Challenge Works is looking for a Programme Coordinator to join its growing team and work across several of its programmes. This role will be key to support the development and delivery of challenge prizes across a broad range of social and technology themes including: disruptive tech, environment, international development, global health and government innovation.
Our projects are usually complex with a high public profile, they have significant impact on the lives of many thousands of people, and involve working with an exciting mix of tech entrepreneurs, civil society organisations (not for profits and public interest organisations) and government bodies
We have launched prizes that include improving outcomes for Nepalese farmers, improving access to energy for refugees and the £10m Longitude Prize for antimicrobial resistance. Some of our current prizes include the EU Social Innovation Competition, the Toyota Mobility Unlimited Challenge and prizes aimed at using tech to reduce social isolation, improving access to justice and giving people control over their financial data in order to access innovative products tailored to them.
Job purpose
We are looking for a Programme Coordinator to support all aspects in the delivery of Challenge Works programmes. An enthusiastic team player with a knack for problem solving. Someone who is able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, moving effortlessly from day-to-day management to supporting the team on planning and strategy. The ideal candidate will have some programme assistant experience, including experience of developing, maintaining and revising systems, budget and financial monitoring, relationship management, communications and management of social media channels.
The Role
Programme Coordination
- Work closely with Programme Managers to enable smooth day-to-day programme execution.
- Monitoring of milestones, evaluation and finance to keep check of project budgets and deadlines. Flagging action points to the Programme Manager when necessary.
- Develop, maintain and revise (as necessary) systems that will underpin the delivery of the prizes.
- Carry out procurement activities end-to-end, including development of contracts, legal documents and CRM
- Development of key documents relating to the delivery of the prizes.
- Manage internal and external meetings, including developing agendas and writing minutes.
Stakeholder Management & Teamwork
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of the prizes.
- Day-to-day management of external relationships, from stakeholder networks to high-profile individuals and prize entrants.
Communications & Events
- Help support communications activities of various challenge prizes, for example, managing monthly newsletters, social media and updating websites.
- Help create opportunities for public engagement activities.
- Help to create events, workshops and to deliver them to a high standard.
- Work with diverse Nesta departments including financial, legal, and communications.
- Take on ad-hoc projects and tasks to support the team and its prizes as necessary.
- Occasional International travel and out of hours work.

What we offer

We are looking for a Day Service Co-ordinator to join our art studio team and support people living with brain injury in our day centre in Haggerston.
You will take responsibility for organising and delivering activities in the Submit to Love art studio, such as supporting members in creating new artworks, planning and delivering events and outings, and engaging members in a variety of other activities in response to their needs and interests.

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including comprehensive individual risk assessments.
Day Service co-ordination:
- Work closely with colleagues and volunteers in the day service and other teams at Headway East London to create a welcoming, supportive, and stimulating environment for members.
- Share responsibility for practical tasks in the day service to ensure its smooth running.

Purpose of the position
We’re looking for an experienced prospect researcher with strong analytical skills and an excellent knowledge of the global philanthropic space to join our Private Sector Fundraising team. You will be joining a growing major gifts programme with ambitious goals and a strong new business focus.
You will have prospect research experience in a global health, scientific or medical non-profit setting, and the ability to move comfortably between the worlds of research and philanthropy and to identify opportunities beyond the obvious.

Earthsight is looking for an experienced campaigner to lead our policy and comms work delivering impactful analyses and advocacy on the impacts of Western consumption on the world’s forests, native biomes and local communities.
Earthsight is a non-profit organisation dedicated to researching and investigating environmental and social crime and injustice. We use cutting-edge investigative methods to uncover and expose wrongdoing. Since emerging as a fully-fledged organisation in 2016, our reports have garnered headlines, won awards and triggered major changes by governments and corporations.
We seek to create positive change by influencing government policy, uncovering greenwash and raising awareness among key constituencies about the impacts of global supply chains on the world’s forests and forest communities.
Most global deforestation is driven by industrial production of a handful of major commodities, including beef, soy, palm oil and wood. A large chunk of this production is to meet demand in Western consumer markets. Over the past few years, Earthsight has played a key role in highlighting the complicity of corporations and consumers in the EU, UK and US in the destruction of forests overseas, as well as the abuses of local people which accompany that destruction. As part of a global coalition, we have succeeded in getting laws passed or under development in all those jurisdictions which aim to clean up these supply chains. Now we need to ensure those laws are effectively enforced.
This role will be key to that. As part of a small team, you will help design and coordinate implementation of our policy strategy and outputs. You will represent the organisation in meetings with policymakers, government authorities and civil society, as well as help draft and disseminate policy briefings and other advocacy material. You will also oversee our comms work.

The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist, lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community, empowering individuals to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives.
We provide confidential, personalised support to the whole of the fire services community, whether that’s at our centres, over the phone, online or out in communities.
The Role
Our Practitioner Led Assessment Service is the entry point for our beneficiaries seeking support from the Charity. Our Assessment Practitioners work in partnership with our beneficiaries to identify goals, individual needs and appropriate solutions.
The team provide advice, information and support and work collaboratively with the multi-professional team to ensure our beneficiaries are offered the right support at the right time.
Reporting into the Beneficiary Experience and Continuity Lead you will be responsible for day-to-day management of the practitioner led assessment service, holding a small case load and reviewing and resolving complex cases with the team.
You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders across health improvement and rehabilitation services, to ensure services are integrated, person centred, outcome focused and based on an ethos of recovery.

About You
An excellent communicator, with a can-do-attitude, you will be a registered health or social care practitioner with a broad skill and knowledge base and will be experienced in managing a multi-professional team.
To be successful, you will:
- Be a registered health or social care practitioner, with membership of a relevant professional body
- Have experience of managing a multi-professional team within a health or social care setting
- Have experience of conducting telephone assessments (health and wellbeing), service user risk assessments and delivering advice and information to improve health and wellbeing
- Be able to communicate effectively with people at all levels, both verbally and in writing, together with sound judgment skills
- Have the ability to travel (within the UK) on occasion
- Have a suitable working area and space available that is free from distraction (if home working or hybrid). You will be provided with a laptop computer and access to our telephone systems and digital tools such as MS Teams.
