High Trees Community Development Trust is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Community Action to join our senior management team and lead one of our core service areas.
This is an exciting and important role within our work, continually shaped by the needs and priorities of the communities we work alongside. While the focus of our Community Action service evolves year on year, it always centres on social action, capacity building, and strengthening community voice.
This coming year will see this work expand rapidly, following High Trees’ successful bid to deliver the local authority contract for capacity building support to voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations across Lambeth. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience in this area – although more important are the leadership, skills and aptitude to successfully oversee the delivery of this vital workstream. The Head of Community Action leads on a diverse range of areas, which shift each year in response to community needs and opportunities to strengthen civic voice and local infrastructures. In recent years, this has included supporting residents to lead community organising campaigns to improve the built environment, coordinating digital inclusion initiatives during the Covid-19 pandemic, capacity building Tenants and Residents Associations and supporting the creation of local neighbourhood plans that put residents’ voices at the centre of decision-making.
As part of High Trees’ senior management team, the Head of Community Action will not only oversee delivery in their service area, but also help shape organisational strategy, grow partnerships and income, and ensure we work as one High Trees – keeping our practice responsive, collaborative, and always led by community need.

About the role:
At King George’s Hostel, we provide a long-established service where people who have experienced homelessness, trauma and multiple disadvantage can begin to recover, rebuild and move towards independence. As Psychologist/Psychotherapist (PIE Consultant), you will be at the centre of this work, bringing psychological knowledge and practice into a service designed to create safety, trust and opportunity. Clients of the service often face challenges including mental ill-health, substance use, trauma and physical health issues, and you will offer both informal support and accessible, tailored one-to-one and group interventions that address barriers and open pathways to change.
Alongside direct client work, you will support staff to reflect, learn and grow in their practice. This includes facilitating reflective practice, contributing to case discussions, and offering team consultancy that helps colleagues work with compassion and consistency, even in the most complex situations. A key part of the role will also involve creating “spaces of opportunity” with clients and staff through low-threshold, activity-based group work that fosters connection, confidence and a sense of agency.
Your influence will extend beyond individual sessions. By embedding Psychologically Informed Environments across the hostel and wider organisation, you will help shape a culture where psychological thinking informs every aspect of support. As part of Single Homeless Project's (SHP) central PIE team, you will collaborate with other psychologists and psychotherapists, with access to regular line management, clinical supervision, and SHP’s in-house training programme. About you:
- Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its’ equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS or Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology OR Psychotherapist with BCP, BPS or UKCP registration or full BACP accreditation.
- Experience of working as a qualified Psychologist or Psychotherapist for a minimum of 4 years including substantial post-qualification experience within the speciality.
- An understanding of complex support needs, including but not limited to mental health issues, Complex trauma, substance use, offending and physical ill health, along with the potential barriers to engagement with services, particularly within an accommodation-based service
- An understanding of psychologically informed environments (PIE) and how service development can be achieved in collaboration with clients, staff team and service management.

The role
As Programme and Policy Assistant, you'll support the Programme and Policy team with the delivery of Art Fund's grant-making programmes by providing administrative assistance and fostering good relationships with our network of museums and art professionals.

About the role
The role will work to assess the needs of people referred to the Pan-London hate crime service known as CATCH, ensuring potential risk or safeguarding issues are highlighted. The Triage Advisor will be responsible for completing triage assessments, one-off brief interventions with people who are assessed as medium need or referring into Galop’s advocacy services or into the wider CATCH partners for advocacy and support.
The work will involve offering them a conversation to find out about their situation, completing triage assessment paperwork and either referring them into the relevant service that will meet their needs or provide one-off support and signposting to them. The service is run in partnership with specialist by and for organisations working with victims of hate crime, including specialists in hate crimes motivated by racism, anti-LGBT prejudice, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, or anti-disability prejudice. Each organisation provides support and advocacy for hate crime victims, including offering clients a space to talk and think through options, helping them plan what they want to do, and offering assistance in getting what they need from authorities.
Your triage work will enable people referred into our service and CATCH to feel heard, supported and reach the right service. You will need excellent listening and communication skills, with the ability to obtain the information you need to assess a case while leaving clients feeling supported. Most importantly, you need the capacity and attitude to become familiar with the needs of a broad spectrum of experiences across race, faith, LGBT , and disability hate crime and be able to provide non-judgmental support to all victims of hate crime at all times – including to those whose experiences and beliefs do not align with your own.
The role is based in Galop’s central London building but hybrid working is available (with an expectation of two days a week in the office).

