The Role

As an Early Years Advisor, you will develop products, services and training materials, and respond to sector needs. You will be responsible for the high-quality development of products and services in line with the mission to promote quality in early years.

You will work collaboratively with other Early Years Advisors and managers to support the development of products and services for UK and international customers. 

Responsibilities include:

• Under the guidance of line manager and the Early Years Development Manager, work with other Early Years Advisors to support the development of high-quality products and services
• Edit and proof-read documents for relevant research-based content and accuracy, following the organisation’s style guides
• Provide advice to members as requested relating to the childcare sector
• Maintain practical experiences within a childcare setting
• Maintain up to date professional knowledge and skills within area of responsibility and the early years sector
• Attend meetings as required (virtual and face to face)
• Achieve own annual KPIs and assist in the achievement of organisational objectives
• Report progress to management.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

• Educated to degree level or equivalent in early years
• Significant and recent demonstrable experience in leading practice as an early years professional or teacher
• Development and review of training and resources to improve early years practice
• Effective time management
• Using sound research-based evidence to develop written material
• Delivery against targets and deadlines
• Strong customer service or related experience
• Multi-agency partnership working 
• Expertise in early years SEND would be advantageous but not mandatory.

Outreach Adviser - Croft Woodlands (Uist & Barra)

The Woodland Trust is looking for an Outreach Adviser - Croft Woodlands (Uist & Barra) to join our Scotland Outreach Team. The Croft Woodland initiative is a partnership initiative between Woodland Trust Scotland (WTS), Point & Sandwick Trust (P&ST), Scottish Crofting Federation, Scottish Forestry, Coigach & Assynt Living Landscapes, the Woodland Croft Partnership, Shetland Amenity Trust and Orkney Woodlands Project. The aim of the project is to engage crofters in woodland creation and management on their holdings to deliver multiple benefits in terms of biodiversity, agricultural diversification, landscape and environment. 

A company vehicle will be provided for this role. Please note that out Company Vehicle Policy is also under review as part of our Job Families and Contract Review project, so the eligibility criteria therein are subject to change in due course.

The Role:

• Provide expert advice and ongoing support to crofters, grazing committees and land managers on woodland creation and management projects.
• Lead the development and delivery of Forestry Grant Scheme applications, coordinating consultants or preparing proposals in-house.
• Plan and implement Croft Woodlands MOREwoods schemes, ensuring successful project delivery.
• Create and maintain accurate GIS mapping and ensure robust due diligence, including regulatory compliance and “right tree, right place” principles.
• Organise and deliver training programmes, facilitating knowledge sharing across individuals, communities and stakeholders.
• Work closely with Point and Sandwick Trust through regular liaison and updates.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with land managers, partners, regulators and local organisations to promote woodland initiatives.
• Manage project delivery end-to-end, including budgets, timelines, contractors and consultants, ensuring targets are met.
• Complete all project administration and reporting, contribute to stakeholder engagement, and support innovative approaches to increase participation and impact.
• This is a homebased role, requiring regular travel to locations within the Uist and Barra landscape and wider Western Isles, sometimes to remote locations. You would be expected to live within the Western Isles or reasonable travelling distance of your area of responsibility. Occasional travel to regional offices and overnight stays will be required.

The Candidate:

• Previous experience in developing and delivering woodland creation projects, particularly for small-scale projects.
• Experience of developing woodland management plans is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with and advise crofters, communities, schools and woodland owners.
• Experience managing and working effectively with contractors, consultants and external partners.
• Strong technical capability in digital mapping and GIS systems.
• Good working knowledge of woodland and croft grant schemes and funding mechanisms is desirable.
• Understanding of the crofting context in Scotland, particularly in the Western Isles, with Gaelic language/cultural awareness desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence to represent the organisation professionally and positively.
• Highly organised, self-motivated and flexible, with the ability to manage workload independently, collaborate across dispersed teams, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
• A full driving licence and ability to travel across a wide area to undertake site visits and meetings, sometimes to remote locations. Overnight stays will be required from time to time.

We are looking for a warm, thoughtful and organised Dementia Adviser to join our supportive team in Sefton area working 35 hours per week on a permanent basis.

This is a community-based role involving regular travel across the area including local home visits, meetings, and direct support, with the flexibility to work from home based on business and community needs.

You will work closely with people living with dementia and those who care about them, providing ongoing support. You will listen carefully, understand what matters most to each person and offer guidance that helps them feel steadier and more confident as their situation changes.

Your days will be varied and meaningful. You might be visiting someone at home, offering calm reassurance over the phone, or working closely with other professionals to make sure the right support is in place. We operate a triage system for new referrals and you will play your part in making sure people are responded to quickly and thoughtfully. You will manage your own caseload, keeping clear and accurate records, while always seeing the person behind the paperwork.

