Often the first point of contact for our clients in Lambeth and Southwark, the Information and Advice Service aims to provide support for residents who may be experiencing social-isolation, low mood, anxiety or depression. The service handles over 1500 enquiries a year from people seeking support for a range of issues including welfare benefits, housing and homelessness, advocacy, family support, disability and legal advice in addition to accessing our mental health and befriending services.

As one of two Advice Service Coordinators, you’ll support volunteers to ensure that the service is running efficiently. You will be in regular contact with clients both interested in and accessing the service to make sure they have adequate support. This may include referrals and signposting to additional or alternative mental health and social support services.

You’ll also maintain the online Community Information Network (COIN) directory, which includes vocational and social opportunities for adults with long term health conditions who are looking for paid work, to move closer to their vocational goals or consider social and leisure opportunities.

Applicants should have experience of providing specialist advice in benefits and housing, managing a diverse caseload and providing advocacy, and possess effective communication skills. An ability to work independently but collaboratively, to be proactive and show initiative is essential for this role.

Successful applicants will be expected to undergo an Enhanced Level Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Are you passionate about offering boys and men the best start in life by providing support to fathers and families? IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. IKWRO is a registered charity which provides advice and support to Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan women and girls living in the UK, who have experienced, or are at risk of all forms of “honour” based abuse, including; forced marriage, child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), or domestic abuse.

The post-holder will be required to work in a confidential setting and provide non directive support to improve mental health and social functioning of women who are experiencing different forms of gender based violence. The post-holder will be professionally trained, accredited and work within the BACP/BPS Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2018) or equivalent. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

·Provide a service in line with BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) guidelines or equivalent.

·To support the management team with the strategic development of IKWRO’s counselling services. 

·The provision of effective and high-quality Counselling and Psychotherapy services to IKWRO’s clients through making use of up to date service standards and IKWRO’s Counselling Guidelines.

Cherry Lodge Cancer Care is an independent charity committed to improving the quality of life for people living with cancer, their carers, family, and friends.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Cancer Information Specialist Nurse, and are seeking an experienced, flexible, and dynamic NMC registered nurse to join our team. 

At Cherry Lodge, we work alongside the clinical care of the NHS in an area centred on Barnet and covering much of North London and South Hertfordshire. We are based at the very friendly and welcoming Cherry Lodge Centre, in Union Street, Chipping Barnet. We also have an Outreach Service with an impact across the borough of Barnet, concentrating particularly on providing information and support to members of black and minority ethnic groups. Our Befriending Service provides additional support for people in their own homes.

Job Purpose:

To act as a specialist information resource for the management of people with cancer, their carers, and families.

To co-ordinate, manage and develop the Cherry Lodge Cancer Care (CLCC) information service by providing assessment, information, support and signposting to people visiting and telephoning the centre. Oversight of interventions and therapies delivered, ensuring the person with cancer/carer/family experience of support feels seamless and is transparent.

To work proactively with primary and secondary care and voluntary sector partners to promote Cherry Lodge Cancer Care and build awareness of the support available for people living with and beyond cancer. This will include further developing relationships with local cancer care providers including the North London Hospice and North Central London Cancer Alliance.

Contribute to the coordination of the day-to-day running of therapy and complementary therapies delivered at CLCC,  including mentoring of junior staff and volunteers as necessary. Working in close partnership with the Volunteer Co-ordinator and Befriending Service Lead.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Information/Service Provision

To ensure people with cancer their carers and families/friends gain access to the information they require by providing the following services:

1. To provide one to one sessions where assessment and planning ensures people are able to discuss all information aspects of their illness (symptom management, treatment, and living with cancer).

2. Provide support, access to therapies and signposting to other local services and support services.

3. Provide appropriate psychological support throughout the cancer diagnosis, treatment and follow up pathway, as appropriate and identified by the person with cancer.

4. Facilitate and support nurse/therapy led groups

5. Act as the person with cancer’s advocate, particularly where informed discussion may affect care management options, by ensuring robust links with secondary care Clinical Specialist Nurses.

6. Deliver support, information, and education to promote self-care following a diagnosis, and reduce risks of future complications. Actively encourage a Health & Wellbeing, enabling approach.

7. Work closely with the Cancer Information Specialist Nurse (Outreach).

8. To maintain a comprehensive, accurate and up to date information resource, including a database of information about local and national services.

9. Maintain professional links and liaise with other units/centres to ensure continuity of care and support for patients throughout their care pathway.

10.  To use communication skills and empathy to impart information at all levels. To work with the Operations Manager to audit the service on a regular basis ensuring that feedback from users of the service is used to develop services further.

11.  Support and participate in service review and ongoing development of nurse/therapy led services.

12.  Ensure clear and concise records are documented ensuring effective communication observing NMC guidance for records and records keeping.

13.  To provide information by telephone and respond to written requests for information.

Managerial and Leadership responsibilities

1. Act as a role model demonstrating high standards of care and providing leadership to all staff in the Cherry Lodge Cancer Care team.

2. Responsibly manage resources utilised within the role.

3. To publicise the facilities and activities of CLCC within the local provider trusts and in the wider community.

4. To ensure all activity delivered at CLCC is recorded on the database and provide regular updates to the Operations Manager and Trustees, helping to identify where there is unmet need in order that new services can be developed/commissioned.

5. To develop policies and procedures to assure the quality of information giving and support, including monitoring and evaluation systems that meet the highest standards, and is in line with activity across the North Central London Cancer Alliance.

6. To contribute to the Charity’s annual and strategic plans by working with the Operational Manager and Trustees to provide data & narrative that will assist in planning future service developments.

