About the role
As a Community Fundraising Volunteer, your role is diverse and impactful. Becoming a Community Fundraising Volunteer is a wonderful way to have fun and meet new people whilst supporting the charity in raising vital funds and awareness of the charity within your local community.
What you will be doing
• Attend and set up local community events around East Sussex. Unloading and Re-loading of stalls with marketing literature, including event flyers
• Represent East Sussex Hearing at local community fetes, fairs and events
• Help with bucket collections
• Act as a Charity Ambassador by promoting our Charity’s services and events among your friends, family, and colleagues
• Help to source and collect prizes from individuals, local community organisations, contacts and manage the use of materials at stalls
• Provide general hearing loss information and advice, including signposting to other services

What is a Serving Community Team Volunteering Coordinator?
There is a SSAFA presence throughout the serving community, both in the UK and overseas. In many areas, SSAFA have Serving Community Teams which offer financial, practical, and emotional support to serving personnel and their families. Each team is formed of a group of trained volunteers who make this possible.
A Volunteering Coordinator is a key role within the Team, supporting with local recruitment, induction, and celebration of volunteers and volunteering. They ensure volunteers are welcomed and supported. This role also has voting rights for the grant giving process.
What difference will you make?
Volunteers are the lifeblood of SSAFA. We have been involving volunteers in supporting the Armed Forces community for more than 130 years. Our beneficiaries come from all backgrounds and age groups and the number of people contacting us for help rises each year. To continue providing help when it’s needed most, SSAFA must maintain a diverse and committed network of volunteers who are skilled, supported and valued.
What will you be doing?
Although every SSAFA Serving Community Team has different needs, below are the main activities of a Volunteering Coordinator:
- Keeping track and keeping in touch: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date lists of volunteer details, ensuring volunteers complete training, checking in with volunteers about their experience and passing on feedback.
- Monitoring and planning: Working alongside the Chair to monitor volunteer numbers and develop plans to recruit new volunteers as required.
- Creating local links: Taking opportunities to advertise and promote volunteering opportunities locally, including linking with local volunteer centres and community groups. Liaising with the Engagement and Events Coordinator and SSAFA’s Marketing and Communications team for support with branding and publicity materials.
- Welcoming and supporting: Working in partnership with SSAFA Central Office teams to coordinate local volunteer recruitment and induction, supporting new volunteers through these steps. Ensuring every volunteer has access to supervision and support, signposting to support from SSAFA Central Office teams as required.
- Celebrating and saying thank you: Seeking opportunities to celebrate volunteering, engaging in local initiatives and finding ways to say thank you to volunteers for all their efforts.
- Partnership working: building positive relationships and working together with national and regional employees, who are available to offer you support.
- Being a volunteering champion: working with the Regional Operations Support Manager to promote volunteering best practice across the Team and ensure volunteers have the best possible experience with SSAFA.

- Instructor led training alongside like-minded volunteers will guide you through everything you need to know about volunteering good practice and volunteer management.

As a Fundraising Volunteer – Campaigns & Events at The Mulberry Centre, you will play a vital role in supporting our fundraising campaigns, events and initiatives aimed at providing essential services to individuals affected by cancer. You will work closely with our Supporter Engagement Lead and our Fundraising & Engagement Team to assist with our in-house fundraising efforts and provide support to individuals undertaking challenges and events on behalf of The Mulberry Centre, seeing defined projects through from start to finish.
Time Commitment – A regular commitment of 2 days a week (Majority of which would be office based) for a minimum of 6 months or longer term.
Main Duties
To work within an agreed brief with the support of the Supporter Engagement Lead on the following:
· Fundraising Campaign Support: Assisting with the planning, execution and evaluation of fundraising campaigns, including online and offline initiatives.
· Event Support: Helping to organise and facilitate fundraising events, ensuring smooth execution and maximum engagement from participants and supporters.
· Individual Support: Helping the Supporter Engagement Lead provide guidance and encouragement to individuals undertaking challenges and events in support of The Mulberry Centre, offering assistance in fundraising strategies and goal setting using the fundraising pack.
· Marketing and Advertising: Utilising transferable skills in marketing and advertising to promote fundraising campaigns and events, both online and offline, to maximize reach and participation.
· Community Engagement: Researching and engaging with the local community, small businesses, and organisations to foster partnerships and support for fundraising efforts.
· Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of fundraising activities, donations, and participant information, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
· Correspondence: Drafting accurate, well-structured emails, letters and reports with agreed key messages and information.
· Any other duties appropriate for the role and adhering to The Mulberry Centre’s policies.
Volunteer Skills Specification:
· Ability to gain and share knowledge of what The Mulberry Centre offers to people affected by cancer and inspire others to support us.

Purpose of the Role
This volunteer role is a key part of the HFEH Mind team delivering a range of services across Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow. We support clients with mental health with both clinical and non-clinical interventions.
The volunteer will coordinate a network of volunteers who, alongside the local team, delivering a range of services.
The volunteer will onboard, induct, and provide ongoing support for the volunteers and provide oversight of the relationship volunteers have with the service users we work with.
Main Responsibilities
To work closely with the HFEH Mind team and service managers and support the services with volunteer recruitment, supervision and retention.
Tasks
- Work with the service managers and central support team to support the journey and retention of volunteers.
- Provide volunteers with 1:1s or group support on a monthly basis.
- Support Director of Adult Services to administer reflective practice sessions.
- Work with the service managers and central support to log and administer volunteer availability, and resolve any volunteering related issues or complaints.
- Encourage people to volunteer through a variety of local marketing and promotion approaches, including social media and engage with our Head of Well at Work to develop a marketing and communications strategy for volunteers.
- Develop, coordinate and engage a network of around 30 active volunteers for the service.
- Induct new volunteers.
- Work effectively to ensure local volunteers feel valued and are contributing to the objectives of HFEH Mind.
- Support the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of our services.
- Gather volunteer feedback and take appropriate steps for service improvement.
