Job Title: Housing Independent Gender Violence Advocate (Housing IGVA)
Location: The GAIA Centre (Lambeth, London)

The Housing Independent Gender Violence Advocate (IGVA) will be embedded within borough housing teams to facilitate the dual working that will ensure that survivors’ safety and housing needs are met. This includes:
· Close working relationships with Housing colleagues
· Provision of specialist knowledge relating to DA for Housing Officers and Homelessness Teams to draw on
· Specialist support for survivors at the moment of crisis
· Provision of advocacy; supporting survivors to access safe accommodation
· Ongoing support from the IGVA from wider DA service, including access to group clinical supervision, casework management meetings, reflective practice sessions, one-to-one supervision from service manager
The Housing IGVA will work closely with victims of gender-based violence from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of gender-based violence at the highest risk and their children. The role will be part of increasing the ability of partner agencies to recognise, reject and respond appropriately and safely to all forms of gender-based violence (including domestic violence, sexual, financial and emotional abuse, female genital mutilation, forced marriage and honour-based violence).
The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. The job involves informing survivors of the full range of civil, criminal, housing and practical options that might increase their safety. The post holder will empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and personal welfare support especially around complex housing needs.
The job involves ensuring that women are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options.

General Information
Big Local Works (BLW) is a community-focused economic and social inclusion charity based in Bermondsey, South East London. We want to help create a thriving, inclusive local economy and a community in which everyone can participate.
We deliver our support in the community through three main services:
- Expert welfare and benefits advice and advocacy for local people experiencing poverty and hardship
- Employability Skills training and coaching to help people access ways of increasing their earned income
- Start-up and enterprise support for clients who wish to start trading on the local ‘Blue Market’ People Powered Regeneration
- Wider community building designed to create a more tolerant, diverse, and lively local community where everybody is welcome
We have a strategic vision to create a ‘people-powered regeneration’ in an area already undergoing massive redevelopment. In July 2019, a community campaign was successful in securing £2m funding from the GLA for the ‘Made in Bermondsey’ regeneration project centred on making key improvements to the local marketplace,
the Blue Market in South Bermondsey. Final works were completed in July 2022 and the market now has a first-class infrastructure for traders, local residents and visitors to use and enjoy the Blue Market Place. The market also showcases a vision of a better future for the local area: a more prosperous, resilient and connected local community where people come together to trade, socialise, and celebrate across the diverse boundaries.
South Bermondsey has a problematic history with racism and other forms of intolerance, and while migrant (recent and longer-term) communities have begun to settle in Bermondsey after many years of exclusion, there remains a sense that they are not full members of our community. Through our work we seek to empower local people, encourage enterprise and community activity, which is intended both to support the economic regeneration of the area and to empower and increase the confidence of local diverse communities.
Most recently, we have been successful in securing £200,000 from the Esmee Fairbairn Charity for strategy and community engagement support in the local area.

Community Organiser – Enterprise and Engagement
Over the past 2 years, we’ve undertaken in-depth research and community mapping to understand our area’s needs, assets and lived experiences.
This role has three key responsibilities:
- Outreach and engagement with diverse local communities to help them build a stronger, more representative voice.
- Supporting the development of new initiatives by local people to stimulate a sense of community.
- Ensuring that a wider range of local people are involved and included in community activity, and their voices heard – especially those from marginalized communities
Key Tasks include
- Provide practical support and encouragement to the development of new initiatives in the local area.
- Broker collaborations and relationships between local groups, helping them develop relationships and networks.
- Identify and develop active citizens, and support them to develop and deliver their own individual and shared community Initiatives – from microbusinesses on the market, to dance and knitting clubs or arts groups
- Facilitate groups and provide ‘servant leadership’ for community groups where appropriate, managing conflict effectively
- Develop effective and positive relationships with local stakeholders from many different backgrounds, communicating assertively and with diplomacy and tact.
- Organise Events: Plan and host public and private events, both online and in person, to strengthen community ties and increase visibility.

Working pattern

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts for Whitechapel Gallery and Whitechapel Gallery Ventures.
- Prepare monthly consolidated accounts, including income & expense reports, balance sheets, and cash flow.
- Ensure the integrity of financial data through monthly review of transactions and correct coding to nominals and departments.
- Ensure compliance with donor restrictions, public sector, and charitable sector regulations.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including accruals, prepayments, and stock.

- Work with the Publications and Editions team to perform quarterly review and reconciliation of stock and post journals for movements in Sage.

The charity is now seeking a Director of Individual Giving in a new and exciting opportunity to explore how UK4U can expand on these foundations, with a focus on increasing the sustainability of the donor base and maximising lifetime value, as well as identifying opportunities for transformational income growth.
The role will be responsible for leading a team of 12 people and strategic leadership for all fundraising from the UK public, including mid-value and legacy supporters, and covering both digital and offline channels. You will also have a deep understanding of the UK Individual Giving fundraising market across all channels and of programmes that focus on value, high average gift rates and mid-value programmes. Experience of fundraising for international humanitarian and development causes would be an advantage, as well as understanding of mid-value programmes.

This is a new role that we have created to provide leadership to our supported housing (including YP OFSTED regulated housing) services. As our lead professional for housing and member of the Extended Executive Leadership Team, this role will be responsible for developing a housing vision and strategy aligned to the wider organisational strategy. This will ensure quality across all our housing sites and the overall scope of service delivery aligns and exceeds the expectations of our internal and external stakeholders.
With planned growth to 1000 units in the next two years plus preparing to be a Large Registered Provider this role will ensure processes, structures, systems and resourcing meet regulatory requirements and are consistently and innovatively delivering best value, sustainability and positive impact.

We are recruiting for Service Manager who is passionate about supporting survivors who are impacted by domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. This is a multifaceted, fast paced, and exciting role where you will join our team in Hounslow & Hillingdon to lead on the delivery and development of high-quality refuge services for survivors of domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. Our service provision in Hounslow & Hillingdon includes number of refuges supporting survivors and their children.
The post holder will provide line management and support to the accommodation based services staff. This will include providing supervision on complex and high-risk cases, overseeing operational emergencies, and ensuring high standards of casework. You will also ensure that all service users in refuges always receive a high-quality support service in line with Refuge’s policies and procedures.
The Service Manager will lead on the delivery of the multiagency aspect of work, working jointly with the Refuge teams and wider stakeholders to deliver best services to the survivors.
Candidates must have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to vulnerable people, managing, and motivating staff, managing casework as well as working within multiagency setting. In addition, you must have an excellent knowledge of domestic abuse and other gender-based violence and its impact on survivors.
You will have knowledge of relevant Criminal and Civil law legislation, as well as Housing and Health and Safety legislation.
As member of the management team, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call management service.
The service manager will be responsible for ensuring that contractual and other funding requirements are met fully, this includes ensuring that the services operate within the allocated budget and that Refuge’s high-quality standards are maintained. The role may involve visiting potential sites and contributing to the establishment of new services in conjunction with the development team.

This role is pivotal in leading on developing commissioning and referral relationships with external stakeholders, whilst driving development of services and marketing activities to build and promote new business, increase income, strengthen pipelines, and position The Children's Trust as the provider of choice for children with acquired brain injury and neurodisability.
You’ll work alongside a cross-organisational team to promote our services to external stakeholders, in particular managing our key account plan to influence, maximise referrals and income generating opportunities. Key to this is cultivating and maintaining relationships with stakeholders including hospital-based clinicians, commissioners at both integrated care boards and local authorities, with professionals with NHS England at a regional and national levels, embassies, medico-legal professionals including case managers and lawyers.
