Contract type: 12-month fixed term contract
Full time: 34.5 hours, we are open to a conversation about how you work these hours
Location: Mobile worker with regular travel expected across either the North East OR London and the South East of England (typically 1-2 days a week, with occasional overnight stays) plus occasional travel elsewhere in the UK.
Salary range: £44,000 - £49,000

About the role
As a Communities Manager, you will play a vital role in building trusted relationships with communities, community organisations and partners to ensure the voices of people affected by cancer are heard, valued and embedded in decision-making.
You will provide leadership and expertise in community engagement, helping to empower and mobilise communities to influence improvements in cancer care and support. Working collaboratively across Macmillan and with external stakeholders, you will develop sustainable community networks, strengthen local capacity and capability, and support communities to become equal partners in co-design and systems change initiatives.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about tackling health inequities, building meaningful partnerships and creating lasting impact for underrepresented and marginalised communities.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community organisations, grassroots groups and system partners.
- Develop and deliver community engagement plans that increase participation and amplify underrepresented voices.
- Support communities to influence decision-making, service design and systems change initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen community capacity, capability and sustainable networks.
- Use insight and data to prioritise communities where the greatest gaps exist.
- Support community organisations to access funding, resources and campaigning opportunities.
- Plan and deliver community engagement activities and events.
- Measure and evaluate the impact of community engagement and participation activity.
About you
- Experience of community engagement, partnership development and stakeholder management.
- Experience of building relationships and working collaboratively across diverse communities and organisations.
- Deep understanding of and passion for tackling inequities and amplifying the voices of marginalised communities.
- Strategic thinking and ability to work effectively in a matrix environment.
- Knowledge of co-design, co-production and community-led approaches.
- Strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use insight and data to inform decisions and drive impact.
- Understanding of the wider health and care system (desirable, not essential)

Lead the operations, governance and compliance that enable Solving Kids' Cancer UK to deliver its mission and impact for children and families affected by neuroblastoma. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will play a critical role in ensuring the charity operates effectively, compliantly and sustainably.
This broad and varied leadership role spans governance, risk, HR, IT, data protection and organisational operations, supporting delivery of the charity's strategy through robust systems, policies and processes. Acting as Company Secretary, you will work closely with the CEO and Board of Trustees, providing advice on governance, regulatory requirements and best practice. As a member of the Leadership Team, you will oversee key operational functions, lead cross-organisational projects and deputise for the CEO where required.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a strategic, highly organised and values-driven leader with strong experience in charity operations, governance and compliance. You will have a track record of ensuring organisations are well run, compliant and effectively managed, with the ability to oversee multiple operational areas and support strong governance and decision-making at Board level.
You will be comfortable working across a broad remit, including governance, risk, HR, IT and data protection, and confident providing clear, practical advice to senior leaders and trustees.
Person specification
Key requirements include:
- Significant senior-level experience in operations, governance or compliance within a charity or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of charity governance and regulation, with experience supporting boards and senior leadership.
- Experience overseeing organisational functions such as HR, IT, data protection or risk.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-organisational work effectively.
- Strong judgement, integrity and the ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion.

UKATA is the leading professional body in the UK for those learning and practicing Transactional Analysis (TA). Founded in 1974, UKATA has grown into a vibrant community of over 1100 members, from curious learners to advanced practitioners, all dedicated to the growth of TA theory and practice. UKATA is an organisational member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the European Association of Transactional Analysis (EATA).
The Opportunity
This is a key operational role at the heart of UKATA. You’ll combine day-to-day operational coordination with responsibility for agreed projects and organisational improvements. You’ll also support members, governance, communications and events, working closely with the Managing Director, contractors and volunteers to help deliver an excellent experience for our members.
No two days are the same. One day you might be coordinating an online event, updating our website or producing reports from our membership management system to support decision-making. The next you could be designing an internal process, supporting our National Conference or leading a new organisational project.
What You'll Do
- Play a central role in the smooth day-to-day running of UKATA and helping improve how we work
- Lead key projects to improve systems, processes and the member experience
- Support members, governance and UKCP registration processes
- Maintain and develop our CRM, website and digital systems
- Help deliver communications, events and member engagement
- Work closely with trustees, volunteers and contractors to support the organisation
- Build relationships with members, registered training providers and other stakeholders
About You

Location and Working Hours
This is a home-based role with flexible remote working arrangements. Regular travel across the UK is required to support conferences, trustee and committee meetings, planning days, and other organisational activities. On average, this is expected to be around once a month, although the level of travel will go up and down, with some periods busier than others. Reasonable travel and accommodation expenses will be reimbursed in line with UKATA policies.
We are looking for someone who can work 30 hours across at least four days a week, primarily during normal weekday office hours. Some flexibility will be required to attend occasional evening meetings and weekend events.
Salary
The full-time equivalent salary for this role is £40,000. The pro rata salary is £32,000.

- A relevant professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), either fully or part qualified, or qualified by experience.
- Experience supporting business teams with budgeting, forecasting and month-end processes, including ensuring appropriate controls are in place and financial performance is communicated effectively and on time.
- A track record of applying analytical skills to provide financial advice that supports strategic decision-making.

- The confidence to challenge, negotiate and influence, while taking a balanced view that incorporates different perspectives.
