Befriending Volunteer
You can make a difference…Age UK Wandsworth is a small, local, independent charity that has been working with older people in the area since 1963. We rely on your support to keep serving the older residents with in the Wamdsworth community. We have a dedicated team of experienced staff and a large network of dedicated local volunteers. Our aim is to enable everyone to age well in Wandsworth. We would love your help to be able to continue to support older Wandsworth residents.
Our Be-a-Friend service is one of our longest running services, matching people over 65, who live alone and have limited social contact, with a friendly local volunteer with similar hobbies and interests. The volunteer and their new friend set up a suitable time for them to meet each week for a chat and a cup of tea, which could be during the day, in the evening on the way home from work or even on the weekends . If you would prefer to volunteer from home, you can also be matched with an older person for telephone befriending. For many of our matched pairs, this is the beginning of a firm friendship.
Befriending Plus
Befriending Plus is an extended version of the Be-a-Friend programme, for individulas needing help with life admin and small tasks as well as companionship. For Befriending Plus pairs, time spent together can include helping to use a phone or tablet, helping the client to organise their file, going out for a coffee or popping to the post office together. This support can help older people to stay independent at home for longer, as well as increasing their confidence to do these tasks when the volunteer is not there.

CPRE North and East Yorkshire are looking for a Trustee and Supporter Development Lead to contribute to our important work protecting our beautiful local countryside and green spaces.
Who we are
CPRE campaigns nationally and locally for positive solutions which safeguard the long-term future of our precious countryside. At national level, the charity produces in-depth research and sound arguments to press government, Parliament and other decision-makers to support our countryside, be it national landscapes or simply much loved local green spaces, through policies which ensure:
- The right development in the right place
- Active support to improve biodiversity and
- Countryside protection from climate change impacts and contribution to climate change solutions.
Here in North and East Yorkshire, the largest of the CPRE regions (6,900 square miles!), we have a successful track record of enabling residents and community groups to help shape development in ways that enrich the countryside around them. We also use our planning expertise to proactively campaign for local authority planning policies that safeguard and enhance our beautiful and varied landscapes.
The role
Our small but energetic team of volunteer Trustees enable people to protect the countryside they love and enjoy the benefits it brings wherever they live. But with your support we can do even more!
In joining us as a Trustee on the Board you’ll have a general role in developing the charity in line with our strategy and, together with other Trustees, ensuring compliance with Charity Commission and other legal and governance regulations. However additionally as our Lead for Supporter Development you will use your specialist knowledge to inform and guide the Trustee Board in this area and coordinate and drive forward related activities to meet agreed aims. As part of this remit, you will also oversee the recruitment of a Communications and Supporter Care Officer (a brand new role) and have ongoing responsibility for communicating organisational requirements and providing feedback to the individual once engaged.
+Trustees initially serve a three-year term and may serve up to six years in total.

Trustee duties

Over the past three decades, the Rory Peck Trust has supported more than 3,000 freelance journalistts,, before, during and post assignment – over 500 in 2024 alone.. We fund training to equip them to report from the world’s most dangerous places, crisis assistance when things go wrong, and mental health support to help them rebuild their lives. Sadly, more freelance journalists than ever need our help so they can continue reporting from places as diverse as Myanmar, Haiti, Sudan and Gaza.
Trustees have ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of the Rory Peck Trust, ensuring it is solvent, well run and delivering its mission. They are expected to attend Board meetings, sit on one Committee of the Board, attend meetings of these Committees and contribute to the direction of the Rory Peck Trust by supporting the Management Team in particular projects or areas on request, e.g. recruitment of Board members or senior staff roles.

