Domestic Abuse Officer

Location: Waltham Forest/London

Young Ladies Club aims to raise aspirations in disadvantaged young women to achieve their education and career potential by providing mentoring, confidence building activities and career workshops from positive role models.  We envision a world where young women’s socio-economic background does not impact educational and career outcomes.

We are now looking for an experience Domestic Abuse Officer to provide an effective, efficient, and supportive service to women who are victims of domestic abuse providing emotional, practical and welfare support. As our Domestic Abuse Officer, you will provide a high-quality pro-active service to victims of domestic abuse and other forms of VAWG in either 1:1 or group settings delivering a service to those at medium and low risk.

As a Domestic Abuse Officer, your responsibilities will be:

· To work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse.

· To ensure that women are enabled to access their rights and are informed about their options.

· To reach out to survivors of domestic abuse and raise awareness of domestic abuse and local services offered.

· To support and implement the aims and objectives of Young Ladies Club ensuring that all work is undertaken in accordance with Young Ladies Club policies and procedures.

· To facilitate or co-facilitate the support groups

· To facilitate the provision of culturally sensitive therapeutic interventions and counselling services.

Required Skills and Experience:

· Demonstrable qualifications and/or experience in the field of domestic violence accommodation and support.

· An excellent working knowledge of key issues faced by black and minoritised women who have experienced Domestic Abuse and VAWG. Able to apply this knowledge at a practical level.

· Experience of identifying and responding to the risks to and needs of survivors of domestic

violence

· Experience of working with vulnerable women at least some of which are women or girls affected by domestic abuse and other forms of gender-based violence.

· A sound working knowledge of the practical, emotional, social and economic issues facing black and minoritised women and girls affected by domestic, and intimate relationship abuse

· Experience of multi-agency partnership working

· Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to Immigration, Honour Based Violence, Forced Marriage and FGM.

· Experience in running support groups in the community

· Ability to work with interpreters and volunteers.

· Ability to work with voluntary organisations, local authorities and government agencies on behalf of women.

· Effective communication skills.

· Experience of managing basic administrative systems.

· Training and qualifications in the provision of advice and advocacy on issues such as housing, welfare benefits and domestic violence.

· Good working knowledge of IT system and databases.

· Ability to run groups virtually on Zoom/Teams etc

Welfare Rights Adviser

The role

The welfare rights adviser will report to the welfare rights supervisor.

The welfare rights adviser  will be supporting people affected by long term health issues with financial challenges, supporting with benefit and housing advice, and referring on for further support where appropriate. 

Experience as a welfare rights adviser, including managing your own casework, is essential when applying for this role.

Principal accountabilities / responsibilities: -

Welfare rights advice and casework

· To provide welfare rights advice and casework for people affected by long-term health conditions, including inpatients, outpatients, and carers.

· To work at least two days per week on site, mainly based at the Royal Free Hospital or the Royal Free Charity office

· To provide advice and support primarily on welfare benefits and housing matters (that do not require a solicitor).

· To check whether clients are in receipt of all the benefits they are entitled to and help them claim relevant benefits.

· To help clients understand benefit decisions and challenge them (where appropriate) by way of mandatory reconsiderations and appeals.

· To help clients ensure they keep to their responsibilities in respect of their benefit claims, for example by notifying any relevant changes of circumstances.

· To refer or signpost clients to other agencies or departments as appropriate, e.g., housing solicitors; community care cases involving social services and NHS duties, FCA-regulated debt and immigration services.

· To signpost or refer to other services that might be valuable to a client such as condition specific charities, mental health support, or offerings in the local community that would improve their health and wellbeing.

· As part of this role, there may be some advice given to NHS staff.

· There may also be some involvement in new advice projects

· There will also be some triaging new referrals as part of this role

• Ensure patients understand their discharge plan every step of the way.

You’ll meet with patients, their families, friends, or carers to assess ongoing needs, ensuring a safe plan is in place for their return home. This could include ensuring that medication is arranged from the hospital pharmacy, someone is at home to greet them, food and heating are available, and the condition of the home is safe to return to. You may be required to liaise with Adult Social Care and other home providers to coordinate home support. You’ll follow up on calls or visits to ensure the patient is managing well at home. By providing the proper support, patients can be discharged sooner, and the risk of readmission is significantly reduced.

