As a member of the wider leadership team, the Director of People & Culture will be responsible for developing a strategy that that delivers on our aspirations for our staff and volunteers, attracting and retaining a diverse and talented workforce and creating an environment that allows everyone who works with us to feel safe and be the best that they can be.  As our most senior People leader in the charity, this is a role that is highly visible at all levels and you will be required to build strong, trusted relationships across the leadership team, our Board and with our staff and volunteers.

About the team

This role will form part of a mental health equity expert team that supports the development and delivery of Mind's strategic ambitions to address inequity within mental health, with a particular focus on our equity priorities: race, poverty, and young people. This team is situated within Mind's Social Impact directorate, which is accountable for innovation, transformation, Information, programmes of work and evaluation. As part of Mind's strategy, we have set out an ambition to address the stark and persistent inequalities in mental health access, experience, and outcomes, with a focus on those most at the margins (our equity priorities - racialised communities, young people, and people experiencing poverty). This strategy requires us to focus our external work on four areas - improving support, changing systems, addressing stigma, and building equitable partnerships.

As Strategic Lead for Adult Mental Health Equity, you'll be responsible for leading our work to address mental health inequalities, with a specific focus on our equity priorities around racialised communities and people experiencing poverty. This will involve the continuous development of our equity strategic plans and ongoing oversight and review of progress against objectives and outcomes. You will work across the organisation and with local Minds and external partners to understand challenges and barriers to adult's mental health and identify opportunities for Mind to address these, e.g. through partnerships and innovation, collaborating with key stakeholders, internally and externally, to develop and mobilise solutions.

Key duties and responsibilities

The post holder will:

-Lead continuous development of Mind's equity strategic plans, particularly focused on racialised communities and people experiencing poverty.

-Work with colleagues across the Mental Health Equity team to deliver the support offer to the local Mind network and assess for good practice, focussed around using the Advancing Mental Health Equalities strategy.

-Lead on the co-ordination & co-design of equity-focused programmes and services at both a local and national level.

-Build and maintain partnerships with relevant external partners, and represent Mind on alliances, collectives and strategic partnerships.

-Act as an internal expert and advisor on mental health equity, informing and shaping decisions to improve access, outcomes and experiences for equity priority audiences.

This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, which you can choose to work over five days or a 9 day fortnight.

Operating within the Management Accounting team, the role holder will act as a Management Accountant for the business area(s) for which they are made responsible. The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment and a mission that matters. We exist to prevent children becoming involved in violence. We do this by funding great initiatives, leading cutting-edge research and working for change - scaling up and spreading the practices that make a difference. 

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) has a critical role in ensuring we succeed in this work. You have a key leadership role in overseeing the overall health of the Fund in partnership with the Executive Director. The role oversees our finances, people management and – for the right candidate –much of our grant-making and project management.

You’ll lead on key organisational governance processes and ensure the Fund makes wise decisions, by:

Harm towards children and young people is a global issue, and can include physical and emotional abuse, neglect and exploitation, sexual abuse and other forms of gender-based violence. We recognise that the impact of experiencing such harm has significant and long-term consequences that can create barriers to an individual reaching their full potential.

This is an exciting opportunity to support a global network of up to 40 partners in strengthening and developing their safeguarding practices and embed our global framework, supporting KTI and our partner organisations to meet institutional contractual requirements.

In this key role, you will lead and implement the safeguarding strategy, working closely with the Director of Delivery and Impact and with the Senior Leadership Team providing advice and updates regarding safeguarding and risk management to our Board, various committees, and teams. You will work closely across functions but particularly within the programmes team, supporting the safer programming of our young people across 20 countries via a network of in-country delivery partners. This year we are launching our Partner Portal which will include safeguarding training and development in addition to the partner training already provided, your knowledge will be crucial as you work closely with our Digital and Design and Impact teams in the development and implementation of this training.

