We have an exciting new opportunity to join our Membership Events team as Membership Events Officer.

Part of a hard working, fantastic team, this role will see you delivering, supporting and coordinating RBL Membership Directorates busy catalogues of events. This includes Annual Conference, County Chair Seminars, Awaydays, Meet-ups and meetings.

This role will see you working within our Membership Policy and Compliance team supporting on a range of high profile events across the year.

Reporting to the Membership Events Manager, key responsibilities will include:

- Lead and manage workstreams for organisation of Annual Conference, including chairing Working Group meetings, coordinating exhibitions, managing registration, accommodation and catering bookings, venue sourcing, IT and AV requirements and more
- Work alongside Membership Services, Communications and Compliance teams, as well as Brand, to collaborate cohesively on events
- Create and distribute registration forms for all events and manage responses and attendee requirements
- Liaise with venue staff, raise relevant payments, negotiate prices and conditions, and finalise event agreements according to changing requirements
- Use appropriate and effective event planning tools to manage workload, deadlines and reporting

You will bring with you experience in events planning and management and strong administrative and minute taking experience. You will be confident using various systems including Microsoft Office and databases and will be an exceptional communicator with groups and stakeholders at all levels.

You will be contracted to our London, Haig House, Hub with a minimum expectation of two days per week working in person at the Hub (one of which must be a Wednesday) and flexibility for working remotely/at home when not on site.

About the role

As an Experienced Practitioner, you will provide direct support and care for our young people who have complex emotional and mental health difficulties (such as trauma and loss) and can struggle to regulate their emotions.

Working within a therapeutic framework, you will develop a direct programme of work aimed at developing authentic relationships with our children and young people (aged 12 – 17 years old), you will also have responsibility for making sure our residents are safe, providing support, liaison with other professionals and completion of support documents to record information.

Applicants should have

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (i.e. Level 3 Diploma Children and Young People Workforce with the children's social care pathway) or be willing to achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 2 years as per Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 (England).
• Minimum of 1 years’ experience working and supporting children and Young People to achieve their full potential.

What you’ll do

Since 2019, we have been building a cross-cutting thematic programme using our investor accountability, corporate engagement and public policy toolkit to build a movement to harness the power of the investment system to address commercial determinants of health.

In 2022, we launched Long-Term Investors in People’s Health (LIPH), a cross-cutting programme of work leveraging our toolkit of investor accountability, corporate engagement and policy advocacy. It is one of ShareAction’s largest programmes. Since the launch of LIPH, we have run high-profile campaigns to get large food manufacturers and retailers to improve their health disclosures and sell healthier products via our Healthy Markets Initiative (HMI); recently set up a Clean Air Initiative (CAI); mobilised investors to engage with corporates, the UK government, and standard-setting bodies on issues such as clean air and sick leave policies; and partnered with academics to grow the evidence base on the financial materiality of health. We have ambitious plans to take this work forward and are looking for a new Head of the team to help us do so.

As Head of Health, you will:

• Oversee and contribute to the successful implementation of ShareAction’s strategy to tackle poor health via its LIPH programme, a cross-cutting programme of work leveraging our toolkit of investor accountability, corporate engagement and policy advocacy.
• Lead and motivate a team of 10 staff members and directly line manage at least three of them.
• Ensure adequate risk management and monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes are in place.
• Together with the Fundraising team and Co-Director of Corporate Engagement, be responsible for securing funding for the LIPH programme, including writing funding bids, supporting with relationship management, supporting the coordination of our Funders’ Governance Group, and helping produce update reports.
• Plan, manage and report on budget for the LIPH programme, delegating workstream and campaign budgets where there are appropriate leads.
• Develop and nurture strategic relationships with senior external stakeholders, including funders, journalists, investors, and civil society organisations.
• Act as one of ShareAction’s subject matter experts on commercial determinants of health, keeping your knowledge up to date with developments across academia, civil society, and public policy.
• Act as a media spokesperson for the team and represent it in internal and external forums.
• Work with peers at the “Head of” level to play a leadership role across ShareAction.

• Desirable professional qualification (CQSW, DipSW, NVQ3), or willingness to undertake Diploma Level 3 for Residential Childcare.

Safeguarding Officer

£45,000 - £48,000 depending on experience

Home based with travel around the Synod and occasional Synod Office attendance when directed

Southern Synod are seeking to appoint a Safeguarding Officer. The post holder will be the main contact for the churches within Southern Synod to advise them on safeguarding children and adults at risk on a day-to-day basis, as well as providing training to a wide range of people as necessary.  They will have excellent communication skills, broad experience of networking across organisations, expert knowledge of current statutory safeguarding legislation and the ability to work and travel independently. 

Discretion and confidentiality is important, as is an awareness of and willingness to work with the aims, objectives, culture, challenges and Christian ethos of the United Reformed Church. 

 Main responsibilities:

· to be an advocate and role model for safeguarding in the Synod

· to advise and support the Synod and local Churches in safeguarding matters

· to deliver or enable safeguarding training

· to ensure that accurate records are kept, and relevant reports are completed

· to keep abreast of developments in safeguarding and maintain appropriate links