• Has experience working with vulnerable adults in social care, healthcare, or the community/voluntary sector
• Communicates with empathy and confidence across different teams at different levels, and with patients

This is a corprorate partnerships focused Philanthropy & Partnerships Officer role, ideal for someone skilled in business development and relationship management who is passionate about driving social impact through strategic partnerships. You will work with a diverse range of companies — from global brands and corporate foundations to purpose-led SMEs — helping to deliver mutually beneficial partnerships that raise both income and profile for Hand in Hand International.

As Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer (Corporate Partnerships), you will:

• Manage and grow a portfolio of corporate partners, corporate foundations, and institutional organisations
• Support the expansion of new, high-value strategic partnerships
• Help develop and deliver the organisation’s Cause-Related Marketing (CRM) product to raise both revenue and brand visibility
• Identify, cultivate and secure new business opportunities through proactive outreach and networking
• Contribute to the corporate team target of $3.2 million and the overall PCP team target of $7.1 million
• Collaborate with programme teams to develop tailored, impact-led proposals and partnership pitches
• Steward existing corporate partners to deepen engagement and ensure mutual value
• Build strong, strategic relationships with corporate stakeholders at all levels

Ideal skills and experience:

• At least 1 year of experience in corporate partnerships, business development, or major donor fundraising
• Proven ability to secure new partnerships and deliver tangible income results
• Track record of managing and growing six-figure relationships or accounts
• Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills, confident engaging with senior stakeholders across sectors
• Creative thinker with a strategic mindset and ability to align business objectives with social impact
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adept at developing compelling proposals and pitches
• Highly organised, detail-oriented, and results-focused

The role

Reporting to the Professional Conduct Manager, you will be crucial to the operation of the BAcC's disciplinary and professional health procedures. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Case Management & Panels: Assisting in the effective operation and management of Professional Conduct Panels (Investigating Panel, PCCP, Health Committee).
• Legal Liaison: Instructing and liaising with BAcC counsel and solicitors on complex disciplinary and fitness-to-practice matters.
• Policy & Codes: Drafting, researching, and updating the BAcC’s Professional Codes and Guidance Notes, ensuring they align with new legislation and best practices.
• Advising: Providing expert advice and support to the Professional Conduct Manager, Governing Board, and panels on regulatory matters and risk management.
• Public Protection: Handling and managing a varied caseload of complaints and concerns from patients and the public relating to issues such as boundary breaches, safe practice, and clinical competence.

About you (essential requirements)

We are looking for a candidate who is driven, analytical, and highly organised. You must be able to work autonomously and bring significant expertise in the following:

• Post-graduate Legal Qualification OR Extensive professional experience within a UK professional regulation environment (e.g., fitness to practice, professional conduct, ethics).
• Proven experience in advising or working directly with Panels/Committees in disciplinary or statutory proceedings.
• Strong understanding of legal principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to write clearly in plain English for guidance documents and reports.

About the Service

Waltham Forest Advocacy & Support Services provide free and confidential support to survivors of abuse within the community. The teams are made up of professional staff offering short to medium term support to women and men affected by domestic and sexual violence in the community. Our team offer information, advocacy and specialist services to increase safety and meet a range of needs – these can include ongoing safety concerns, emotional or housing support, legal options, reporting to the police, help around child contact, benefits and financial advice. As part of the support, we also ensure survivors can access therapeutic support via the Waltham Forest Therapeutic Marketplace. 

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen in this busy team for a Duty Worker.  The successful candidate will be responsible in dealing with all incoming referrals and queries to the Advocacy Service. The role will involve processing all referrals, liaising with professionals, establishing initial contact as per the service’s contract requirement. The process of initial contact will involve completing a Safe Lives risk assessment, assessing the service user’s practical and therapeutic needs and supporting with any urgent needs that arise during this contact. Additionally, the duty worker will make appropriate referral out, this includes MARAC and complete adult and child safeguarding referrals where required in line with Solace’s policies and procedures. The Duty Worker will maintain and manage any waiting list and will work closely with all members of the team in relation to the allocation of cases and case updates.

About You

Successful applicants will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on service users and their children, and experience of working with women who have experienced domestic and/or sexual abuse. It is essential that you have experience of using Office Excel and case management system. You will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
