We’re looking for a Participation Officer to ensure that the voices of children and young people living with HIV are at the heart of Chiva’s work.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about youth empowerment, skilled in participation practice, and confident working with diverse groups of young people.

• Support and develop the Chiva Youth Committee (CYC) to shape our charity’s direction and decisions.
• Organise CYC events, campaigns, and support their delivery of the annual Chiva conference CYC led symposium.
• Seek opportunities for young people to influence policy, practice, and raise public awareness.
• Build strong relationships with health professionals, policy makers, and international youth networks.

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. In 2024 we embarked on our new 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

Location: The role is primarily based at Crisis Skylight Brent (1-2 Bank Buildings, High St, NW10 4LT). This role will include some outreach and there is an expectation to travel across the wider Harlesden area and other parts of Brent to support individuals and meet relevant support agencies.

About the role

This is an exciting new role in Crisis to deliver upstream prevention in partnership with Brent Council in Harlesden by supporting a newly set up Neighbourhood Team and contribute towards its key aims of preventing homelessness and income insecurity as part of Crisis and Brent Council’s place-based approach.

You will:

• Be a first point of contact for people in Harlesden who are at risk of homelessness, who are also likely living with debt / income insecurity and who may not have engaged with services or who fall outside homeless services’ criteria or statutory level support and who could benefit from holistic earlier support.

• Through high quality, person-centred IAG, coaching, advocacy, casework and a range of relational methods you will enable local people in Harlesden to resolve issues themselves, access services or be linked to the integrated neighbourhood team to help to address to address barriers and seek solutions.

• Reach out to people in the community, listen carefully to their story as you work with them to agree options and possibilities, and identify a range of solutions to support their goals, improving income security and preventing possible future homelessness.

• As lead worker create person centred support for an individual, to build collaborative, consistent and Psychologically Informed relationships with individuals and stakeholders from a range of services within and outside the integrated neighbourhood team.

About you

• You have worked within a relevant sector that supports people e.g., homelessness, mental health, drug and alcohol treatment, social care, education and skills, youth work, community development

• You can demonstrate awareness of barriers to engagement and participation experienced by people facing homelessness or a future risk of homelessness and other forms of social exclusion with an understanding of how they might be overcome.

• You have experience of assessing presenting needs, and an understanding of strengths-based assessments and action planning. Empathy and understanding of the barriers to accessing services and support faced by homeless people including mental health issues, and awareness of ways to over-coming them, including planning and reviewing actions and goals, meeting client needs and priorities.

• You work collaboratively with the ability to build and manage successful relationships with external agencies and relevant service providers and successfully advocate on behalf of clients and strong interpersonal skills.

• You have experience of delivering high quality information, advice and guidance or coaching and managing a caseload within a relevant sector, holding a Level 3 Information, Advice and Guidance or coaching qualification or be willing to work towards one.

• You are able to effectively manage own workload, including a varied caseload, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities, exercise judgment under pressure and balance competing demands and willingness to reflect upon and develop own practice.

• You are a strong team player and ability to work on own initiative and seek support and advice where appropriate

• You can demonstrate knowledge of safeguarding and commitment to act in compliance with safeguarding policy and procedures
• You will demonstrate commitment to Crisis’ purpose and values, alongside Brent Council’s values .

Responsible Finance is the membership association for the UK’s Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFIs). CDFIs are community lenders, committed to delivering positive social impact, and offer fair and affordable finance to businesses, social enterprises and to people unable to access it elsewhere.

This is a pivotal moment to be joining the CDFI sector. Responsible Finance and CDFIs are poised for exciting growth following two record-breaking funding announcements in late 2024 which has seen the sector backed by Government and leading financial institutions including the British Business Bank and JPMorgan Chase. This follows Lloyds Banking Group becoming the first mainstream lender to invest in the CDFI sector earlier in the year.

This new funding will enable business-lending CDFIs to scale their reach and impact, supporting economic growth and financial inclusion across the UK. Successful candidates will play a vital role in helping to make sure that CDFIs are supported to build their operational capacity and maximise the opportunity this brings.

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to help us to deliver an ambitious Capacity Building programme for our business-lending CDFIs and support our wider and growing member base. You will support Programme Managers to effectively deliver key projects within both the Capacity Building programme and more broadly support our small team to deliver outstanding service to CDFIs across the personal, micro, business and social enterprise lending sectors. The role requires some working with our members and stakeholders and strong levels of versatility and flexibility to deliver outstanding results.

No prior knowledge about CDFIs is required so long as you have a keen interest to learn about the sector and are passionate about increasing access to fair finance for businesses, underserved communities and people.

The Role

The Project Support Officer will assist in the delivery of key projects and support the Programme Director and Programme Managers in ensuring the smooth running of a Programme Management Office (PMO) at Responsible Finance.

The role holder will support the timely and quality delivery of projects and programmes, including playing a key role in producing timely information and reports, and ensuring the smooth running of programme meetings and boards.

Just as importantly the role-holder will also support the wider Responsible Finance team to deliver key projects and ongoing support to our members and provide high quality administrative support where required.

