Students4Students is a member led charity, that has been operating for seven years, with c.100 current members across our four branches. As a member led organisation, we invest heavily in involving our volunteers in our decision-making processes and building a sense of community.
However, our volunteer base is predominantly students and is therefore by nature continually changing. This makes it more difficult for us to foster long term relationships with our volunteers. We have therefore recently established an alumni network to extend the reach of our community. We are looking for someone to help us grow our alumni network and build deeper connections with those in the network.
Responsibilities and duties
The post-holder will be responsible for:
• Owning and managing the processes for how S4S interacts with existing members of our alumni network and increasing membership.
• Working with our community and events lead to create engaging events for alumni and current members.
• Design and execute a multi-year alumni network strategy.
Time commitment
• Throughout the year – We expect the post holder to commit to an average of 1-2 hours per week

EnhanceAble is a medium-sized charity in the social care sector. We have a turn over of circa. £2 million per annum. We have a Board of Trustees, and a Senior Management Team (SMT) consisting of our Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive, Head of Finance and HR Manager.
As well as fulfilling the duties of a Trustee, the Treasurer maintains an overview of EnhanceAble’s financial affairs. The Treasurer ensures that effective and appropriate financial measures, controls and procedures are put in place and, along with the Head of Finance, reports to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation.

Working with the Head of Finance on the presentation of budgets, internal management accounts and annual financial statements to the Board of Trustees.

Ensuring, at a board level, that proper accounting records are kept, and that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.

Overseeing financial controls and adherence to systems, regularly liaising with the Chief Executive and Head of Finance.

Being knowledgeable of the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan, including overseeing the charity’s financial risk-management process

Ensuring investments and assets are maximised.

Working with the Head of Finance to oversee the development and implementation of systems for appraising, mitigating and reporting corporate risk.

Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by relevant statutory bodies, for example, the Charity Commission and/or the Registrar of Companies.

We are looking for non-judgemental, reliable, and patient individuals, who have an understanding (or the ability to learn) about domestic abuse and are confident using the telephone to join our volunteer befriending service. Befrienders will offer emotional support and promote self-care and healthy lifestyle choices to improve wellbeing and help alleviate isolation. The befriender will receive full training and ongoing support and supervision from our coordinator.
responsibilities
- Provide a weekly or fortnightly telephone call/video call or when appropriate face -to face session.
- Providing emotional support, including non-judgemental active listening
- Helping individuals to think about self-care, healthy lifestyle and development of routine
- Supporting individuals to pursue interests/hobbies and opportunities
- Supporting and gently encouraging people to make changes to improve their lives
- Helping individuals to achieve their goals and become empowered.
- To be aware of child and adult protection issues and report these to the Designated safeguarding leads.
Experience
- Respect for the confidentiality and self-respect of service users
- Non-judgemental, reliable and patient
- To be friendly, approachable, good communication skills and a good listener
- Knowledge and understanding of (or ability to learn) domestic abuse and the effects on ALL persons
- Confident using the phone
- Ability to calmly respond to the needs of the individual you are befriending
- Organisational and basic admin skills

Midland Mencap seeks a passionate volunteer photographer/videographer to capture the energy and joy of our sports, health, and wellbeing community sessions in Birmingham or Walsall.

What would I be doing?
Attend sports, health, and wellbeing sessions: Be present at designated sessions to capture content.
Capture photos and videos: Document activities, participant interactions, and highlight positive moments.
Tell visual stories: Use photo and video to convey the spirit of the sessions and the impact they have on participants.
Potential for interviews: Conduct short interviews with participants to gather testimonials.
Collaborate with the marketing team: Share content for use in promotional materials, social media, and the website.
What do I need?
For this role you will need
· Access to own digital camera equipment or modern smartphone
· Able to travel independently in the Birmingham / West Midlands area
· Friendly, calm, and patient
· Accepting of people who may be different to you
· Happy to chat and a good listener
· Willing to learn and act within guidelines set out by Midland Mencap
· An enhanced DBS check and references will be required
When and where do you need me?
· 2 - 4 times a month at sessions across Birmingham or Walsall
