Immigration Caseworker/Solicitor
Salary: SCP scale 35, £44,711 pro rata

The post-holder will provide advice and casework in the category of immigration, nationality and asylum law. This project will focus on casework for domestic violence victims referred by Local Authorities and other partners across London. They will also work closely with partner agencies providing consultancy and taking referrals of individuals and families needing immigration advice. The post holder must also undertake training and provide second tier support for community agencies.
IKWRO - Women’s Rights Organisation is a registered charity (number 1151507) which supports Middle Eastern women and girls living in the UK who are facing “honour” based violence, forced marriage, domestic violence or female genital mutilation.
As well as providing support to individual women and girls, we run training for professionals and campaigns for better laws and policies to protect women’s rights. We are recruiting an Immigration caseworker/solicitor, who is able to model skills in safely engaging women based on mutual collaboration, trust and empowerment.

Responsibilities & Key Tasks
- Support a caseload of companions to reach their potential through both practical and emotional support.
- Tailor support plans to meet individual need - setting goals, assigning actions, working with other providers and considering the person’s holistic needs.
- Guide induction and exit processes for companions - to ensure that they understand the core principles of the offer at Emmaus and move on to long term, sustainable accommodation after us.
- Support with incident response - including anti-social behaviour, mental health concerns, challenging behaviour - using de-escalation techniques to manage behavior as it arises.
- Liaise with external providers such as the Community Mental Health Team, General Practitioners, DWP, probation, prisons and CAB to ensure specialist advice and guidance is sought where needed.
- Contribute to the planning and introduction of varied and meaningful activities for companions at Emmaus Hertfordshire.
- Ensure Safeguarding concerns are raised at the earliest opportunity through appropriate channels..
- Attend appointments online or in person with companions.
- Maintain accurate records in line with internal policy and with consideration for GDPR principles.
- Perform tasks to support the effective running of the community. Develop and maintain relationships with external providers.
- Participate in an emergency on-call rota to ensure 24/7 support is available for companions where needed.
- Provide written updates for key stake holders as well as for internal meetings.
- Attend team meetings, supervisions, reflective practice and training as required
About you:
We are seeking someone who is comfortable and experienced working in a small company or charity, understanding that our capacity and resources are limited. A 'can do' attitude and a motivated approach are essential. While direct experience with homelessness may not be necessary, you should have a solid understanding of the common challenges faced by those who have been homeless. Attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to identify and promptly address risks or safeguarding concerns. Empathy, attentive listening, and strong verbal communication skills are also key requirements. Proficiency with IT and the ability to maintain up-to-date records in our database are necessary. Additionally, you should have the tools to maintain your well-being in what can be a challenging but rewarding role. You will need to demonstrate and build the resilience required to work with individuals who may struggle to engage with services like ours and think creatively to encourage engagement. While practical experience supporting vulnerable adults is highly desirable, we are also interested in hearing from you if you have transferable skills and a willingness to learn, even if you haven't worked in the homelessness sector before.

What you'll do:
· Undertake key-working responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the Team Leader / Manager
· Undertake initial and continuous assessment of needs and potential risks and agree levels of support and actions
· Create support/action plans for providing appropriate services based on the assessment and reflecting the services and resources available
· Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation
· Support customers to move on from the service through their identified move on pathway liaising with Tower Hamlet's HOST and Clearing House.
· Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local community
· Empower customers to ensure they receive the service and benefits they are entitled to
· Undertake all administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive tenant/customer records to professional standards
· Encourage and enable tenants to pay their rent and to ensure that rent accounts are managed effectively in conjunction with the Housing Management team
· Ensure that referrals are chased proactively so that properties which can be used to house those in need are filled as efficiently as possible
· Engage in learning and development activity to increase knowledge and skills
· Ability to defuse challenging behaviour with awareness of personal safety.

The Role
This Senior Research Fellow post offers the opportunity to join our team of researchers working to achieve PLP’s strategic objectives. This role will focus on ensuring that justice is accessible to all.
As a Senior Research Fellow, you will help us shape and deliver our research agenda. With support from PLP’s Research Director and colleagues across the organisation, you will develop and lead high-quality research. Your work will be central to our efforts to design and advance a fair and inclusive administrative law justice system and advocate for a better resourced and more effective system.
You will be a team player, who embodies PLP’s values and supports collegiate and inclusive working culture. Working closely with colleagues in casework, public affairs, communications, events and fundraising, you will bring a deep commitment to using research as a lever for change. About the role:
The British Museum is seeking a Finance Assistant: Income to work as part of the Income function of the Finance Department. This is an integral role to ensure that cash is accurately counted and banked, financial data is accurate and that the service provided to departments is of a high standard.

