The Independent Training, delivered in collaboration with IPCAPA at the British Psychotherapy Foundation (bpf) and the Anna Freud Centre/UCL is seeking progress advisors to support 4-5 trainees on the Doctorate in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy training from the start of their training through to completion.

This is an exciting opportunity to guide and support trainees in their development as future child psychotherapists. The successful postholders will liaise with the year 1 tutor, clinical and research tutors, service supervisors and intensive case supervisors. There will be regular team meetings with the year tutor other progress advisors responsible for the year group. Outside of this, working hours are flexible.

We are looking for ACP registered Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists with current CAMHS experience, who have an active interest in working with our year tutor and staff group to support trainees’ progress. The role may suit new career CAPts who wish to develop connections and experience within the field of CAPy training schools. There will be opportunity to take advantage of in house training to become an Intensive Case Supervisor and for additional paid hours of clinical teaching such as practice or clinical seminar groups as appropriate.

About the role

The postholder will provide specialised and tailored advice to clients where either their No Recourse status, or complex benefits issues are acting as barriers to them resolving their homelessness. This will be achieved through one-to-one support sessions, drop in advice sessions and advocacy with external organisations. The Migrant and Welfare Advisor will provide a holistic casework support to clients subject to immigration control who do not have access to public funds. They will use their in-depth knowledge of working with No Recourse clients, to assess and refer to suitable accommodation options, including Asylum Support accommodation, host accommodation and NRPF beds (where available). They will also hold responsibility for assessing care and support needs, making care act assessments (where relevant) and supporting clients to access strength-based opportunities, e.g. cycling workshops or other.

The Migrant and Welfare Advisor will also provide advice to clients with complex benefits issues. This may include challenging DWP decisions (via mandatory reconsiderations and appeals), advising and supporting clients with benefit sanctions and issuing pre-action protocol letters, where appropriate.  

All Passage projects along with their employees are expected to uphold Passage values and work within a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE).

Main Duties

• Working in a psychologically-informed way, you will conduct assessments to identify care and support needs, and to establish the most appropriate accommodation options for destitute clients with no access to benefits.
• Refer into appropriate services providing support to NRPF clients, including applying for Home Office Asylum Support and provide support to the clients in all aspects of their resettlement into either Asylum Support or Host accommodation including applying for Home Office accommodation support (Asylum Support), grants, advocacy and local support agencies.
• Lead on cases initiated by clients themselves, or by other caseworkers, which are complex (for example, advising clients around sanctions) or where clients wish to challenge DWP decisions in relation to Universal Credit/HRT, Housing Benefit, PIP, Pension Credit, Carer’s Allowance or other UK benefits.
• Assess client eligibility for benefits, support clients to understand decisions and advocate for client via mandatory reconsiderations, appeals and reviews where appropriate.
• Issue pre-action protocol letters and referring to external solicitors as appropriate to challenge unlawful or unjust decisions, or unnecessary delays.
• Provide services at the Community Services Centre and occasional in-reach projects at other sites.
• Offer drop-in workshops or advice surgeries on benefits or immigration support issues, in accordance with service need.
• Contribute case studies and quotes to support fundraising proposals and applications for funding.
• Provide accurate and timely information to clients regarding immigration support and benefits advice whilst keeping up to date with changes through training and other opportunities to ensure that this happens.
• Participate in rota system for Community Services reception space, involving engaging with new and current clients, and supporting with ad hoc tasks (e.g. supporting with laundry, replenishing stores of tea and coffee etc.)
• Agree a risk assessment, safety and support plan with every client that is regularly reviewed and monitored.

General Responsibilities

• In conjunction with your Line Manager to continuously develop the role to ensure that all tasks are being undertaken in an effective and appropriate manner which meets the strategic aims and objectives of The Passage.
• To participate in internal/external meetings as required, and attend training events, conferences and other functions as necessary.

You will be the first point of contact for members, fundraisers and supporters, delivering a first-class service across a range of enquiries by phone, email and post.

• Act as the first point of contact for enquiries relating to membership, fundraising, events and other supporter-related matters 
• Provide high-quality supporter care by sharing accurate information, resolving issues effectively and managing enquiries through to completion, ensuring supporters feel informed and valued.  
• Work collaboratively across the organisation and will represent the voice of our supporters, helping to ensure their needs are understood and met. 
• Maintain accurate records on our databases and follow written procedures and policies to ensure the delivery of a consistent, reliable and high-quality service.

This advert is for a full-time, permanent position at 35 hours per week – Monday to Friday (9am-5pm). 

This role is hybrid (London Head Office and home-based), with a minimum of 1 day/week in the office.

About the role 

Our adviser teams work within local areas providing a wide range of expert information and guidance, via a variety of channels including community settings. You’ll provide a personalised service that enables appropriate levels of self-advocacy and/ or advocate on behalf of clients, signposting to other services as relevant.

You’ll empower people affected by Parkinson’s, their families and carers to live lives that are as fulfilling as possible and to take an active role in their treatment becoming their own advocate in health and life, wherever possible.

What you’ll do:

• Provide in depth, person-centred information and guidance to clients by a range of means, including community settings, and ensuring the most efficient and effective use of resources in line with service policy

• Respond to enquiries through a range of channels and areas based on service need, keeping accurate, up to date online client records in line with practice

• Make best use of time in providing an effective client service

• Recognise and respond to potential safeguarding situations using established procedures

• Provide information on a variety of health and social care issues, including appropriate emotional support, employment and welfare benefits guidance and advocating with and on behalf of clients

What you’ll bring:

• Background and/or current experience in health and social care

• Experience of providing health and social care information through a range of channels

• Well-developed telephone skills including active listening and questioning

• Experience of supporting and empowering people with problem solving, navigating the health and social care system and participating in their own care 

• Experience managing a complex caseload effectively and efficiently 

• Demonstrable digital competence, with experience of effective use of a range of tools including online case management systems or similar

• Live in the area covered by the role (London) with the ability to travel and work flexibly

• Live in the area specified - North East London boroughs of Redbridge, Havering, Barking and Dagenham, Waltham Forest and Newham, and be able to travel freely and flexibly around these areas and occasionally further afield without reliance on public transport

The King’s Trust is looking for a passionate and experienced Safeguarding Advisor to join our national Safeguarding Team on a maternity cover basis. This is a vital role where your expertise will help protect and promote the safety and well-being of young people aged 11 to 30, with a particular focus on those aged 18 to 25. Working at the heart of the organisation, you will handle safeguarding referrals, manage cases and work closely with colleagues across the Trust to ensure young people are supported at the right time and in the right way.

You will be a trusted point of contact for a designated region, offering clear, confident advice and building strong relationships with delivery teams and external agencies. Alongside case management, you will contribute to investigations, deliver safeguarding training and play an active role in shaping and improving safe practice across the Trust. This is a varied and impactful role that combines professional judgement, collaboration and a strong commitment to statutory and best practice standards.
