What the job involves
Prostate Cancer UK are launching the most ambitious fundraising appeal in our history, and we’re looking for a brilliant Appeal Manager to help make it happen. In this role, you’ll be right at the heart of the campaign, working closely with the Head of Appeal to keep everything on track and running smoothly. You’ll coordinate plans, manage timelines and milestones, and help make sure everyone involved knows what’s happening and when.
You’ll drive forward the creation of campaign materials too, from website content and videos to newsletters and donor content. Your role will be to make sure everything’s consistent, high-quality and feels part of one powerful, inspiring appeal. You’ll also keep campaign plans, documents and resources organised and easy for everyone to access.
Working closely with teams across the charity including fundraising, communications, finance and our programme teams acting as the central point of coordination. You’ll help prepare briefings and updates for senior leaders and external partners, support events and meetings, and make sure every interaction feels thoughtful and well-planned.

What we want from you
We’re looking for an Appeal Manager who makes things happen and keeps things moving. You’ll be highly organised, thrive on hitting targets and love the satisfaction of seeing a plan come together. You’re good at managing shifting priorities, recognising what’s most important, and making sure it gets done.
You’ll have experience of working on a major fundraising appeal, capital campaign or within a high-performing fundraising team and know what it takes to deliver brilliant donor experiences. You’ll be comfortable coordinating complex projects with lots of moving parts and stakeholders, keeping everything on track and everyone in the loop.
A sharp eye for detail and a proactive, collaborative approach are essential. You’ll enjoy working across teams, building strong relationships and making sure nothing slips through the net. You’ll also be an effective and engaging communicator, with excellent written and verbal skills and the ability to pull together clear, thoughtful briefings and reports.

The opportunity
In 2026, Mothers’ Union will be 150 years’ young. This is a major opportunity for MU to celebrate with the membership, and also to use the opportunity to reach out to new members and supporters.
The following have been identified as the major activities for the year:
- London, June 10th: Thanksgiving Service in St Paul’s Cathedral at 5pm, followed by a possible reception.
- London, June 11th: Celebratory Gathering of the membership in central London, at the Emmanuel Centre, near to the base of MU in Mary Sumner House, Westminster.
- A physical exhibition in Mary Sumner House, and a virtual exhibition which can tour.
- Between March (Lady Day) and August (Mary Sumner Day) a range of events organized by provinces and local dioceses, for membership and fundraising, including picnics, Sunday Takeovers and local initiatives such as tree planting.
- In South Africa in October, a Global Gathering of 2500 members and guests, preceded by a leadership. meeting (“Worldwide Council”) and followed by a Worldwide Board meeting.
- For all, a cohesive communications plan is being prepared.
Current Status
Individual teams are taking ownership of elements, which particularly for membership and fundraising initiatives include targets for delivery. These are being finalized as part of the current budgeting process
We are, however, a small staff team, and this workload will be exceptional. Teams are discussing interdependencies and synergies across work streams, but there is a need to ensure that these are coordinated and monitored, and any issues or clashes in priority quickly identified and resolved. Throughout, close collaboration between the staff team and membership will be essential.
The role
There is a need for an experienced project manager to join the team, from October 2025 to November 2026, to provide co-ordination across streams and stakeholders, flag issues early, ensure that all activities are properly planned, resourced and within budget, and that relevant stakeholders are kept informed.
Key Responsibilities
In collaboration with each stream leader, to put together a masterplan with associated budgets, drawing together what has already been prepared, and flagging any potential gaps, synergies or conflicts, for resolution.
This plan will identify clearly accountabilities (and how these sit with the wider work of teams and individuals, staff and members or volunteers).
With the leads, to share the masterplan with the Board, for approval, and provide regular reporting, in line with agreed milestones.
For South Africa: In line with the governance structure approved by the Board in September, to be the coordinator for the Steering Group, Operational Committee and on the ground event management teams, ensuring seamless communications, and timely reporting as required; to manage practical issues with delegates from outside S Africa as they arise, for example around ticketing, and to manage stakeholders. This will, and will require close collaboration with the Director of Fundraising and Communications as senior staff lead and almost certainly require one or more site visits.
For centrally organized events in London: To provide the detailed project management under the Membership Team, ensuring that necessary resource is drawn in for support at key times before, during and if needed after the events; to actively engage in delivery on the days, as required.
For Province and Diocese led events: To work with the Board lead to capture and track all events and their impact, and ensure that resources are made available through the central teams to agreed schedules, and reports received back for communications. This will include ensuring a shared understanding of the initiatives, and the benefits for the wider membership.
For Communications: To work with the lead and all teams, to ensure that all are agreed on and understand the priorities through the year, and that the processes in place to deliver.
Impact tracking: To agree / confirm with each workstream the target impact, and to track against this. To prepare an initial overall impact assessment by end November, 2025.
Reporting: The project manager will report operationally into the CEO or an agreed SLT member, and will provide monthly summary reports to the SLT, flagging any issues for resolution, and timely reports for the Board.
Mothers’ Union is a Christian organization, and all events will be inspired by the Christian faith. The postholder would need to be comfortable in working in a Christian environment, and a practicing Christian would be an advantage.
A project management qualification, such as Prince 2, would be a distinct advantage, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management.