About you

You will have extensive experience of supporting organisations to deliver safe and impactful programmes, having developed the systems process and frameworks to support this. You will be a strong communicator with the ability to adapt your communication style to diverse audiences both in the UK and internationally, with the ability to produce and deliver engaging and culturally relevant training. A team player, you will work well across teams with a proactive and solutions focused attitude. JOB PURPOSE

The Head of Finance will lead a small, established finance team and will need to drive a successful business partnership approach with teams across the organisation, achieving greater efficiency both in ways of working and in purchasing and in investigating how our systems and technology can best meet our operational needs. This role is pivotal in the charity, and a great opportunity for an exceptional finance professional to contribute to the continuous improvement of the charity, finance function and team. You will take day to day responsibility for financial accounting, the provision of management information and will actively manage financial planning and forecasting. You will also input into strategy on a functional and organisational level. 

A track record in successful business partnering is essential as we develop and refine our business model. Previous experience in a management information function, either within the not-for-profit sector or a similar sized commercial organisation, is needed. You will need to liaise closely with non-finance staff to ensure financial information is made meaningful and accessible and to support training to enable them to interpret the information provided and manage their budgets. Good communication skills and the ability to explain complex information to staff at varying levels are therefore essential as is the ability to provide leadership and motivate staff.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a diverse role across the full spectrum of the finance function, with the post holder responsible for the timely provision of management information as well as leading the Finance Team in delivering a full financial accounting and statutory reporting service to ensure UK for UNHCR is compliant with all financial regulation. Central to the role is the critical review and the effective communication of financial information and its implications to all levels of management while also delivering a high quality, customer focused finance partnering service to senior managers and SMT. 

Key accountabilities:

• Oversee the provision of clear, accurate, timely and user friendly (financial and non-financial) management information to Directors, senior managers and staff to support the decision-making process and to allow managers to proactively manage their budgets.
• Take full management responsibility for the Finance Manager and Finance and Administration Assistant, leading, motivating and developing them so that that they are clearly focused, competent, and work effectively and efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and prepare statutory accounts, corporation tax, Gift Aid, VAT, Charity Commission and other statutory financial returns for the charity and its trading subsidiary as appropriate. 
• Manage the annual audit process, being the point of contact for external auditors on operational matters relating to the audit process and providing information and documentation supporting the annual report and accounts.
• Develop and maintain various business and financial planning processes in support of the strategic needs of the organisation. This includes:

1. Annual budgeting process.
2. Overseeing financial reforecasts at regular (currently quarterly) intervals.
3. Playing an active role in the broader business planning process.
4. Planning and managing cash flows to meet the short and long-term needs of the organisation, maximising interest receivable where opportunities allow. 

• Drive financial ownership, accountability and understanding across the organisation by ensuring budget owners have the knowledge, skills and tools to manage their budgets effectively. Ensure effective financial business partnering is underpinned by effective processes and guidance.
• Provide support to all teams and in particular the fundraising teams in the completion of funding applications and, following successful bids, ensuring appropriate processes are in place to monitor and report progress of Restricted Funding projects.
• Recommend an appropriate reporting process and format for restricted projects to enable their effective management by budget holders and for inclusion in management accounts reporting.
• Ensure the internal financial control environment is adequate to safeguard the Charity’s assets and is properly documented, and liaise as needed with external professional advisors, such as auditors and our bankers.
• Ensure premises and facilities are managed appropriately on a day-to-day basis, line managing the Finance and Administration Assistant, and taking the lead in matters relating to property leases.
• Develop own knowledge base and keep abreast of changes in the regulatory and financial environment, as well as new initiatives and best practice in the sector to ensure the charity’s policies and processes are fit for purpose and adapt as UK for UNHCR evolves. 
• Support the Senior Management Team in other work as may be required from time to time and, as time allows, engage in the broader work of the charity to ensure the post holder has a recognisable profile as the leader of a key team and has an understanding of the work we do.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE 

Knowledge: 

• A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) with significant post qualification finance experience at a senior level.