You will be part of a caring and dynamic local team who share ideas, reflect together and support one another. There will be time to meet as a team and opportunities to keep growing your knowledge of dementia, with your manager and colleagues alongside you.

About you
You will have:

- An understanding of dementia, or a willingness to learn about the experiences of people living with dementia and those who care for them.
- Experience providing information, guidance, advice or emotional support - this could be from health, social care, community, voluntary, customer service or other people focused roles.
- You will be able to listen and communicate, with the ability to build trust and rapport with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
- The ability to manage your workload effectively, with appropriate support and tools, and to balance competing priorities.
- Confidence using IT systems to maintain accurate and confidential records.
- A compassionate, non-judgemental and person-centred approach, with respect for diversity and individual lived experiences.
- The ability to travel independently.
- The confidence and ability to communicate with a wide range of people, adapting your approach to ensure understanding. You will be required to speak publicly at events about dementia, delivering information and signposting people to further resources and networks.

About the Role

Your key responsibilities will include: 

• Complex Case Support (40% of the role’s time). The postholder will help our Referrals Officer to assess the suitability of complex referrals and cases. 

• Clinical Advice and Legislative Guidance (30% of the role’s time). The postholder will review our current guidance to ensure we are following best practice.

• Volunteer Support and Continuous Improvement (30% of the role’s time). The postholder will offer adhoc advice to our volunteers to ensure they are supported and following best practice.

1. At least 6 months’ experience of providing welfare benefits advice and support in an advice setting, including ben checks, calculations, resolution of welfare benefits issues

3. Ability to monitor and maintain own standards.

4. Ability to interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills to get to the root of the issues and empower clients, whilst maintaining structure and control of meetings.

5. Understanding of the issues affecting society and their implications for clients and service provision.

6. A good knowledge of the social model of health and how link worker services can support wellbeing and reduce health inequalities.

7. Ability to use IT systems and packages, and electronic resources in the provision of advice, record keeping and document production.

9. A clear understanding of the requirements of a target based workload

10. A commitment to continuous professional development, including a willingness to develop knowledge and skills in advice topics.

11. Ability to research, analyse and interpret complex information and produce and present clear reports verbally and in writing.

The successful candidate will have a ‘mobile office’ made up of pc, information systems and promotional materials and despite having a regular geographical location, will be expected to respond attend outreaches across the city if necessary.

We are seeking a People Advisor to join their collaborative and values-driven People team, playing a key role in supporting colleagues and managers across the organisation.

This is a flexible opportunity that can be offered on either a part-time or full-time basis (28–35 hours per week), and the organisation is open to discussing working patterns that suit the successful candidate. The role is predominantly home-based, with monthly team meetings in Central London and occasional travel to the charity’s centres across Central London to support colleagues and operational needs.

The position is a highly generalist HR role with broad exposure across the full employee lifecycle. The successful candidate will provide expert advice and guidance to managers and staff, support recruitment and onboarding, manage employee relations cases, oversee probation and contractual changes, maintain accurate HR records and reporting, contribute to learning and development initiatives, support payroll administration, and help ensure policies and procedures remain compliant and effective. Working closely with the Director of People, the postholder will also have the opportunity to contribute to wider People projects across areas such as engagement, wellbeing, inclusion, reward, and organisational development.

We are looking for an approachable and proactive HR professional with strong generalist HR experience and a good understanding of UK employment law, policies and procedures, and HR best practice. You will be confident managing a varied workload, handling employee relations matters, building positive relationships with managers and colleagues, and working both independently and collaboratively. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential, as is a genuine commitment to supporting people and helping create an inclusive, positive workplace culture. Experience within the charity or wider not-for-profit sector would be welcomed, although candidates from other sectors with relevant HR advisory experience are also encouraged to apply.

About the IRM

The Independent Review Mechanism for England (IRM) provides, on behalf of the Secretary of State for Education, review panels for potential and current foster carers and adopters when agencies have decided not to approve them as a foster carer or adopter, or to terminate or change the terms of their approval.

As an IRM Medical Advisor you will be providing written medical advice to caseworkers, panel members and the Contract Manager about individual applicant and their suitability to foster/adopt as well as ad hoc advice on occasions.

Usually, the need for a medical advisor’s report is requested either after:

• Health issues are identified which have been a primary concern for the agency and given as reasons in the qualifying determination letter
• The agency documents indicate health issues have been identified which may affect a person’s suitability to foster or adopt but this has not been initially noted as a primary concern for the agency
• During the course of preparing for an IRM panel, the applicant/s have a medical emergency which then needs to be considered alongside other concerns regarding suitability
• A request for information which may relate to a specific condition or general information, not related directly to the applicant/s