Work Location/Hybrid Working Pattern
This role will be based at our Head Office in central London. Mothers’ Union operates a hybrid working model. Staff are required to work an aggregate minimum of 90 days per calendar year (pro rata for part timers) at our Head Office, Mary Sumner House in central London. Tuesdays are our anchor days where every staff member is expected to be at the office. The 90 days includes anchor Tuesdays. In addition, Thursday is a core working day where part time staff are expected to work, either at home or from the office as needed.

- Support with developing the quality of services and projects delivered by Coram Voice to children and young people. This includes under Coram Voice’s Disability Outreach Project. It is an exciting time to join this project, which has recently expanded to include educational advocacy in addition to social care focused advocacy.

We are seeking a qualified Specialist ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor) to join our Advocacy team at Respond. Action for Stammering Children is the national charity for children and young people who stammer, their families and the communities who support them.

Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL) is recruiting for a new Casework Manager to lead our growing and dynamic Casework and Advocacy Service.You will be joining an impactful local organisation at a crucial time in our development. We are looking for a hard working and dynamic leader who can balance the operational demands of casework and managing frontline services, with excellent HR skills and a keen interest in policy and developing partnerships. AFRIL’s Casework and Advocacy Service is a busy, professional team of 4 caseworkers (3 FTE) , a Community Activities Coordinator, and a number of volunteers. The team has grown significantly in the last 3 years, in response to the needs of our community and due to recognition of AFRIL’s high quality and relevant casework provision. The Casework and Advocacy Service provides AQS accredited complex casework and advice in the areas of Asylum Support, Housing, Benefits and Community Care. The service works to fill the gap, focusing on supporting those with complex vulnerabilities requiring wrap around support. AFRIL takes its services to where clients are; holding regular casework drop-in’s at asylum support hotels, community centres and at Lewisham Foodbank. AFRIL is also recently accredited by the Immigration Advice Authority to provide advice at Level 1, in both Immigration and Asylum and is currently in the process of becoming accredited at Level 2.
AFRIL’s Casework and Advocacy service uses casework trends and data to work with community members in order to engage in policy and systemic change. Utilising casework and community co-production, the service has created sector wide resources on asylum support, engaged in strategic litigation and successfully influenced local, pan-London and national policy outcomes. This is a growing area of work for the service and the successful Casework Manager will be required to balance high quality casework outputs and management of a team, while working closely with the Executive Director on emerging policy and advocacy work.

Destitution Support - a fortnightly Food Bank in partnership with St Peter’s Church providing food, food vouchers, toiletries, and other essentials, alongside a warm hub with free cafe, information and support. Small grants for essential items and cash payments for food in emergencies. Securing and distributing gifts in kind, e.g. winter coats, laptops and data.

Allotment of Refuge - a welcoming community of food growers that supports improved health, wellbeing and integration of members, whilst protecting the local environment.