The Role
The People and Culture (P&C) Committee is responsible to the Board of Trustees for oversight of the People and Culture Strategy and its effective implementation, including the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion agenda. The scope of the P&C Committee includes HQ volunteers as well as the staff workforce. It sets and reviews the salary of executive management; oversees the annual cost of living review, is focused on developing the right working culture for the organisation and scrutinises and approves HR policies.
The role of an Independent Member is to provide the People and Culture Committee with advice, guidance and scrutiny to assist the Committee in making key decisions.
Main Responsibilities
Along with other members of the Committee:
- Review the People & Culture Strategy which supports the organisational strategy and recommend it to the Board
- Act as advisor to ensure Equity, Diversity and Inclusion considerations for staff and HQ volunteers underpin the objectives within the People & Culture strategy
- Conduct high level monitoring and oversight of the achievement of objectives within the People & Culture strategy
- Oversee the HR function to assure that we are legally compliant, effective and responsive to the needs of the organisation and its people
- Ensure that the culture of the organisation is appropriate to achieve its objectives and support its values
- Monitor HR key performance indicators to assure the Committee and the Board that the Scouts is a good employer

The person
Candidates should:
- Have a strong track record of achievement, especially in the area of Reward and Recognition
- Have experience of contributing to, supporting and or/leading HR policy formulation and culture setting across a large organisation or movement
- Have experience of designing and managing pay, benefits and non-financial incentives to motivate people
- Have a breadth of vision and a grasp of governance issues alongside an eye for detail
- Have unquestioned integrity, effective communications skills and experience of high-level discussion
- Have an understanding and commitment to The Scout Association’s evolving strategic plan and vision
- Be able to digest and act upon large amounts of written material, and have the ability to consider and constructively challenge the performance, strategy and objectives of The Scout Association
- Have experience of the Scout Movement and, ideally, the role of HQ volunteers

Time Commitment
For this role, the appointed candidate should expect to spend the equivalent of a day per quarter on The Scout Association’s work after the induction phase. This is based on preparation for and attendance at the scheduled People and Culture Committee meetings (three in each year, generally two meetings online and one face to face in London)
Appointment term
Appointments are typically for an initial three-year term, with the possibility of a further term of three years subject to a satisfactory appraisal.
Remuneration and expenses
In common with other registered charities, there is no remuneration directly associated with the role, although the Association will reimburse fully for all reasonable and properly documented expenses incurred in performing duties in accordance with the Association’s Expenses Policy.
Safeguarding rules – Yellow Card
We are a youth organisation who takes safeguarding seriously. The post holder agrees to comply at all times with the safeguarding rules as set out on TSA’s yellow card. This is shared with young people and carers, as well as employees, so everyone knows our rules of engagement. In order to comply, stringent vetting procedures take place including checking against an internal database to assess suitability and also Basic/Enhanced DBS checks as required.

Children Change Colombia (CCC) is seeking a finance and investment trustee based in the UK and/or in Colombia to join our dynamic team that operates in the UK and Colombia.
Children Change Colombia is the UK’s largest charity with more than 30 years experience working exclusively in Colombia. We believe that, with the appropriate support, Colombian children can claim their right to live safely and in peace and demand that the adults responsible for protecting their rights do so – in this way, children can change Colombia. Over the last three decades, CCC has helped more than 65,000 children to overcome the trauma of poverty, armed conflict, displacement, and the lack of education, and has invested 15 million pounds in more than 50 multiannual projects all across the country.
We seek to complement the work of others and avoid duplication whenever possible. One of our key aims is to work on issues that are neglected by others and bring innovation where opportunities are short. Many of the projects we support are pioneering services for children in areas where such services do not already exist. For instance, we work in schools in remote villages near the Pacific coast where state institutions are weak and few NGOs operate. In cases where other organisations do operate services for children, we collaborate with our partners to help them identify these organisations and then determine how they can work to complement and improve existing services.
The finance and investment trustee will be part of the Board of Trustees and support the Fundraising efforts, contribute to the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, with a particular focus on the effective stewardship of new strategies for funding such an endowment. This includes ensuring new sources of charitable income are managed in accordance with legal and ethical standards, aligned with the charity’s long-term mission, and capable of delivering sustainable income for future generations.
Reports to: Chair of the Board of Trustees
Their main duties and responsibilities include:

Fulfil all legal duties of a charity trustee as defined by the Charity Commission and the Charities Act 2011.