Job Purpose
The Public Affairs Lead sits within our Policy and Advocacy Team, working to build support for The Food Foundation’s work amongst Parliamentarians and to influence the government to help deliver policies that will transform the food system. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small organisation delivering big impact on the political agenda around food.
The Public Affairs Manager reports to our Head of Policy and Advocacy and will be responsible for planning and delivering our public affairs activity. You will spend considerable time meeting MPs and Peers in parliament and building relationships with their teams with a view to identifying potential new supporters and ensuring that The Food Foundation has a range of contacts that we can call on to support and amplify our policy asks and to raise issues when required.
While this role is focused on political engagement, you will work closely with policy and research colleagues and with our communications team to share perspectives on which priorities it may be tactical to pursue at any given time and to understand what evidence is available to inform engagement.
You will also work closely with public affairs professionals in other organisations to deliver joint programmes of engagement work which leverage respective organisational strengths.

A week in the job will look like: meeting with a Peer that is new to our work to brief them on evidence we have published and our current political priorities, completing a political stakeholder mapping exercise for a new campaign on sustainable diets to identify a shortlist of MPs to engage with, spending an afternoon in parliament to engage informally with passing MPs, pitching a new idea for a parliamentary inquiry to parliamentary staff from the Health and Social Care Committee, drafting an MP briefing for an upcoming debate on the Government’s obesity prevention priorities, reviewing next week’s parliamentary calendar to spot opportunities for engagement, attending a roundtable to share intelligence and discuss priorities for political party manifestos with other NGOs working on food issues, ringing round parliamentary offices to confirm attendance for an upcoming parliamentary reception, meeting with an MP that is closely involved with The Food Foundation’s work to refine messaging for an upcoming campaign.

About the role:
This role is based in our Islington office with the flexibility of hybrid working, travel will also be required to other VS offices across London.
As a Children & Young People's Caseworker, you will be required to:
- Conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments and ensure each CYP receives an individual tailored support package that fully meets their identified needs, including safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
- Provide one to one support to children and young people living in families affected by domestic abuse.
- Effectively manage a caseload of different risk level cases of approx. 12-15 young people and provide specialist support to reduce the risk and increase safety
- Review the assessment of risk on an ongoing basis, ensuring appropriate and immediate action is taken in respect of any CYP facing significant harm, making the necessary referrals to MARAC and local safeguarding processes as required given the legal framework relating to the protection of children and the policy and procedures of the Local Safeguarding Children's Board.
- To consult with and involve children and young people in making decisions about themselves and the development of the service.
- Establish links with relevant statutory partners in Social Care, Education, Health, Police and Housing, with the intention of supporting children and young people who have been impacted by domestic abuse. Attend meetings as required.
- To advocate on behalf of children and young people with experience of domestic abuse to ensure the diverse needs of children and young people using the service are met.
You will need to have the following essential skills:
- Experience of working directly with vulnerable children and young people aged 4 - 17, on a one to one basis, with a proven ability to work in creative and appropriate ways to engage with children and young people

Overall purpose
The Employer Engagement Manager (EEM) will play a critical role in ensuring refugees supported by Breaking Barriers access meaningful, opportunities that align with client needs and labour market demand. The postholder will lead employer outreach and partnership building in priority sectors and embed consistent systems and processes that make employer engagement coordinated and impactful across the organisation. The EEM will support pathways, work placements, recruitment pipelines and workshops by ensuring employer input is actively embedded where relevant.
This is a strategic, hands-on role, the successful candidate will map and cultivate employer relationships, secure employer input into sector pathways, workshops and recruitment initiatives, translate labour market intelligence into programme improvements, and design the operational processes that enable Programmes and Corporate Partnerships to work together effectively. You will operate in a matrix environment, collaborating closely with the Programmes, Corporate Partnerships and Client Services teams but will not hold direct line-management of delivery staff.
The role is set up to be ambitious but achievable within 12 months. The priority is to build tested, repeatable employer engagement practice (relationships, processes, insight-sharing and measurable impact) that can form the foundations of a permanent employer engagement function if/when funding allows.

