to make decisions in relation to: 

• the long-term strategic direction of the Charity, ensuring delivery of its objectives and ongoing public benefit 

• the Charity’s financial and other resources, ensuring these are adequate, managed appropriately and that the Charity remains solvent 

• implementing policies, controls and activities which will support the Charity’s objectives; and 

• compliance with relevant laws and regulation. 

Trustee role description 

The Board of Trustees is looking to appoint a Trustee with: 

• Strategic understanding of the education policy landscape and the research and evidence base needed to drive education system change, with the ability to influence and activate decision-makers. 

• Influence and experience in building networks to deliver and scale impact across the sector. 

• A commitment to, and experience working towards, Teach First’s charitable mission to end educational inequality. 

This Trustee would be expected to: 

• attend and participate in regular Board of Trustees meetings (usually four per year, plus an extended meeting to focus on strategy at the beginning of each academic year)

• attend and participate in meetings of the Education Committee (usually four per year), a formal sub-committee of the Board of Trustees, which advises the Board on Teach First’s education strategy and provides assurance to the Board on the quality and impact of the Charity’s educational activities 

• provide strategic advice and support to members of the senior management team in a non-Executive capacity 

• participate in the recruitment of Executive roles, when necessary, and provide support in hearing appeals from trainees 

• declare any interests (financial or otherwise) which give rise to an actual or perceived conflict with the business of the Board. 

Board meetings are held in person, either at Teach First’s London office or in a school setting. Sub-committee meetings usually take place online. 

The time commitment for this non-remunerated role is approximately one day per month, including preparation for meetings. 

In addition to attendance at formal Board and sub-committee meetings, there are opportunities for Trustees to be involved in the day-to-day work of the Charity in support of its objectives e.g. fundraising activity, meeting with supporters, attending events, joining working groups looking at new areas of strategic activity or acting as mentors to senior employees. 

Appointments to the Board of Trustees shall be for a period of three years, renewable up to a maximum of nine years served. Most Trustees will serve two three-year terms. 

Our governance structure 

The Board has three permanent sub-committees, each providing oversight of, and advice on, a defined area of the Charity’s work. Sub-committee membership comprises Trustees, Teach First Ambassadors (alumni of its programmes), and, in some cases, external members, who are co-opted on the basis of their expertise in a particular field. 

The Board has an Education Committee, a Finance, Risk and Audit Committee (FRAC), and a Nominations Committee. Nominations Committee is responsible for the composition of the Board and its sub-committees.

Fundraising and Communications Internship

Concordis International seeks internship candidates to become actively involved in fundraising and communications for their programmes, providing meaningful assistance to the organisation’s operations. The internships are designed to give you concrete experience in communications and fundraising within the international development sector. The role is varied and will require you to work with our small UK team and with other interns who are based around the world.

Concordis International works impartially alongside those involved in or affected by armed conflict, so that through dialogue they may build relationships of mutual trust and together develop and implement policies that improve security and social cohesion, laying firm foundations for lasting peace.

Location: Home-based. You must have good internet connection and a computer.

Duration: 6 months; minimum 3 days (22 hours) per week, some flexible working is available.

Reporting to: Fundraising & Communications Manager.

Role Description

You will work closely with the Fundraising and Communications Manager as an integral part of the F&C Team, and be involved in all the projects we cover. Your internship with Concordis will give you experience in both fundraising and communications and you won't just watch it happen; you'll be doing the work as part of the team, with opportunities to make a valuable contribution. You’ll have exposure to planning, designing, writing and working to tight deadlines. And the more you put in, the more you will get out.

We are particularly seeking interns with great creative energy and graphic design skills. If that's you, please get in touch.​​ You’ll need really fluent English too; it’s an advantage if it is your mother tongue.

Communications role

You will become one of our storytellers. You will learn about our programmes, their activities, history and conflict analysis, so you can produce communications materials for social media, our website, newsletters, events and other outlets. This will mean you:

• Liaise with our programme teams to gather information, stories and materials

• Brief, resource and support the F&C Manager

• Edit and design publications such as reports, news articles and other awareness-raising materials

• Respond to requests for communications support from the wider team

• Update and design new pages for our website

• Create posts and monitor social media platforms 

Fundraising role

You will work closely with the F&C Manager to support activities as required.

• Help maintain and develop our Customer Relationships Management system

• Help with fundraising events (including organisational aspects)

• Be closely involved in the process of producing our Annual Review, from planning, through design, to print

Other tasks

Interns monitor international and regional institutions and grant-making organisations for funding opportunities.  They are also expected to take their turn in tasks such as taking notes during meetings and monitoring the security of teams on the road.

Interns serve on a voluntary basis; there is no salary or stipend, but Concordis will reimburse reasonable expenses including a small daily lunch allowance.

Interns do not follow a formal training programme, but Concordis will seek to provide experience tailored to the skills, needs and aspirations of individual interns within the range of activities outlined above.

Your Role as a Mentor

As a mentor, you will hold weekly one-on-one sessions of 1-3 hours for the duration of 12 months. You will help build confidence, resilience, and help your mentee manage feelings through a series of fun experiences and activities. Whether you’re playing games or discussing goals, you’ll be making a difference in a child’s life by developing the tools for a positive future.