The role-holder will also be responsible for ensuring that Responsible Finance’s onboarding process is followed for all new CDFIs, to ensure that they receive high quality and timely support at the start of their membership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting aspects of Responsible Finance’s communications activity including generating content for and distributing the member newsletter, as well as supporting the effective delivery of events and website updates.
• Ensuring the smooth running of an important and high-profile bank referral pilot project, monitoring email referrals and data entry with a high level of attention to detail, accuracy and timelines.
• Assisting in the delivery of key work streams and projects, including the monitoring and reporting of grants to support capacity building.
• Supporting Programme Managers to monitor project progress, produce and maintain high-quality project documentation (plans, risk and issues registers, etc.) to support effective delivery.
• Supporting the effective and smooth running of project and programme meetings across Responsible Finance, including schedule and arranging, developing documentation, and effective minute taking.
• Supporting aspects of Responsible Finance’s operational and policy function including; record keeping updating of the CRM system, and, assisting with the collection, analysis and presentation of data from multiple sources as required. Skills and Experience:

Essential:

• Strong and proven experience as a project support officer/co-ordinator providing high quality support across multiple projects at once.
• Experience in the generation and updating of online content using tools such as WordPress, Canva, SurveyMonkey etc to develop high quality web and social media content.
• Strong all-round administrative support skills, fluent with standard Office applications such as Word, Excel, Teams with an ability to quickly learn new technologies and applications.
• Able to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills including concise writing skills and ability to synthesise information into an easy to comprehend format/narrative (both written and verbal).

The Senior Fundraiser for Trusts and Foundations will be our lead fundraiser, drawing in support and expertise from across the team. We are a highly impactful organisation that is often looked to for our insight in the sector. The Senior Fundraiser for Trusts and Foundations is required to lead a wide range of activities. You will be expected to manage your own time, prioritising tasks and leading a small team of people who contribute to CARAS’ fundraising. You will inherit excellent systems and skilled, supportive and enthusiastic team players. You will work closely with the CEO, and the senior leadership team which draws together Heads of Service from each of our programme areas. You will collaborate with our Finance Manager to ensure smooth management of grants and donations and will play a key role in budget setting with the Finance Manager and CEO. 

The role demands cross-departmental working, and regular contact with community members to enhance your ability to advocate for them. You will be at the forefront of developing new ideas and approaches, ensuring that teams have the money and resources to have an impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

Fundraising 

• Line-manage our Fundraising Officer and work together to generate income to meet CARAS’s budgetary targets through trusts and foundations, individual giving, community fundraising and other means at our disposal. 

• Develop and deliver a fundraising strategy which synchronises with the CARAS Strategic Plan.

• Research and maintain a real-time pipeline of fundraising opportunities and oversee delivery. Lead or allocate all income generation opportunities in good time so that appropriate co-design and decision-making processes are behind applications. 

• Maintain up-to-date records on potential and active funders in CARAS’s database. 

• Ensure compliance with best practice in fundraising including use of data and confidentiality.

The Organisation

Action on Disability (AoD), founded in 1979, is one of London’s leading Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisations. The organisation is a medium sized charity with a Board of Trustees (at least 75% is Disabled trustees), 20 staff and a strong ad hoc staff and volunteer base including many with direct experience of Disability - all of whom are passionate about removing the barriers that Disabled people face.

AoD provides five key services. These are: Youth, Employment, Welfare Benefits, Independent Living and Advocacy.

AoD’s Independent Living Service
The Independent Living Service (Direct Payments) is a new service that will provide support to Direct Payment users within the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. The service will enable Disabled people to have genuine choice and control over the way in which they lead their lives. The post-holder will be working alongside disabled people to enable them to have more choice and control over their care and support needs.

The Role

In this role you will be providing essential information, advice and support to individuals from diverse backgrounds. You will work with Disabled clients to empower them to take control of the support they need by using Direct Payments, employing their own staff and accessing activities or services. You will ensure that individuals have the right information to make informed choices and will help them to set up and manage their chosen support.

You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and IT skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Experience of budgeting and recruitment are essential for this role.

Experience of working in social care is not essential as training will be provided, however a “can-do” attitude, a commitment to a person-centred approach and a willingness to learn is a must. Being part of a small team, there is a lot of opportunity for you to develop and learn new skills.

The work is varied and calls upon a wide range of skills, and there is huge job satisfaction in supporting people to achieve greater wellbeing and independence.

Job description and person specification

This is an exciting and varied role that encompasses all aspects of our fundraising activity and will support the development of relationships with our individual donors, Trusts and Foundations, Corporate Partners, and Community/Faith Groups. Our ideal candidate will have experience of working in a charity or other related organisation, in a fundraising and / or marketing team, and will bring relevant, transferable experience to apply to this role. You will work closely with the fundraising team to research, steward, and help secure funding and on your own initiative. Your work will play a key role in enabling our mission to help unlock lasting freedom among women who have survived trafficking, exploitation and other forms of violence.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development of our individual giving programme including the planning and delivery of fundraising appeals and campaigns.
• Ensure donations are promptly acknowledged and recorded on our fundraising database, Donorfy.
• Lead the development of our use of Donorfy to record and report on our fundraising data, and manage donor relationships.
• Support the planning and delivery of key fundraising events including our annual Gala fundraising event.
• Conduct periodic and ad hoc prospect research on previous and prospective funders and identify new funding opportunities under the supervision of the Trusts and Foundations Grants lead.
• Support the Trusts and Foundations Grants lead to maintain a calendar of deadlines and reporting requirements
• Coordinate periodic mail outs to Trusts and Foundations in the small/general category.
• Support the cultivation and stewardship of corporate supporters under the direction of the Head of Fundraising.
• Assist with developing corporate partnership proposals, and other communications including periodic newsletters and social
• Help coordinate volunteer opportunities for our corporate partners
• Provide general admin support for corporate partners and corporate enquiries.
• Build relationships with local community and faith-based groups, providing support and materials for community-led fundraising activities.
• Represent the organisation at relevant events or meetings, when appropriate
• Contribute to team planning, reporting, and income forecasting
• Note take at team meetings and chase actions.
