Lead Volunteer Role Description
- To update the Volunteers’ Rota from the Court diary and ensure that each Volunteer in the team and the CCSS office has a copy. Wherever possible, the Rota should be kept on a computer for updating and emailed to the rest of the team and the office.
- Ensure sufficient numbers of Volunteers are on duty for effective and appropriate support for bereaved families and witnesses who attend the Inquests.
- To arrange and re-arrange the Rota between the Volunteers, noting any holiday or leave of absence dates.
- Ensure a finalised Rota is sent to the office at the end of each month in order for volunteer expenses to be checked and processed.
- To ensure that all the Volunteers have each other’s contact details and the Volunteer emergency contact details are included in the court file and updated when changes occur.
- To ensure monthly and yearly statistics are kept up to date and to send the Monthly Statistics to the Volunteer who collates the stats at the end of each month.
- To ensure there are sufficient Report Forms for the Volunteers’ use if collecting stats in paper format. If alternative methods of collecting stats are used, to ensure that the team are all using the same method.
- To inform the Operations & Training Manager and the CCSS office of the need for more Volunteers or of any leavers.
- To assist with the recruitment interviews and induction of new Volunteers.
- Responsible for the support of new Volunteers and their final sign off. Where the Lead Volunteer has concerns about the level of support required or the competency of a new Volunteer, they should refer those concerns to the Operations & Training Manager.
- To organise Volunteer team meetings (minimum of 3 meetings per year) and to inform the Operations & Training Manager and the CCSS office via email of the dates of these so they can attend if necessary/appropriate.
- To immediately refer any serious concerns raised by the Coroner or Coroner’s Officers to the CEO.
- To inform the CEO immediately of any issues or concerns that arises at the Court that might impact on the CCSS.
- To provide local information for the Helpline Court Information Sheet when requested.
- To ensure the team follow the practices of the court and work in partnership with the court staff.
- To forward any testimonials about the support provided by our volunteers to the CCSS office.
- Responsibility for maintaining the stock of CCSS leaflets.
- Organise cover for themselves when they are on holiday or need to take time off.

The Bridge Project is a well-established Bradford based charity with over 35 years’ experience delivering services and projects addressing a range of issues such as substance misuse, risk taking behaviours, relationships, housing, physical/mental health, and employment. Trustees are also encouraged to visit our premises to meet with the staff team and meet the people we support.

The Service Delivery Department is responsible for ensuring the beneficiaries of the charity receive high quality services. We offer services to children and support to families, including:

Volunteer Position
Job Title: Convener of the Stationing Advisory Committee
Do you want to make a difference and contribute to The Methodist Church? Are you a keen and experienced individual who is interested in supporting the work we do within the stationing process?
The primary function of the Stationing Advisory Committee is to receive and consider applications from ministers who wish to serve in roles other than Circuit, District and Connexional Team appointments, and to make recommendations to the Stationing Committee.
About the role of the Convener of the SAC
There are nine main elements to the role:
1. As each minister e-mails for an appointment, e-mail them back with a suggested time for an appointment. Keep a note of the time offered, to ensure not to offer that time to anyone else, unless it is not accepted. If a Panel is full, offer a date for a later panel. Attach the appropriate background information form and ask them to fill it in and return it, sending a copy to their District Chair, Circuit Superintendent, and the Warden of the MDO, as appropriate.
2. About ten days before each panel meeting write to the District Chairs and the Circuit Superintendents of those coming to request any information from them helpful to the panel. Write also, where relevant, to the Warden of the MDO. Send out the timetable for the day to panel members, including the Zoom link. Email each minister coming to the panel reminding them of the time and date, also including the Zoom link, and telling them the names of panel members as they have the right to object to any members being present.
3. A few days before the panel, send the forms and comments received to the Panel members.
4. Be a member of the Panel.
5. Following the Panel, receive the notes taken by the designated note-taker for proof reading and possible editing, add the relevant top (name, Circuit, year of travel, panel members, date of panel) and bottom (permission recommended). Send the reports to the Panel members for their comments. Once they have been agreed, send them to the minister, and copy them to the District Chair and, where relevant, the Superintendent and the Warden of the MDO. Send all of the reports to the Panel Chair and to the designated administrator at Methodist Church House, for them to store centrally. Keep an electronic copy of the report in a file. The administrator will update the Table of Permissions.
6. In June, send the Table of Permissions to the District Chairs and the Warden of the MDO, asking them to check for any inaccuracies, and ask the administrator to update the table as necessary. Also send a request asking District Chairs to encourage suitable people to consider being Panel members, including a role description and an application form. Take up references as necessary, and arrange an interview with the applicant and the Chair of the Stationing Advisory Committee.
7. In July, agree dates for the following Connexional Year with the Chair of the Stationing Advisory Committee. Write to all panel members asking if they are still willing to serve and for their available dates for the next year. Draw up a rota and send it to the Panel members.
8. Be a member of the Stationing Advisory Committee.
9. Prepare a brief summary of each report for the Stationing Advisory Committee meetings and present it to the Committee. Liaise with the designated administrator over the distribution of papers to the Committee members.
About You
We are looking for an experienced, committed person who has transferable skills. This individual will:
- Be a member in good standing of the Methodist Church in Britain
- Have previous administrative experience.
- Have an awareness of the variety of contexts that exist within the Methodist Church in Great Britain.
- Have a good knowledge of the stationing process of the Methodist church.
- Have a good knowledge of the constitutional and organisational arrangements of the Methodist Church.
- Have the ability to think strategically and connect vision, aims and strategies through theological reflection.
- Be a person who works well with others as well as individually, and is able to exercises sound judgement in decision making.
- Have the ability to engage diplomatically on sensitive issues