Immigration Project in partnership with Southwark Law Centre, providing free legal advice and representation to support people to regularise their immigration status.

Are you a highly effective communicator with proven success in raising five and six figure gifts from major donors? Would you like the opportunity to work with senior stakeholders to maximise fundraising opportunities and help deliver a meaningful impact on the lives of people affected by dementia?
We are recruiting for a Senior Philanthropy Manager to join on a full-time basis, working 35 hours per week on a fixed-term contract for 12 months.
As Senior Philanthropy Manager you will lead on the management and delivery of our highly successful Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) campaign. You will work closely with an exceptional board of senior volunteers from the insurance industry to deliver the campaign strategy. You will lead on securing income from personal philanthropy and Trusts from within the industry, working closely with Board members on peer-to-peer advocacy.
In addition, the role has oversight and input to all IUAD campaign activities - including communications, events and corporate partnerships. You will lead on relationships with key IUAD board members to maximise fundraising opportunities and maintain their motivation and engagement in the campaign. This role will give you the chance to deliver meaningful impact on the lives of people affected by dementia.
This is a home-based role with occasional travel to London to attend meetings with colleagues or stakeholders, with travel costs paid for by the Society. Although this is a 12-month fixed term contract, we regularly recruit for roles in this area internally so there may be the opportunity to secure a permanent role during the contract duration.
About you
Joining us, you’ll have proven success in raising five and six figure gifts from major donors or equivalent. You’ll have experience of managing fundraising, engagement and stewardship strategies combined with the ability to identify and maximise funding opportunities to meet and exceed targets. You’ll also have good organisation skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyse financial information and present proposals in an accessible format.
Crucially for this role you’ll be an effective and engaging communicator with the ability to influence, negotiate and act diplomatically with senior stakeholders and high-level donors. You’ll have a high level of emotional intelligence and good interpersonal skills, enabling you to network and build credible, positive relationships and build rapport quickly and with a warmth that makes supporters feel valued and connected with a cause over a long period of time.
What you’ll focus on:
- Working with IUAD board members to deliver IUAD campaign strategy, meeting annual fundraising targets for the campaign.
- In conjunction with board members, leading the growth and development of the philanthropic income stream of the IUAD campaign, extending and uplifting current donors and broadening networks to secure new donors to deliver budgeted income.
- Overseeing progress of all additional campaign activities including corporate partnerships, events and communications, working closely with the Development Board Lead to ensure campaign objectives and fundraising targets are met.
- Managing the IUAD Board, in consultation with the Development Board Lead, to lead on recruitment, engagement, and relationship management, to ensure strong working relationships with all board members.
- Delivering first class account management of major donors and board members, creating engagement and cultivation strategies.
- Managing the Fundraising Development Manager, supporting them to meet their objectives and encouraging their development.

The Role
As Policy Manager you will be the driving force of our policy influencing agenda. We count on you to develop nuanced recommendations, grounded in high-quality research, and to work with policy makers to raise awareness, secure buy-in, and achieve real-world change. Reporting directly to the CEO, your main responsibilities will include:

Monitoring policy developments at the intersection of employment and work-migration. In the short term, in employment you will keep an eye on the Fair Work Agency and the implementation of the government’s Make Work Pay agenda. In immigration, you will monitor developments concerning high-risk employer-sponsored visas.

Producing nuanced analyses that spell out the implications of policy developments in a clear and accessible manner, and conclude with actionable recommendations.

Influencing decision-makers, including government, parliamentarians, parliamentary committees and APPGs. This includes evidence submissions, 1:1s, and working in multi-stakeholder environments.

Contributing to research publications that document the systemic drivers of migrant worker exploitation, and draw on best practice to give policy makers options for change.

Contributing to the charity’s strategy, and taking up line management duties as required.
About you
This is a senior role for a candidate who can hit the ground running. We would love to hear from you if you have:

Good knowledge of UK immigration and/or employment justice, evidenced by academic credentials and/or professional experience.

At least three years of professional experience in policy influencing. We will consider less if you can demonstrate other relevant experience (i.e. in research or legal advice).