The Communications Officer will play a critical role in contributing to and delivering The Phoenix Way’s communications
objectives. They will increase public awareness of the challenges faced by Black and Global Majority communities,
highlight the work of our partners, and influence wider change in the funding sector.
This is a dynamic and varied role, requiring a strategic thinker with excellent storytelling, advocacy, and stakeholder

Increase Public Awareness
• Develop and implement a communications strategy that frames the lived experiences of racial inequality through
compelling data, case studies, and human stories.
• Commission and manage research and data-gathering projects (e.g. £10k budget for Equity in Philanthropy report).
• Produce and disseminate research findings in accessible, engaging formats (reports, infographics, videos, blogs, press

Role purpose
RISE strives for a world where people can lead safe, purposeful lives as a result of better relationships within families and communities; where harmful behaviour is marginalised and fewer people are victims of crime. In order to create safe communities, RISE empowers people to break their cycle of harmful behaviour. RISE’s programmes challenge attitudes and facilitate long-lasting behaviour change and are driven by the belief that people can make better decisions, given the right support. RISE are specialists in designing and delivering evidence-based, transformative behaviour change courses within the criminal justice system and wider community.
With the main objectives of reducing re-victimisation and reoffending, and helping to protect the public, the RISE practitioner will deliver a range intervention (individual and group), both in the community and in custody.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a high-quality service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering a service to those at risk;
- Work collaboratively within a multi - agency framework consisting of the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) and local partnership responses to domestic abuse;
- Identify and assess the risks and needs of domestic abuse victims using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.
- Focus on and prioritise high risk cases and provide a pro-active service through individual safety planning and personal support.
- Work with victims of domestic abuse at all levels of risk to help them access services to keep them and their children safe.
- Liaise with Social Services and other professional agencies in relation to any child protection/ adult safeguarding risk issues highlighted;
- To ensure that any issues in relation to safeguarding children or vulnerable adults are brought to the immediate attention of the Safeguarding lead (or whoever is relevant).
- Maintain high standards of professionalism and keep abreast of current legislation, best practice and maintain a focus of continuous improvement;
- Work with victims of domestic abuse to help them access services to keep them and their children safe;
- Understand the role of all relevant statutory and non-statutory services available to domestic abuse victims, and work collaboratively with these as appropriate;
- Provide advocacy, emotional and practical support, and information to victims in relation to legal options, housing, health and finance;
- To record case work accurately and ensure administration of caseload is always up to date.
- To communicate internally within RISE, with victims and with partner agencies about the risks and needs of victims.
- To attend regular case review meetings with the DA Team Leader and Practitioners to share information around the identified risks.
- Manage a caseload of 60-70 service users ensuring each client receives a timely and appropriate service, individual to their needs;
- Support the empowerment of the client, and assist them in recognising the features and dynamics of domestic abuse, and help them regain control of their lives;
- Maintain knowledge of the organisation’s operating environment;
- Demonstrate and maintain a commitment to the organisation’s vision and values, strategic aims and objectives.
- To attend and participate in any and all internal and external training identified as necessary to meet the requirements of the role as identified by Rise Mutual CIC.
Main Duties:
- Establish timely contact with Victim/ Survivors of domestic abuse perpetrators who are referred to attend a DVPP,
- Carry out assessments with the Victim/ Survivors via telephone contact or community visit, using the Safe Lives DASH risk assessment tool;
- Carry out detailed safety planning with Victim/ Survivors;
- Manage risk by being pro-active with Victim/ Survivors, sharing information with other relevant agencies in a timely way.
- Refer and/or signpost Victim/ Survivors to other services/agencies to meet risk/wellbeing needs;
- Ensure Victim/ Survivors can access a place of safety e.g. refuge, if risk escalates to a dangerous/unsafe level;
- Maintain Victim/ Survivors contact and continuously monitor risk by keeping up with all available information while the perpetrator attends the programme;
- Attendance at Social Services Conferences (if appropriate), Risk Meetings and MARAC, advising on any safety planning for any risk issues highlighted;
- Undertake an end of case review, signposting Victim/ Survivors to external agencies for ongoing support where appropriate;
- To maintain up to date Victim/ Survivors records to ensure data is collated for all work completed.
- To offer 100% of Victim/ Survivors to complete service user feedback;
