As an Advocate within The Angelou Centre you will be part of our front-line team providing emotional and trauma informed support to women and children.  As an Advocate working within Haven team your primary focus is on supporting the women and children living within our refuges.  Refuge Advocates are responsible for providing women and children with continuous one-to-one support, practical advice and advocacy, such as writing referrals for women to access immigration support. Much of this work takes the form of casework, and report writing, as well as ensuring that the women receive comprehensive support that addresses their health, social care, housing, immigration and benefit-related needs.

Refuge Advocate are required to attend police meeting, court hearings, immigration meetings. You will support women with housing benefits as well as ensuring they are attending training classes ran by The Angelou Centre. Working as a Refuge Advocate can be emotional demanding but is a highly rewording role.

Please be aware that this role will require you to sometimes work unsociable hours when rota-ed to be on-call.

Our ideal candidate is someone who;

• Is confident and pro-active in advocating on behalf of our survivors and able to represent their needs when working with partner agencies
• Is compassionate, non-judgmental and committed to supporting survivors of domestic abuse
• Has excellent written skills with some experience of casework within legal, healthcare or an educational setting.
• Has experience of conducting risk and needs assessments within legal, healthcare or an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities

 Advice and Advocacy Support

• Provide tailored, one-to-one continuous support, advice, and advocacy to black and minoritised victims and survivors of domestic abuse and exploitation
• Provide weekly drop-in opportunities for black and racially minoritized women in the local area
• Advocate for women with external agencies and promote social justice.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with Local Authorities, Children's Social Care and any other relevant voluntary and statutory agencies.
• Ensure that the health, wellbeing and rights of women and children are promoted throughout service delivery.
• To develop specialist knowledge in the area of domestic abuse, immigration abuse and gender-based violence, and how this impacts women from Black and racialized minorities differently, through attendance at relevant training, learning events and conferences

Casework

• Complete regular risk assessment tools for each case supported and risk management plans, including DASH RIC assessments.
• Complete reports, to assist Line Manager in providing detailed reports to funders
• Maintain in depth and up-to-date knowledge of all practice, procedures and policies.
• To deal with complaints, feedback and suggestions and identifying practical solutions to any barriers.
• Provide practical support to women taking all necessary steps to ensure the general safety, protection and wellbeing of women and children.
• Write quality assessment reports and support letters, collect evidence and statements, as well as undertake appropriate representation where necessary.
• Write quality risk assessments for referral to the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARACs) and Child Protection Conferences and to be in attendance when required.
• Assist women with their additional immigration needs, with the ability to work closely and effectively with legal representatives.

In order to deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is required and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties however, will fall within the scope of the job at the appropriate grade. Experience & Abilities

• Experience of supporting women who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse
• Experience of risk and needs assessment, safety and support planning, particularly with clients with complex/multiple needs
• Experience of partnership working and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders; particularly social care.
• Experience of managing a high caseload
• Strong IT skills with experience around data collection and monitoring
• Excellent written abilities, with some experience within preparing reports for courts, case conference and information for MARAC
• Experience around setting clear professional boundaries with clients and partners
• Ability to work cooperatively within a team and with statutory organisations

Knowledge & Qualifications

• An excellent understanding of sexual violence
• An excellent understanding of UK policies and legislation around domestic abuse
• Good knowledge of UK adult safeguarding practice, procedures and legislation.

About the role

Over the coming year, The Drive Partnership is looking to review, update, and design new training to offer to The Drive Project workforce. To lead this work, we are recruiting a Drive training team made up of a Senior Training Lead, Training Lead and Training Coordinator.

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) brings together 15 leading UK aid charities to raise funds quickly and efficiently at times of humanitarian crisis overseas. This role will require you to lead on organic social media as part of the DEC Communications team, working closely with the Digital and Innovation team in Fundraising, collaborate with social leads across our 15 member charities and public figures through our talent agency. Purpose of the Job

This is a key role within a small and busy finance team. The postholder is responsible for a range of transaction processing and finance administration; mostly focused on purchase ledger, sales ledger, assisting with the month-end process, and plays a vital role in upholding HFEH Mind’s financial controls.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, the Finance Officer will also need to communicate effectively with staff across the organisation and a wide range of suppliers to help resolve queries and ensure that the purchase and sales ledger processes are operating efficiently and effectively. Excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise to achieve internal reporting deadlines, and meticulous attention to detail, are critical for this role.
 

Job Description

Purchase and payments

• Ensure all invoices, expenses and credit notes received are processed following the agreed systems and controls.
• Process invoices and expenses into the accounting system.
• Creation of twice weekly and ad-hoc pay runs.
• Process and pay file generated into the bank software.
• Produce and send out remittances.
• Aged creditors review monthly
• Oversee that authorisation processes are being followed by staff.
• Process staff expense claims following the agreed systems and controls.
• Organise and process occasional cash floats and petty cash, ensuring unspent cash is accounted for and all transactions evidenced and recorded.