Skills:

• Track record of success at a senior level within an organisation of comparable size and complexity, including hands on experience in delivering a bespoke finance service.
• Proven ability to communicate successfully with different stakeholders, both written and verbal, and including the ability to influence and negotiate.
• Ability to critically review, analyse and interpret complex financial and management information and present it clearly and appropriately to different audiences.
• Comfortable in dealing with detail as required given the constraints of working in a small team.
• Confident with a range of IT software, including hands on experience in managing, using and configuring accounting packages.
• Experience of software implementation, and ideally of accounting systems.
• Strong leadership skills including the ability to motivate and develop staff members.
• Knowledge of the legislative, tax and regulatory framework of companies, ideally in the not-for-profit sector.
• Track record in successful project management.
• Ability to identify, assess and manage risks and make recommendations based on objective criteria.
• Team player able to establish productive working relationships with both colleagues and externally.

• Relevant post-qualification experience, to include managing a finance team.

The team provides technical advisory expertise and fosters and supports internal and external programme and technical partnerships and networks. The team also leads on developing normative programme documents and standards and advise and support the delivery of a programme capacity enhancement strategy. PSK collaborates with many functions across the organisation including policy, advocacy, campaigns, fundraising, communications, as well as with WaterAid partners and collaborators.

About the Role:
The Climate and Environment Lead is a leadership position in the WASH Technical Effectiveness team, reporting to the head of the team. The Climate and Environment Lead is accountable for the strategic development and effective delivery of the core team responsibilities on climate resilience and environmental sustainability for high quality WASH programming in both urban and rural, low-income settings, incorporating WaterAid's and the sector's leading practices, innovations and methods.

Applying a people-centred, systems strengthening approach to WASH, she/he leads the provision of high quality specialist technical analysis, advisory, and support services to the design, inception, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and/or assessments of WaterAid's programming worldwide, at both strategic and operational levels.

In collaboration with country, regional and global colleagues, she/he leads the facilitation of effective learning and management of technical and programme knowledge across the organisation, and leads the development of relevant standards and guidance. She/he also provides high quality strategic and technical input to fundraising, communications, and external engagements.

The Climate and Environment Lead has substantial autonomy in determining what the technical objectives are and how they are delivered and achieved. She/he is held account for the integrity and effective delivery of the technical advice and services. About You:

• Substantial technical experience in climate science, climate adaptation, resilience, environmental sustainability, environmental impact assessment and/or other inter-related topics across different settings, demonstrated through a progressive career record.
• Strong technical experience in systems strengthening, sustainable development, water, sanitation, health, hygiene, behaviour change, gender, inclusion, and/or other WASH-related topics.
• A relevant post-Graduate degree or equivalent work experience.
• Proven ability in leadership and strategic thinking.
• Substantial experience and success in offering technical assistance, consulting, and/or advisory services to empower and to develop capacities.
• Strong ability to handle highly specialized, unusual, and challenging technical assignments, resolve complex issues in practical and imaginative ways.

Acting as a strategic people partner for Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation, this role will drive people management initiatives, support the Foundation Strategy and the delivery of a strategic plan to achieve this. The role will have a designated internal client base to directly partner and will support the Foundation in promoting its corporate values and shaping a positive culture.

This role will establish consistency of practice with all Foundation People Business Partners and ensure delivery of a cost effective, customer-focussed service whilst continually striving for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Partnering

· Develop a thorough understanding of the Foundation and the business area where you are providing support in order to provide a full people partnering service.

· Translate People strategy and agreed deliverables for your designated business areas into achievable plans and a prioritised implementation map.

· Establish effective relationships with business leads to enable you to provide valued interventions and insights on people management strategies.

· Advise directorate managers on managing people effectively including treating people fairly and professionally to ensure employee engagement and the delivery of Foundation objectives.

· Work with directorate leads to identify skills and capabilities they need to deliver current and future work, liaising with the Talent Management Hub (Learning & Development and Talent Acquisition) to manage the resourcing and talent processes.

· Partner with business area leads to develop learning and development plans for your designated directorate, and liaise with the Learning & Development Manager to identify gaps in levels of capability.

· Work with the Head of Learning & Development to introduce talent mapping initiatives and ensure that leaders and managers within designated directorates are equipped with the skills and confidence to manage effectively.

