Sense is a leading disability charity with extensive knowledge and expertise in delivering personalised, creative and flexible support for disabled people with complex needs. Our tailored approach ensures that every person is empowered to live fully at every stage of life.

Due to the nature of the role, we require all applicants to be aged 16 or over. You must have a UK address to volunteer with Sense.

What your role will involve

You’ll get the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service, helping create a wonderful shopping experience.
• Receiving donated items from the public, thanking them for their support.
• Sorting, steaming and preparing donations for sale.
• Helping to display stock in eye-catching and exciting ways.

A sibling or young carer is a young person who lives with a family member with a disability, such as a parent or sibling, often providing support or care. Here at Sense, we know that it’s not always easy being a young carer, or the sibling of a disabled person. Their wellbeing and happiness are just as important. That is why we deliver activities and sessions specifically for young people aged 5-18, who have a caring role for a parent or have a sibling with a disability.

We run a wide range of virtual group sessions after school and at weekends. Our sessions are designed to meet the interests of the young people we support, supporting their wellbeing, giving them opportunities to socialise with other siblings and young carers, and providing a fun break that is just for them. 

We are looking for volunteers to share their skills and engage groups of young people through fun, interactive, and accessible Zoom workshops. Volunteers will have experience in one of the following skills, either through study, teaching, running a business, or delivering workshops. Please note you only need one of the following skill areas to apply, however if you have experience in more than one, please do let us know:

Are you ready to be a founding leader of a new movement?

MINDSET is not just another charity; it's a new kind of brotherhood. We're on a mission to empower men's mental health and wellbeing and we need a team of passionate, strategic leaders to guide us from the very beginning.

We are actively recruiting our inaugural Board of Trustees, including a Chair, Treasurer, Company Secretary, and Trustees. This is a unique opportunity to build a charity from the ground up and make a profound, lasting impact on men's lives across the country.

This isn't just a volunteer role. You will be the architects of our mission, setting our strategic direction and ensuring we have the governance and resources to grow. Your leadership will be the foundation of everything we do. You will help us to deliver vital services, including:

• Mental Health Support: Offering a range of services from one-to-one counselling and peer support groups to helplines and crisis support.

• Self-Improvement Programmes: Empowering individuals with practical skills through workshops focused on resilience, stress management, and personal growth.

• Community Engagement: Fostering a sense of belonging through local groups, activities, and outreach programmes that bring men together.

• Youth Services: Providing vital support and education to young men through school-based initiatives and dedicated youth-focused programmes.

We're looking for individuals who believe in our mission and are ready to contribute their expertise, time, and passion to this project. As a founding Trustee, you will directly shape a movement that will change countless lives.

Empowering Men Through Mental Wellbeing and Personal Growth

Join our amazing volunteer team to raise awareness of sight loss and RNIB services at local events. You’ll be making a real difference to people living with sight loss by helping to create a world without barriers. This face to face opportunity will see you providing information about RNIB services and activities to help people with sight loss live the lives they want, enabling them to hear about the support that is available, and how they can help others.

What you’ll be doing
• Creating a welcoming and interesting display stand.
• Speaking directly to people affected by sight loss.
• Being a friendly face of RNIB locally - engaging with a diverse range of people.
• Providing information and demonstrations of basic independent living aids for the general public and professionals.