ScreenSkills launched its new five-year strategy in October 2024 and has been reviewing its governance in a review begun in early 2024 in response to the Screen Industry Task Force report November 2023. We are now seeking four ScreenSkills Trustees who have a broad mix of senior industry experience to join the Board, which is made up of senior leaders in the screen industry, for this new phase of the charity’s development.
Ideally the Trustees will have experience/expert knowledge in at least one of the following areas:

The primary responsibilities of the trustees are to provide ScreenSkills with strategic leadership including governance experience, financial oversight, risk, and stakeholder management.
The Trustees will play a vital role ensuring ScreenSkills can deliver its core purpose and vision and to support the screen sector sustainably as a strategic skills body. As a trustee you will be responsible for the overall management and administration of ScreenSkills, to ensure it complies with charity law and any other relevant legislation. You will have responsibility for ensuring the organisation pursues its charitable objectives as stated in its terms of reference, operational plans and budgets to support the vision and strategy.
As a Trustee you will support the senior leadership team to identify major risks to the organisation which are regularly identified and reviewed ensuring systems are in place to mitigate these risks.
The trustees will also be required to support the senior leadership team to ensure the views of stakeholders are regularly sought and considered, taking into consideration the external environment.

The ideal candidate will have the following:
Essential:
- Senior commissioning experience from a broadcaster, whether public service or commercial or SVOD
- Or senior production experience from a broadcaster, streamers, studios and/or independent production company across film, animation and/or television
- Or Senior production / development experience from a VFX company/studio that serves film, television, games and other media.
- Or an adjacent / complementary sector experience with skills as highlighted below
- Leadership or management of an organisation ideally within the film and TV industry or a relevant adjacent sector
- Plus, proven experience on a board as a trustee, NED or in industry body as a council or advisory board member or similar
Other skills and attributes:
- A willingness to devote the time and effort to fulfil the trustee role.

What will you be doing?
West London College is a further education college with three centres located in Ealing, Hammersmith and Southall. For nearly 150 years, we have been providing training and development in the area, helping over 10,000 students achieve their career goals each year. The College has a governing body ('the Corporation') made up principally of governors appointed from outside the College to take legal responsibility for the College and make key decisions about how it is run.
Governors are individuals with broad skills and experience drawn from local communities and businesses, as well as from the public sector. The Board also includes staff members, student governors and the College’s CEO. The CEO (the only executive member on the Board) is responsible for the operational running of Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College (EHWLC).
The Board is advised by a Director of Governance, a professional independent of college management who accesses independent professional advice. The CEO and Board are also supported by a ‘senior leadership team’ with educational, financial and other relevant expertise. The Board, CEO and leadership team work together to set and implement college strategy and to be responsible stewards of the college’s assets.
What are we looking for?
The College has adopted the Education and Training Foundation's competency framework for governors and uses it for recruitment and performance purposes. Prospective governors should be able to evidence the majority of the Leadership and Values/Behaviours below. Developing expertise across the Technical elements will be supported by College staff and through participation in relevant training and development opportunities, for example via the Association of Colleges.
Governors will typically come to the College with a specific area of professional expertise. They need not be experienced in all of the areas highlighted.

The trustees are both strategic and operational, as the charity only has 2 employees (1.5 FTE). Fundraising skills and experience are particularly sought and the trustee will need to be prepared to give about eight hours a week to the work. Communications is also important and needs about four hours a week. HR and IT are both valuable skills but do not have particular time requirements. The HMSA is a small and dynamic charity that helps those living with hypermobility syndromes (and carers and families) to be independent and live well. We also provide education for professionals in social care, health, teaching and local authority employees.