Card purchases

• Oversee day to day administration of card purchases, ensuring cardholders upload receipts and code transactions by the stated month end deadlines.
• Transfer fully evidenced and coded transactions from credit card template to Sage
• Reconcile transactions to the bank statements

Sales

• Raise sales invoices as requested and per income schedule.
• Sending out sales invoices to customers.
• Creation of a debtors report twice a month and distribute.
• Coordinate with operational staff for the recovery of debt; escalating in line with procedures.
• Posting cash receipts and allocate to the relevant invoice.
• Aged debts management

Banking

• Reconcile banking on a timely basis
• Post direct debit payments

Inbox management and other queries

• Daily review of new messages received into the finance email inbox from staff, suppliers and other parties, dealing with queries directly where possible.
• Be especially vigilant about phishing, Malware / spam emails which are common in generically named inboxes and following all data protection guidance given.
• For more involved queries, liaise with and assist other finance team members to resolve them appropriately; maintain responsibility for ensuring they are resolved.
• Excellent organisation and administration of both inboxes, to ensure the status of queries is clear at all times and appropriate records are kept on file.

Other regular tasks

• Support the Finance Manager with weekly payroll administration, for example communications with staff members regarding timesheets and new starter information.
• Pay cheques and cash into the bank account, including accurate completion of banking.
• Withdraw cash from the bank as necessary
• Lead on ensuring the digital filing structure is adhered to and support the rest of the team with scanning and filing as needed.
• Lead on the archiving of paper documents stored in the office.
• Assist with other tasks appropriate to your level of training where needed, to help ensure that the finance function operates effectively, including providing cover where staff are sick or taking annual leave.

Make a difference

This is an exciting opportunity to join our service supporting Unpaid Carers across Lewisham to improve their health and wellbeing, and access support that meets their needs.

The team works with unpaid Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers and Young Carers, completing statutory and holistic assessments to understand people’s individual circumstances and level of need. You will carry out home visits and community meetings, co-produce support plans, and develop effective relationships with Unpaid Carers, families, and professionals.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Finance Manager, who  will be responsible for the financial management and reporting of the organisation. Able to manage the day-to-day financial analysis and reporting requirements for Money Ready, and provide input for strategic financial planning. Responsible for the delivery of all management accounts, budget, forecasts and donor reporting as well as the annual statutory accounts. The Senior Finance Manager will be a member of the SMT. This role will lead or contribute to the implementation of new financial systems, tools, or procedures that improve efficiency, compliance, and transparency.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensures the timely and accurate production of all management and annual accounts and all forecasts in accordance with best practise and statutory requirements.
• A key business partner who provides value added business support and financial insight to the SMT and colleagues throughout the Charity.
• Provides financial insight to development team to assist with fundraising bids, prepare donor budgets, and ensure donor reporting and compliance throughout the grant life cycle.
• Responsible for delivery of all statutory and regulatory compliance, including statutory accounts, certification officer returns, Charities Commission, VAT and all payroll taxes.
• Responsible for fortnightly payment runs processing. Supervise and assist with the sale invoices processing and regular credit control. Monthly reconciliation of all Money Ready’s bank accounts.
• Responsible for monthly payroll including monthly and annual RTI reporting to HMRC, pensions payments, annual payroll processing and relevant reconciliations.
• Work with auditors on preparing the audit strategy and manage annual audit process, providing all the relevant paperwork during the audit process.
• Be a positive change champion for the organisation, identifying key impact areas and priorities and supporting change programmes and strategies in both finance and across the Union as a whole.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns with reconciliations and reporting. Line management, objective setting and performance reviews for direct report.
• Establish and maintain a robust internal controls environment that is fit for purpose but uses a risk-based approach to the establishment of processes and procedures.

Personal Specification

• You will need to show;
• Experience Substantial experience in a finance or accounting role (including at management level) in a not-for profit organisation.
• Substantial experience in the preparation of monthly management accounts and year end accounts.
• Substantial experience in processing monthly payroll using QuickBooks Payroll and Sage Payroll.
• Line management experience, including objectives setting and performance reviews.
• Experience in charity accounting principles, especially with regards to grants and restricted funds.
• Demonstrable experience of business partnering with multiple, non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience of establishing financial systems including business plans and budgets.

Bromley Recovery and Wellbeing College (BRWC) runs a curriculum of free peer and professional-led workshops and courses across the borough of Bromley. Our aim is to enable students to achieve greater insight into their own mental wellbeing and gain skills to help them achieve personal goals, independence and self-management of their own mental health.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Bromley Recovery and Wellbeing College Manager to join SEL Mind on a one year fixed-term basis. You will be a strategic planner, responsible for reviewing, implementing and managing the significant development of Bromley’s Recovery and Wellbeing College (BRWC)  You will design and oversee the delivery of quality-assured courses in response to wider local need, providing equity in opportunities and lead on delivering a successful shared vision for the BRWC. The role comes with line management responsibility for a BRWC Coordinator and an administrator, ensuring operational support for the day to day delivery and efficient running of the college as well as support for tutors and students.

You will work closely alongside SEL Mind colleagues as well as our Bromley Mental Health Hub partners Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.  You will also use strong partnership working skills to collaborate with stakeholders across the borough.

You will have experience of successfully delivering learning to others and of line management in a busy, fast paced environment. A strategic, proactive approach to problem solving and planning as well as excellent organisational skills are a must. Confidence to communicate effectively with a wide range of people is also required.

Hybrid working is considered in line with our policies and needs of the service. Occasional out-of-hours work is required to support the team delivering courses outside of core office hours.
