Barnet’s Safer Neighbourhood Board entails a team of volunteers and local agencies who will work together to advise the Borough Commander.

 The Board consists of a wide range of individuals representing Barnet’s diverse communities alongside the statutory positions defined in the MOPAC Guidance, involving people of all ages and from all sections of the community. This includes those who may not have been actively involved before, who may be vulnerable or who have been a victim of crime.

Barnet’s Safer Neighbourhood Board will be required to:

 · Help identify and advise on Barnet’s local policing

· Monitor police statistical data, performance and confidence

· Fulfil a range of specific functions.

However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for 3 volunteer coordinators to join the coordinators team who will volunteer to support our volunteers in various roles. The volunteer coordinators will 

• Help to assess organisational and programme needs to determine number and range of volunteers needed for particular projects
• Help to recruit, and assure the adequate training of suitable, reliable volunteers

What are we looking for?

The Volunteer Co-ordinators role requires proactive and detail orientated individuals with an organised approach and an interest in supporting small charities. They will have good communication skills. The Volunteer Co-ordinators are responsible for the volunteer aspects of Burning Nights CRPS Support to ensure the smooth running of the charity’s services and ensuring that the volunteers are used optimally.

Our Volunteer Co-ordinators are also responsible for ensuring that suitable volunteers have DBS checks where needed and they are adequately trained to do their role working with our Charity Administrator.

About the Role:

We are currently recruiting a team of volunteers to join our new Welcome team at Tooting Hub. This is a new role. Welcome volunteers will provide a friendly face to existing community members attending our regular projects. They will also be the important ‘face of CARAS and our welcome at the door’ to people attending projects for the first time, to visitors and to people dropping in unannounced to enquire about CARAS’s service. Volunteers will meet and greet, and ensure all visitors are responded to appropriately and introduced to the relevant member of staff, activity, project, or meeting. There will be an administrative element to the role (updating registers and emailing enquiries to CARAS staff, for example).

About us

The Maudsley Hospital in Camberwell first opened in 1915, initially as a military hospital and then in 1923 as a psychiatric hospital. The hospital is home to both inpatient and outpatient services for children and adults. We provide more than 240 services to people in our local communities as well as being the UK's leading provider of national and specialist services.

About the role

We run a Clothes Bank for service users who are on the wards and may not have access to multiple items of clothing. The Clothes Bank currently relies on donations from staff at the Trust, and volunteers who sort the donated stock and bring it to service users on the wards. For this project, we need 2-4 volunteers who can commit each week on Wednesdays to help with this.

The role involves going up to the wards, speaking to ward staff to ask what items of clothing their service users need this week, and returning to the Community Link Centre where the donated clothes are kept and sorting the stock. This involves good organisational skills and teamworking ability, as you'll be working with other volunteers to make this happen. It's a really fun way to do a lot of good in a few hours, meet likeminded people and develop some new skills.

About you

This is an ideal role for anybody interested in building skills in administration, communication, organisation, and teamwork, and for anyone interested in fashion, sustainability, and mental health. There is a lot of scope for the volunteer to shape the future of the clothes bank and bring new ideas to improve its efficiency and drive donations, as well as potentially offer a more bespoke dressing service. Ultimately, if you believe in the power clothes can have in helping one feel their best, this role could be for you.

Key details

• Complete individual assessments and complete one to one personalised support for veterans within the prison environment, which includes casework.
• Promote the services available to family members.
• Establish an agreement around the rate of visits with the VCJS team and the prison.
• Record the support offered to veterans accordingly and appropriately.
• Complete monitoring reports.

The skills you need

• Be over 21.
• Have a good level of fitness to able to move around a prison quickly - including stairs.
• Excellent listening skills.
• Awareness of boundaries and confidentiality.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people, including prison staff, other agencies, SSAFA colleagues and clients.
• Positive, committed and non-judgemental. Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude.
• Good IT skills.
• An enhanced DBS check is required for this role. Individual prisons will determine if they authorise individuals to be based in their facilities based on security considerations. Security Vetting by His Majesty’s Prison Service is often required. For further discussion, please get in touch.
• You will need to declare potential conflicts of interest, for example any family connection with the prison.

Volunteer Co-chair at Watford and Three Rivers Refugee Partnership (WTRRP)

Job summary: 

We're looking for a Co-chair to lead and shape the strategic vision of WTRRP as we move forward into our 25th year as a charity. We are looking for someone to support us with our strategy in line with our mission and our values. In this role, you will act as one of two Trustee committee co-chairs of the charity, responsible for the agenda and actions of Trustee meetings and AGM, improving good governance and acting as a senior ambassador of the organisation. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, availability and leadership skills to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers.

WTRRP exists to support asylum seekers and refugees in Watford and Three Rivers who do not yet have settled status in the UK or may have specific needs relating to their application process or welfare. The main services of the charity are a drop-in session and social hub every Tuesday (at St Mary’s Church in central Watford), ESOL classes, providing financial support and advice to its clients and assisting them to integrate into the local community.

The Partnership has grown dramatically over the past 5 years, which is why we are looking for a co-chair to join us. WTRRP is run by a committee that meets typically every 2 months and it also provides supervision to our 3 staff members and support to our 70 volunteers.

We would welcome applicants with any of the following experience:

• Governance and previous Committee experience
• Business development and charitable fundraising
• Human resources and people management
• Lived experience of being a Refugee or Migrant
• Financial background

Principal responsibilities:

1. Be part of the Committee, supporting the organisation as it grows and develops.
2. Have availability to regularly attend the Tuesday hub at St. Marys church from 11- 2pm to support the team and be present.
3. Oversee the administration and coordination of sub-committees.
4. Serve as line-manager to the Caseworker and conduct planned supervision and appraisals.
5. Represent the Partnership as required to the public or external parties such as funders and Community groups.