· In liaison with the People Advisor, provide regular key people metrics with analysis, narrative and ideas to encourage your designated business leads/managers to seek continuous improvements and regular review of individual and team delivery.

· Work with, and bring in, specialists across the People & Culture directorate (e.g., Learning & Development, Talent Acquisition, DEI) to respond to planned and emerging people and business objectives.

Advise, manage, and support

· Develop and maintain all Foundation policies, procedures, processes and forms required to deliver a People service capable of ensuring that the Foundation discharges its duties efficiently and effectively.

· Ensure legal compliance of all People processes and procedures, enabling best practice to be attained in providing guidance to managers and employees, and safeguarding the Foundation’s reputation in the execution of its duties.

· Ensure up to date knowledge of all employment policies and procedures and provide advice and input as required.

· Act as a point of contact for employees to discuss confidential matters or grievances.

· Partner with line managers to provide advice on employee issues, coach managers on how to manage people and resolve employee issues including via the grievance and disciplinary processes.

· Stay current on industry trends, employment law and best practice to provide guidance to managers and staff on all People, legal and compliance issues.

· Foster a positive working environment for all people working at the Foundation.

· Process monthly payroll promptly and accurately with supervision from the Senior People Business Partner.

· Contribute to the Foundation’s strategic approach to diversity equity and inclusion (DEI) and work to actively embed practices which promote DEI across the Foundation’s approach to its workforce and people processes.

· Act as a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) champion, representing the directorate and liaising with employee networks on People related issues, policies and procedures.

Performance management

· Partner with directorate leads to drive appropriate and timely performance management and improve performance delivery.

· Manage individual review cycles for your designated directorate, sending reminders to managers when reviews are due and signposting staff and Line Managers to further support and guidance.

· Coach managers on the use of PDPs.

· Promote mandatory eLearning and ensure it is undertaken within prescribed timescales.

· Working with the People Advisor and business leads provide oversight of the 360 feedback surveys for end of year reviews for your directorate.

Employee Engagement and Organisational Development

· Take on/lead any other projects as requested by the Head of People & Culture or Chief People Officer

· Nurture a positive working environment by embedding the company culture and values in the implementation of all people related initiatives.

· Provide mentorship to junior colleagues in the People & Culture directorate and play a key role in their development.

• HR Generalist experience across a broad range of HR functions and employee lifecycle, and best practice for those.

• Managing employee relations and related processes.

• The ability to analyse and report on HR information and data.

• Experience of working in a fast-paced environment and manging multiple concurrent workstreams.

• Implementing and supporting change management with experience of TUPE/mergers.

Chief Executive – full-time, permanent, London (flexible/hybrid)

The Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST) is seeking a new Chief Executive to lead the organisation through the next phase of its growth and development. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for a highly experienced and energetic senior player to lead a small executive team, along with many highly dedicated and capable Institute members, as we embark on a number of key development projects which will continue to grow our charitable activities and influence in the food sector. The role is a key point of contact and ambassador for the Institute with many senior and influential stakeholders within the food sector and governments.

We are looking for a strong strategic and conceptual thinker, experienced in business and financial management, who can communicate with and influence people at all levels. The role leads a small team and will have significant hands-on involvement in day to day operational matters.

The individual will have attained a BSc or equivalent level, and have demonstrable experience in leadership and people management. They will have a broad understanding of the food (or associated) sector (and preferably experience working in the sector). Ideally, the individual will already have experience managing or running a charity, and so will have a practical understanding of charity governance best practice. 

With multiple activities from publishing through to professional recognition and from scientific and technical events and communication through to supporting the next generation of talent, the Institute is looking for a leader who can work creatively and yet in a focussed way to ensure all these activities are progressed.

Ideally, they will have previously worked for a professional membership body and are likely to have experience in the food sector.

About the role:

• Full-time, permanent. London-based (Hammersmith) with flexible working – the individual will be required to attend regular physical meetings, often in London, but with some other meetings in the UK. This role may also include some international travel. Salary: On application. No agencies.