- Cash handling:
- Participating in weekly cash donations collections throughout the Museum, including test counts

- Process petty cash expenses claim from employees as well as weekly GBP and foreign petty cash reconciliation
- Financial administration:
- Recover, check and input GPC returns to the GL, ensuring compliance with Museum group policy and that all required supporting documents are attached
- Issue invoices and debt collection for one of our entities
- Identify errors and inconsistencies in GL data and prepare correcting journals
- Assist in maintaining departmental records, files and archives (both electronic and physical)
- Other:
- Perform month end account reconciliations as directed
- Provide accurate and timely analysis as directed, including on cash donations, cash advances and aged debt
About you:
- A Levels, AAT or equivalent experience
- Experience of working in a finance team
- Knowledge of straightforward accounting principles and procedures
- Able to work swiftly and accurately with figures, maintaining consistency and accuracy in processing a high volume of transactions
- IT literate with excellent input and spreadsheet skills
- Excellent attention to detail and able to work under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Purpose of the post

Bank Support Workers have the ability to accept any shifts available on an ad-hoc basis across from all of Look Ahead's specialisms including Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Homelessness and Young People. Bank Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices. Within Learning Disability services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional and social care. Within Mental Health and Homelessness services they will enable vulnerable people living in a variety of different tenures to manage their tenancies/ licences and move towards greater independence within the community by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package. While carrying out activities, Bank Support Workers should deal with all customers, visitors and staff in a professional and appropriate manner and report to Look Ahead staff and management any observations relating to customers' welfare.

We are looking for a person with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills to coordinate the day-to-day running of an innovative community programme. The project aims to support local people in making use of available resources in Camden by co-producing a range of well-being workshops and Community Activities both in-house and with established community providers.
Our partners include the British Museum, Working Men’s College, London Zoo and many more. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate the ability to build and maintain relationships with partners, volunteers, services users and mental health professionals to provide a service dedicated to fostering community.

CARIS Families is a small frontline charity that offers holistic support to families experiencing homelessness in hostels in the London Boroughs of Camden and Hackney. Amongst our other services, we run play and learning activities for children aged 0-16 from within 4 hostels in these boroughs, as well as a school holiday day trip programme. Our services for children aim to reduce the stress on children and parents of living in overcrowded, insecure accommodation, and to put back essential childhood experiences that homeless accommodation deprives children of.
The services we currently offer our families in hostels are:
- Kids Club: an after-school play club in term time for 0-16s, run from our dedicated play club in the basement of one family hostel in Camden.
- Enrichment Trips and Summer Programme: a series of day trips for groups of families from our 4 hostels in the school holidays. We take part in exciting activities and visit interesting destinations round London and the South-East, to ease the pressures of being stuck in the hostel during the long school breaks.
- Essentials Bank: Our Essentials bank runs weekly in term-time from two of our hostels, offering families free hygiene products such as toiletries, nappies, washing powder etc. to ease the pressure on family finances at a difficult time.
- Family Support Work and Housing Casework: we offer holistic casework to support families to ease the stress of their situation, from working on finances to supporting employment searches, to assisting with legal cases and supporting them to navigate their housing case and move out of homelessness as soon as possible.
We are currently looking for an experienced Play and Community Worker to join our dedicated frontline Family Services team, delivering this vital support to around 100 children and their families each year.
Responsibilities of the Role
The Play and Community Worker will:
- Deliver play and learning activities for children aged 0-16 at our hostel-based Kids Club’s play sessions during term time in the London Borough of Camden.
- Deliver our Enrichment Trips School Holiday programme during school holidays (in Camden, Hackney and the wider London and South-East England area)
- Deliver our term-time Essentials Bank programme, providing free household goods to families in hostels
- Assist the Services Manager with a range of administrative and operational activities to support the day-to-day running of our Family Services and CARIS Families’ operations as a whole
- Provide a warm and welcoming experience for children and their families attending CARIS Families’ services

Person Specification
We are looking for a Play and Community Worker who is:
- Qualified to Level 2 or 3, or prepared to work towards this qualification in: Playwork, Early Years, CYP Workforce, Youth Work or any related area
- Experienced in delivering play within a CYP or community work setting, and working with 0- to 16-year-olds
- Experienced in providing and facilitating safe and creative play experiences
- Passionate about improving opportunities for disadvantaged children
- Understanding of the varied needs of children and their families, and of the impact of trauma and ACE on children’s development and wellbeing

We are seeking a proactive, organised and values-driven Project Coordinator to support the delivery of the Global Citizens’ Assembly. This is a pivotal role, providing core operational and logistical support, enabling Iswe to deliver a high-quality, inclusive, and impactful Civic Assembly as part of the Global Citizens’ Assembly.
