Organisation: Support U is a leading LGBTQIA+ resource and support service based in the Thames Valley area. 

Commitment: Ideally approximately 4 hours per month alongside any training and volunteer team catch ups. 

Overview: 

We’re looking for approachable and dependable volunteers to support and help run our monthly community groups in Bracknell and Reading, as well as assist at local Pride events and other community activities. What You’ll Be Doing: 

As a Support U Group Facilitator Volunteer, you’ll play a key role in helping us run safe, welcoming and inclusive spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community. Your involvement might vary slightly depending on your interests and availability, but typical responsibilities include: 

• Supporting Community Groups: Helping to set up and run local support and social groups in Bracknell / Wokingham / Reading, this includes welcoming attendees, signing people in, facilitating activities during any groups, gathering feedback and helping to create a positive and inclusive environment. 

• Contributing to Group Planning: Sharing ideas for group activities and discussions and assisting with light planning to help make sessions engaging and relevant for attendees. 

• Attending Local Pride and Community Events: Assisting the charity at local Pride events; setting up stalls, engaging with the public and helping to spread awareness of the support we offer as a local charity. 

• Team Contribution: Staying in touch with your fellow volunteers and the charity, this includes regular team catch-ups  and discussions. 

You don’t need to have experience in any of these areas to start, just a willingness to get involved and be part of a team working towards something meaningful.

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Volunteers to join our drop in group in Crawley that take place on the 1st and 3rd  Monday of the month between 10:30-12:30 . This role is ideal for individuals looking to make a meaningful impact in the community while gaining valuable experience.

The Say Aphasia charity provides support groups across the UK for people with aphasia; a language and communication disability caused by a brain injury like a stroke. Aphasia affects over 350,000 people in the UK but is little understood or known about by the public. It is the only aphasia charity set up by people with aphasia for people with aphasia; helping them to adapt to their new way of life and regain their independence and confidence.

Aphasia occurs due to injury to the brain such as a stroke. It affects access to language, resulting in difficulties following conversations, speaking, reading and writing.

Volunteers will support the running of the group with communicating, and will have the opportunity to utilise their communication skills and IT knowledge to take a register of attendance.

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship and support to individuals, particularly those living with asphasia.
• Assist in organising activities that promote social interaction and engagement.
• Communicate effectively with participants, ensuring their needs are understood and met.
• Help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
• Collaborate with other volunteers to enhance the group.

Qualifications

• An understanding or knowledge in aphasia is desirable.

We drive, shop, provide companionship and carry out light gardening for over 200 members who live in Kew (West London) to help them live as independently as possible. We are looking for Volunteer Companions. The aim of KNA's Companionship programme is to provide social, emotional and practical support, and relief from isolation for local Kew people who are mostly older people with mobility issues. The objective is to offer support on an on-going basis through friendship.

As long as we can find a willing volunteer, we can help our members.

Overview

In partnership with a second, and possibly third Leader, you will lead a Fire (Group) of 8-12 Young Explorers. The Knowledge Leader should combine science and creative activities to help Young Explorers better understand the unique wilderness they explore, and develop curiosity for the future. To achieve this, it is the responsibility of the Senior Knowledge Leader, Knowledge Leaders and the collaboration of all leaders to design and deliver a programme of inspirational, educational projects.

We are looking for applicants who are:

• Able and passionate about leading, inspiring, and facilitating sessions with young people.
• Comfortable spending extended periods in remote and sometimes harsh environments.
• Able to commit to all pre-expedition training events. 

As a charity, all Leader positions are undertaken on a voluntary basis and Leaders join for the intrinsic value of adventure, education, and personal development of young people. You do not have to fundraise to lead on our expeditions.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers in the Horsham and district area
• Planning fundraising events and activities with your team
• Allocating tasks before and during fundraising events
• Keeping financial records from fundraising events
• Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 
• Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

A bit more information about this role and the team

• This is a flexible role. The amount of time you offer can work to your availability and convenience.
• There may be opportunities for your activities to be fully remote and/or admin based if you'd prefer.
• You will need your own transport if you wish to attend events, ideally a car or van since items, stock and equipment will usually be needed.
• We ask that you complete training to support you in your role. This can be completed online if you have access to the internet and the necessary device (computer/laptop/tablet etc). Support can be offered or paper versions of much of the training if needed.

Support, guidance and keeping you safe

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

Role Description:

Nova Roots is a new out of hours community space for women 18+ leaving forensic mental health services, open 3 days a week; Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. We offer a safe, warm, non-judgemental social environment for women to build meaningful connections and have access to free activities and resources.

As a volunteer your role will be to support individuals using a peer approach by co-facilitating peer-led workshops, offering emotional and social support. By doing this, it provides an opportunity for service users to develop and manage meaningful and purposeful choices in an independent and empowered way.

We are looking for someone who

• Has lived experience of being in prison / mental health wards / rehab and recovery communities
• Are a non-judgemental and friendly individual
• To be able to provide a welcoming, authentic, and positive experience for all, being inclusive and embracing diversity
• To feel comfortable engaging with women with mental health challenges / difficult life experiences, by validating strengths and experiences and using empowering language to overcome negative self-talk
• Are empathic and understands the stigma / social bias's surrounding forensic leavers and their experiences
• Are willing to tap into their lived experiences and use their stories to inspire hope in others when appropriate
• Are comfortable with co-producing and co-facilitating peer led workshops
• To assist the Forensic Project Coordinator in the daily running of the Forensic Women’s hub
• Are able to take on any ad hoc admin/support responsibilities within the Forensic Women’s Hub

Ref: V254 | Service Group Supporter | West Kent

We’re looking for one or two service group supporters over the age of 18 years old, based at Beefeater, Hilden Manor, Hildenborough, TN10 3AN. 

You’ll be volunteering, fortnightly, on a Friday between 10:00am and 11:30am.

As a stroke group supporter you will be part of a team assisting in the running of one (or more) of these service groups and in doing so you help make a real difference to the lives of stroke survivors.

The volunteers will:

· Support people to take part in activities organised for the group.

· Assist our staff in arranging activities for the group, providing information and researching local activity options.

· Meet and greet group members and support our staff in setting-up and clearing away venues for group meetings.

· Help with other tasks to help the group run smoothly such as risk assessments and gathering feedback from people who attend.

· You might also assist stroke survivors in developing their communication skills in small groups. You would be willing to learn and use the technique, called ‘supported conversation’, that is used to support people with communication difficulties.

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role.