Blue Smile’s mission and purpose
Blue Smile's mission is to transform the mental health and life chances of Cambridgeshire children through arts-based therapies. We help over 200 children a week to be happier and have brighter futures. We work with schools in Cambridge and the region providing children with one-to-one therapy. We also directly support both schools and parents to help their children through our extensive Menu of Services. We work in particular, in accordance with our charitable aims, with those who face disadvantage or deprivation.
The charity has over 70 clinical experts working with us. Our office team supply essential management and administrative support to this clinical work.

THE ROLE OF THE SAFEGUARDING TRUSTEE
Though safeguarding is the responsibility of all trustees the Safeguarding Trustee will take the lead on safeguarding supporting the Chair of Trustees and Charity Director.
The Safeguarding Trustee will:
- Have oversight of the safeguarding policies and procedures. Ensuring there is an annual review which is reported to the other trustees.
- Consider the charity's strategic plans in the light of safeguarding legislation and other relevant obligations and the safeguarding expectations of the Charities Commission.
- Check the charities risk register reflects safeguarding risks properly and work with the Board and Charity Director to plan sensible measures to take.
- Ensure there is space on the agenda for safeguarding reports and help trustees understand and challenge those reports.
- Attend relevant safeguarding training events.
- Support the trustees in developing their individual and collective understanding of safeguarding.
Experience and Skills we are looking for in a Safeguarding Trustee:
- Experience working in safeguarding for children and young people.
- Awareness of relevant guidance, particularly, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 and Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality on sensitive and confidential information.
- Commitment to the values (and ethics) of the charity.

Location: Trustee meetings currently take place mainly online but attendance at Blue Smile offices in Central Cambridge, or other locations where we work, may be required from time to time
Commitment: Six meetings a year of the Trustee Board (usually on a weekday evening) Trustees are also represented on subcommittees and advisory groups which report to the Board. We would encourage the Safeguarding Trustee to be part of the Clinical and Ethics Committee which meets once a term.
Trustees may also offer support with projects and events as required and as their time allows.

