As a Parent Champion Volunteer you will be engaging with families from your own community, providing peer to peer support and promoting services for children under 5 and their families. About Kith & Kids
We provide activities, opportunities, information, and support for people with a learning disability or autism, their parents, and siblings.
For all our projects and activities we are dependent on volunteers.

Our Weekend Clubs
10.00am to 1.30pm and/or 1:30pm to 6.00pm, monthly, Saturdays during term time.

We are currently looking for energetic and enthusiastic volunteers, to join us on our fantastic fun-filled Weekend club activities.

Volunteers and our members who have disabilities get to know each other as they take part in fun and challenging workshops including sports & games, arts & crafts, cooking and enjoying a day out in London once a term.

What you'll do
On the club you and a fellow volunteer will be paired with one of our members with a learning disability or autism. You'll support and encourage them to take part in a wide range of activities led by professional therapists and workshop leaders.

Our aim at a Kith & Kids’ club is that everybody has lots of fun in an environment in which our members feel safe and relaxed and can fully express themselves.  We aim that our members receive 2:1 volunteer support.  This helps ensure that the sessions have lots of energy and enthusiasm.  It also gives new volunteers a chance to learn further support tips from experienced volunteers. 

Our Weekend Clubs also allow our members to develop key skills and relationships in a fun, friendly and safe setting that is individually centred on their needs.

Workshops include music, drama, arts & crafts, sports & games and much more.  We even enjoy trips out!  Recently groups have attended swimming, museums, crazy golf, and bowling.

Not only is it a session full of fun and games for you and our members, but you are also a vital part in supporting them to develop their social skills in a day-to-day environment.

What you need
You do not need experience. Full disability awareness training will be provided before you begin volunteering with us.
The only requirements we ask of you are enthusiasm, energy and to be open-minded.

How much time?
The clubs run Sat monthly, 10.00am to 1.30pm and/or 1:30pm to 6.00pm, in term time only.

The more clubs you do, the more you'll build close relationships with the members you'll be supporting and will create the most impact.

IJAD is a dance company working at the intersection of performing arts and technology and we’re looking for volunteers to help us with our upcoming live/hybrid festival at Riverside Studios Hammersmith, OOTFest25 (UN)SEEN. 

About OOTFest: OOTFest is a festival of live/hybrid performances, workshops, expert panel discussions and installations that will take you to unchartered new worlds via digital-immersive technologies. It celebrates artists who take risks, embrace uncertainty and push the boundaries of what’s possible.

This year’s OOTFest will take place in-person at Riverside Studios, Hammersmith and online via the Open Online Theatre platform, 5-8 June 2025.

We’re looking for volunteers to help out in-person at Riverside Studios. Each shift will be varied and we’re looking for volunteers to: 

• Take photos and videos for social media, alongside the official photographer
• Create high-quality content for IJAD’s social media channels
• Post content on IJAD’s social media channels throughout the festival
• Assist the festival artists 
• Greet attendees and answer queries
• Direct attendees around the venue
• Help with setting up and packing down

What will be required from you?

Our main goal is to ensure a positive experience for all volunteers and we can be flexible with timings, however we would particularly love to hear from those who are able to commit to volunteering for multiple (3-4hr) shifts over the course of the festival.

We are looking for volunteer to work with residents at our refuge to maintain our beautiful and spacious garden. The women we support here have fled to refuge due to experiencing VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) who also have additional barriers to accessing other services such as significant mental health support needs and/or problematic alcohol and/or substance use. We believe that spending time in nature, socialising and working together on a shared project is beneficial for mental and physical health, as well as building positive connections between residents in the house. Frances House is trauma-informed service and endeavours to give the women opportunities for personal agency over their own space

About the role

You will work alongside our Wellbeing Group worker to support the delivery of these sessions. Tasks may include:

• Maintaining and improving the beauty of our outdoor garden space.
• Supporting the facilitation of gardening activities which could include planting and nurturing trees, bushes, flowers, shrubs and other greenery.
• Tasks may also include other landscaping activities such as building rockeries, shelters, etc.
• Helping to create wellbeing areas in the garden which might include herb gardens, vegetable patches or sheltered quiet spaces.
• Providing supportive encouragement, enabling residents to recognise their self-worth, gain self-confidence and improve their social skills.
• Supporting clients to learn practical skills that may lead to voluntary work or employment.
• Carrying out standard gardening maintenance including cutting the grass, managing weed control and leaf raking.
• Explore possibility of using garden materials for therapeutic craft activities.
• Providing guidance to the team on matters related to the garden.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer who has a keen interest and knowledge in horticulture. The ideal volunteer will have:

• Patience, tolerance and understanding.
• The ability to relate positively and respectfully to people, with a non-judgemental attitude.
• The ability to encourage and motivate.
• The ability to share various gardening related skills.
• The ability to make the most of limited or non-existent budgets.
• Basic awareness of mental health issues and substance use.
• Self-motivated – able to carry out tasks unsupervised.
• Flexibility regarding variety of tasks associated with the role.
• An interest or understanding of working with women affected by domestic/sexual violence/mental health/substance use.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Reliable and good time management.

Training includes CPD accredited courses, and the opportunity to apply to complete the Tackling and Preventing Domestic Abuse Award (DAPA), which is recognized by the Home Office.

Amy’s Place is a partnership between the Amy Winehouse Foundation and Clarion Housing, providing supported living accommodation for young women aged 18-30 in recovery from drugs, alcohol and other addictive behaviors.

As a great communicator with ‘green fingers’ you will create a calm, nurturing environment in which to support the residents to gain gardening skills and to explore the possibility of growing their own food. 

Activities

Inspire the residents to take an interest in the outdoor space at Amy’s Place and involve them in the development of a regular gardening and/or food growing club.

Help residents to develop their gardening skills and knowledge specific to growing food, through group workshops and individually tailored support, guidance and encouragement.

Commitment 

This is a flexible opportunity and volunteering times and frequency will vary depending on the volunteer’s availability and the needs of the residents. It might be every week or fortnight ideally for a minimum of 3 months.

Requirements 

This role will require us to carry out an enhanced check through the disclosure and barring service.

•  Volunteers receive a thorough induction and have access to any relevant in-house and external training
•  Reasonable travel and lunch expenses will be reimbursed
