Role: Young Person Advocate and Bereavement Support Practitioner
Hours: 35 hours per week
Rate: £31,500 per annum (plus £2k London Weighting if London based)
Reporting to: Bereavement Support Service Lead
Base: Flexible hybrid working between home and one of Child Bereavement UK’s Centres in Widnes, Birmingham, High Wycombe, London or Glasgow

Child Bereavement UK helps families to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies.
We support children and young people (up to the age of 25) when someone important to them has died or is not expected to live, and parents and the wider family when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying.
We provide training to professionals in health and social care, education, and the voluntary and corporate sectors, equipping them to provide the best possible care to bereaved families.
About the Role
Child Bereavement UK has an exciting new opportunity for a Young Person Advocate and Bereavement Support Practitioner. This is a split post working primarily as a Young Person Advocate. The post holder will lead on the development and delivery of support for young people and the professionals that work with them by ensuring that young people have a voice and influence in the development of Child Bereavement UK’s Services across the UK.
In addition, as a Bereavement Support Practitioner, the post holder will be providing bereavement support to individuals, couples, families and in group settings, when a baby or child of any age has died or is dying, or where children or young people up to the age of 25 are bereaved.

Applicants should have a recognised, health, social care, or counselling qualification, experience in working with children, young people and families, excellent communication skills and be passionate about supporting bereaved families and those whose roles bring them into contact with these families.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a DBS check.

About our Community Crisis Cafés
Our Community Crisis Cafes offer a safe, welcoming and non-judgmental environment outside of normal working hours for those who feel in mental distress or crisis.
About the Role
This will involve working with service users in a preventative way, assessing needs, deescalating crisis, offering coping strategies, signposting to other services and ensuring they feel supported, through the process of improving their mental health and wellbeing.
Staff will work with a team of Crisis Recovery Workers & volunteers and will, at times, involve working out of the MK Hospital, at Eaglestone Centre, alongside the CNWL NHS team manning 111 option 2 calls and managing referrals.
Service Delivery
- Deliver crisis focussed 1:1s and ensure outcomes which supports individuals experiencing a mental health crisis in Houghton Regis & Central Bedfordshire, in line with Mind BLMK’s agreed crisis service and requirements as well as contract requirements.
- Assessing need and suitability for the service in line with the access to services process, and undertaking 1:1s.
- Contribute to maintaining an effective volunteer workforce for the service in line with Mind BLMK’s HR policies, procedures and guidance (workload planning and support).
- Carry out Cash Handling, Health and Safety and Data Collection responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader in line with Mind BLMK’s policies, procedures, requirements and guidance.

About the Role
Be part of a new service, supporting people with mental health challenges to achieve their goals by connecting with their community.
We are seeing a highly motivated candidate for our exciting new Community Connector service, which will work alongside GP surgeries across Cambridge. The Community Connector Service will support people with moderate to severe mental health challenges to achieve their goals and connect with their local community.
Community Connectors will work alongside GP surgeries to support people for whom social interaction will be key to their recovery. They will support people to set and achieve goals that will include accessing groups, activities and services in their community.
About You
We are seeking candidates who have experience of supporting people with moderate to severe mental health challenges; have a preference for strengths-based approaches; and enjoy spending time with others.
The post holder will have experience of supporting at least one person with complex mental health needs, they will be highly motivated and organised, and confident to work autonomously.
The successful candidate will work closely with Primary Care Networks as a member of the CPSL Mind Team. As such they will gain both Statutory and Third Sector experience, with potential progression routes in both. They will receive induction training and ongoing personal development.