Volunteer for Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust and make a lasting contribution to nature’s recovery!
Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust is one of 46 local, independent Wildlife Trusts and is the charity that works to make the environment of Birmingham and the Black Country (Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton) a better place for wildlife and people through environmental education, community involvement, ecological and practical work.
We are a small resources team and would like some help with:
·administration tasks to help keep our volunteer records up to date;
·answering some emails and perhaps making some calls to potential new volunteers; and
·digitalising some of our paper documents which are currently stored in the office.
We would like someone who could come into our office (B18 7EP) on a Tuesday or Wednesday. We would like this to be a longer term role as we will need to set you up on our volunteering systems and provide training to use them.
Main tasks include:
Checking and responding to enquiry emails.
Perhaps making a few outgoing calls to potential volunteers.
Updating records on our volunteer system.
Scanning and filing documents.
Data inputting.
General office tidying.
Dealing with forms and sharing information with relevant staff.
What skills or experience are needed to do the role?
Some administrative experience would be useful, but is not essential.
We would like someone who is confident in using new computer systems and can work independently.
We can provide training and ongoing support in using our software and computer systems. We would also provide training on data protection and GDPR. Ongoing support would be available from our Resources team.
What could volunteers gain from the experience?
Office based administrative experience.
Forming new social relationships.
There is also the opportunity to engage with our Conservation team and learn more about the conservation work we do within Birmingham and the Black Country.

Purpose
An Oxfordshire Youth Hospital Navigator Volunteer will provide support to Oxfordshire Youth staff and young people within our Hospital Navigator scheme. The post holder will passionately believe in the potential of all young people to achieve their goals.
An Oxfordshire Youth, Hospital Navigators Volunteer will be an advocate for young people.
Oxfordshire Youth Hospital Navigators Volunteers do not have fixed hours, but commit to flexible hours to suit their availability and staff needs. Shifts are available 7 days per week.
Join our dynamic team YPSA Team to coordinate the ground-breaking Intervention programme - Hospital Navigator. With an increase in the number of young people presenting at emergency departments due to serious violence, mental health issues, and substance abuse, we are addressing an urgent need for signposting young people to support services following discharge from A&E.
The Hospital Navigators will establish trust with young people who arrive at the JR hospital due to pre-existing concerns such as substance addiction, mental health issues, personal care, and violence itself. When in the hospital, there is an opportunity for the young person to reflect and be open to intervention. A volunteer in a dedicated Navigator role would request permission to refer the young person to a third-party agency that can provide the necessary specialist support. This moment may assist in redirecting the young person back into the community via a different pathway. The volunteer would connect them with a local support agency/charity that would assist them in reintegrating into the community, building resilience, and providing mentoring to prevent repeat occurrences that could lead to their hospitalisation.
The Navigator Coordinator will supervise Hospital Navigator volunteers. Once the navigator has gained the young person's trust and agreement, they will prepare an assessment and referral form that includes the type of difficulties, services available for referral, and the type of communication the client prefers.
Main volunteering duties
● Work within a busy A&E and the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) within JR hospital setting
● Liaise with the triage nurse team once people are medically cleared, to screen and offer signposting to appropriate services outside of the hospital
● Liaise with the A&E rapid response team to identify patients readmitted multiple times, and offer information to try to help reduce further re-admission
● Require administrative skills and be able to use IT, including finding out information from the internet on where and how to access services.
● Work within a team of people including doctors, nurses, and physiotherapists.
● Some important skills include good communication with people, and the ability to listen and build trust in a relatively short time frame.
This role profile is subject to amendment following discussion with the post holder and daily tasks will be determined by the needs of the young people and staff.
What you will gain
You will gain valuable experience and receive high-quality training to ensure you feel confident and motivated to support different aspects of Youth work. You will learn about teamwork, building and maintaining groups and recognising group dynamics.
Available training includes Safeguarding Levels 1 and 2 and GDPR. In addition, it will be possible to have further discussions about available opportunities for a Diploma in Youth Work Practice. Please note that some of this training is mandatory and you will only be able to volunteer if you complete this training.
All volunteers must undergo a DBS check.
Equipment will be provided.

They are seeking a Treasurer to take on a hands-on role in the monitoring and administration of the organisation's finances.
The role will include monitoring their online bank accounts, maintaining their income and expenditure spreadsheet, submitting an income and expenditure report to Trustees ahead of meetings, and assisting the Trustees with the preparation of an annual budget and the financial report to the Charity Commission.
The ideal candidate will be a competent Excel user with experience of preparing accounts. The time commitment required for the role is approximately 1 hour per week, with the Trustees meeting 3 times a year.
