About the Donated Stock Team

The Donated Stock Team is responsible for driving stock donations across the whole of retail and stimulating partnerships that will lead to stock donations. We also work on for brand awareness through social media.

The team is incredibly passionate about the work they do and are proud of their achievements, including increasing stock donations by +50% year to date and winning the Sense Team Award for Professional Excellence. This role provides our team the support to help raise income through our shops with a focus organisation administrative support.

Key duties

· Supporting Sense Shops to grow their social media presence with a focus on encouraging people to donate their stock.

· Creating support material to encourage people to recycle, reuse and declutter pre-loved clothing and items within local communities around our shops.

· Plan activities to increase growth through targeted outreach.

· Collate and manage data to measure impact.

· Connect with community groups, local schools, and other organisations.

The Coroners' Courts Support Service (CCSS) is a registered Charity whose trained volunteers give emotional and practical support to bereaved families and other witnesses attending an inquest.

We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.

We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a period of observations and shadowing, as well as attend a 3 day training course. A minimum commitment of one day (9:00am - 5:00pm) per fortnight is asked for. Training and mentoring is provided and travel expenses to the court are reimbursed.

New volunteers should possess good communication and listening skills and the ability to empathise with people they support.

It is important that volunteers are quite local so there are no travel problems if someone was needed for just half a day on occasion.

Across the UK, our 270 local groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS. They provide sense of belonging, unity and friendship. And they deliver services and support for their local MS community.

We are looking to recruit an Activities Organiser for the Asian MS Group. As our local group Activities Organiser you’ll play a crucial role in developing and planning activities and events with your local group. You’ll be responsible for creating and coordinating an annual calendar of events and making sure they’re run safely and effectively to make the most impact. You’ll take a lead role at events on the day and inspire your fellow volunteers to get involved.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication, administration and negotiation skills. 

Time commitment

We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

About you

You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers.

We want to pass on the heritage of the canals so that future generations can learn about London’s industrial and social past. 

Role Location:

London Canal Museum, 12-13 New Wharf Road, London, N1 9RT. We are a 5-10 minute walk from Kings Cross St Pancras tube and rail stations.

- One shift a fortnight, from 9.45am until 4.45pm

Role purpose:

The role of the Front of House volunteer is vital to the life of London Canal Museum – in small teams, volunteers in this role ensure the building is open and ready to welcome visitors each day, greet visitors and educate them about the museum’s exhibits and history, keep visitors safe and answer enquiries to keep the museum running smoothly across the day.

Key Tasks:

- Open and close the museum and ensure it is presentable and ready to receive visitors
- Greet visitors, welcome them into the museum and engage with them about the exhibits and history of the building
- Sell admissions, gifts and books, and ensure the till procedures are followed correctly
- Answer telephone and in-person enquiries
- Provide refreshments and assistance during group visits
- Maintain the various museum areas and ensure they are presentable
- Follow museum policies and procedures to ensure the building, volunteers, staff and visitors are safe and well at all times

All volunteers are line managed by the Volunteering and Training Manager, who provides comprehensive inductions and training to all Front of House volunteers in core areas including:

What will you be doing?

We are looking for 2 volunteer coordinators to join the coordinators team who will volunteer to support our volunteers in various roles. The volunteer coordinators will 

• Help to assess organisational and programme needs to determine number and range of volunteers needed for particular projects
• Help to recruit, and assure the adequate training of suitable, reliable volunteers
• Co-ordinate the volunteer rota to ensure that there is always someone available to support all our services 
• Help to create and distribute information regarding volunteer policies and procedures
• Monitors volunteers during their appointments to retain or replace candidates
• Meet with volunteers to assess their progress and satisfaction, as well as to conduct performance evaluations or skills audits
• Help to induct new volunteers
• Maintain regular communication among volunteers and between an organisation and its volunteers, in order to share news, progress, and available positions

What are we looking for?

The Volunteer Co-ordinators role requires proactive and detail orientated individuals with an organised approach and an interest in supporting small charities. They will have good communication skills. The Volunteer Co-ordinators are responsible for the volunteer aspects of Burning Nights CRPS Support to ensure the smooth running of the charity’s services and ensuring that the volunteers are used optimally.

Our Volunteer Co-ordinators are also responsible for ensuring that suitable volunteers have DBS checks where needed and they are adequately trained to do their role working with our Charity Administrator.

Unfold does governance differently.  An award winning charity, we are led by the people we serve, with inclusive, participatory governance structures which have twice been short-listed for excellence in the Charity Governance Awards.

Unfold (previously known as Westminster Befriend a Family) is an established local charity that gets people where they want to be. Powered by volunteers, we support children, young people and families with one to one mentoring and peer support groups across Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea.  We're open to everyone, but we target those who face the most challenges: 93% of our service users are people of colour, 75% are single parent families headed by a woman and in 50% of the families we support there is a child with disabilities or special education needs.

We have a dynamic, committed, open and friendly board, and we're seeking two new trustees to join us, bringing skills and experiences from the not-for-profit or public sectors.

· The trustee with fundraising expertise will help DEx develop and execute an effective fundraising strategy.  

· The skills, experience and expertise of the fundraising trustee will help us increase our income, enabling us to shore up and enhance the work we do to support the children, young people and families we work with.

Main responsibilities

• Bring leadership and drive ensuring the development of the overall governance of Dex’s fundraising activities
• Define, design, and implement a Fundraising strategy
• Working with the other trustees and our volunteers, the Trustee – Fundraising lead will take a lead role in setting an effective fundraising strategy for DEx. You’ll work particularly closely with the lead trustee for Digital Fundraising.

· Provide thought leadership on DEx’s fundraising and help build and implement this vision.

· Provide strategic oversight of fundraising.

· Draw on your networks to support our work.

· Help ensure that the operations team have the capabilities that they need to implement the strategy.

• Define, design, and implement a Digital Fundraising strategy that raises donations/funds from appropriate digital channels.

· Ensure guidelines are developed and updated to ensure that:

• • our services users, team, and stakeholders are treated with respect and feel safe, as DEx endeavours to in its way of working; and
  • DEx’s reputation is upheld to a high standard.
• Working with the other trustees and our volunteers, the Trustee – Digital Fundraising lead will take a lead role in setting an effective fundraising strategy for DEx. You’ll work particularly closely with the lead trustee for fundraising, and our small social media volunteer team.

· Provide thought leadership on the role of digital in DEx’s fundraising and help build and implement this vision.

· Highlight the opportunities and the risks of digital, in terms of our strategy in general, and in reference to fundraising in particular.

· Translate the risks and opportunities of digital for other trustees, to enable the board as a whole to engage in an informed way.

· Provide strategic oversight of implementation of digital fundraising.

· Champion the use of data in board discussions, and in driving the delivery and improvement of fundraising.

· Draw on your networks to support our work.

· Help ensure that the operations team have the digital capabilities that they need to implement the strategy.

The Chair leads the board, ensuring that it governs Breaking Barriers effectively, in service of our vision and mission. The Chair leads in an inclusive way, supporting the board to work together well, and providing support and challenge to the Chief Executive. The Chair is also an ambassador for the charity. 

The Chair of Breaking Barriers provides visionary leadership and strategic direction, ensuring that the organisation effectively achieves its mission while adhering to its core values. This pivotal role involves governance oversight, board leadership, executive support, and serving as an ambassador for the organisation.