Training and Education

1. Support a positive learning environment for all staff – including volunteers.

2. To contribute to CLCC’s education programme by organising talks, seminars and workshops relating to cancer information and support.

3. To lead on the delivery of CLCC’s Induction Day for all staff and volunteers, evaluating its effectiveness by seeking and incorporating participant feedback.

4. Take responsibility for own learning and development needs.

5. Develop and maintain awareness of current local and national guidelines and workstreams which affect cancer information services, sharing a regular update with CLCC staff and Trustees.

6. Participate in regular clinical supervision and have responsibility for maintaining that supervision.

7. Attend management meetings, Trustees meeting and events as appropriate.

8. To understand and comply with all policies at CLCC including (but not exhaustive) Health & Safety, AL/TOIL, sickness reporting and monitoring and GDPR.

Research, Audit & Quality

1. To develop methods of obtaining useful feedback from people with cancer and other users of the service in order to provide high quality and responsive service, and to develop mechanisms to audit the effectiveness of the service.

Events Manager

The Events Manager is a crucial role at the College, as you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the College’s annual flagship conference. As Events Manager, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to ensure this event is executed to an exemplary standard.

You will manage the Conference Committee and work closely with College Officers, Members and internal colleagues including the Creative Content and Marketing, Children and Young People and Corporate Services Teams to deliver our high-profile conference. Helping to ensure impactful campaigns are created to drive delegate registration and engagement, you will also be responsible for producing detailed project plans and RASCIs for the conference.

Reporting to the Head of Events, you will provide support with the tracking of event expenditure, managing supplier procurement processes and negotiating with suppliers to guarantee value for money. Taking the lead on all College relationships with internal and external service providers, you’ll also ensure that site visits and assessments are carried out where necessary, making certain that insurance, legal and Health & Safety obligations are adhered to.

In addition to the flagship conference, you will support the wider team in the delivery of other high profile engagement activities including international conferences, membership ceremonies, regional member events, dinners and a number of ad-hoc events according to College priorities. You will also deliver virtual events as required, taking the lead on researching virtual event solutions to ensure that the College meets shifting member needs.

Educated to a good standard, with demonstratable experience of delivering large scale (1,000+) educational or scientific conferences, you should have a background of working with external professional conference organisers along with experience of working in a membership or not-for-profit organisation.

Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills with colleagues, internal and external stakeholders and suppliers are essential, as are outstanding communication skills, both oral and written.

With a good understanding of project management methodology and how to apply it to events, you should have a sound knowledge and insight into the wider event industry, in order to keep up-to-date with trends, developments, innovation and legislation. Solution centric to enable innovation, you must be able to adapt to changing situations.

Line management experience and the ability to motivate and develop direct reports is essential, whilst an event management or project management qualification, along with experience of running events outside of the UK would be desirable.

The Membership, Policy and External Affairs Division actively promotes the membership, stakeholders and the public awareness of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) and core child health priorities. 

The RCPCH sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. We advocate on child health issues at home and internationally. Additionally, through a variety of activities, the College influences the quality of medical practice for children in hospital and in the community.

The RCPCH has more than 22,000 members and fellows and employs around 200 staff, most of whom work in our London office in Holborn. We have smaller offices in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The RCPCH wants to represent all the communities we serve. Appointment will be made solely on merit. The Alliance for Inclusive Education (ALLFIE) has led the lobby for change in inclusive education for over 30 years, serving as the only national Disabled people’s campaigning organisation working on this issue.

ALLFIE’s vision is to create an inclusive society by ensuring inclusive education within mainstream settings for ALL Disabled people. We campaign for ‘a world where inclusive education is a right, not a struggle,’ and for Disabled pupils and students to be fully included in mainstream education, training, and apprenticeships, with all necessary support. We also create the resources that people and organisations need to advocate/campaign for inclusive education, training, and apprenticeships and to develop good inclusive practice.

Job purpose: The Events and Administrator Co-Lead will manage our events and provide administrative support efficiently and effectively across the organisation to support the delivery of ALLFIE’s infrastructure programme on our inclusive education campaign work.

We support flexible working and large aspects the role could be done remotely, however some travel to attend face-to -face meetings will be required.

We Belong is a migrant youth-led charity based in London. We Belong exists to ensure young migrants living in the UK are treated equally and fairly in the society they call home. We Belong works with and for young migrants to hold those in power to account and fight for wider immigration reform.

In this role, you'll provide high-quality support to young migrants navigating the pathways to higher education, post-education, and employment opportunities. Listening attentively to their needs, you'll ensure that they are connected with relevant opportunities tailored to their individual circumstances. 

As a Youth Development Officer, you'll regularly check in with young people affiliated with We Belong, fostering a non-judgmental environment where they feel comfortable discussing the challenges they face. Your role will be to offer compassionate care and guidance, empowering them to overcome obstacles and thrive. 

In addition to offering emotional support, you'll provide accurate information to those in need and actively engage young people in various We Belong activities, creating opportunities for growth and community involvement. You will work with schools and colleges across London to raise awareness of the barriers to education and deliver a selection of We Belong's Programmes.

SSAFA’s Network & Community team, operating across the UK, are proud to announce this role as part of their strategic development plans.

This is a new fundraising opportunity to help provide support for serving personnel, veterans and their families ensuring that no-one battles alone.

Supported by the Statutory Grants Manager, this role is fundamental in developing, supporting and championing new and existing fundraising from heath providers and local authorities. The aim is to increase income generation in this area whilst raising SSAFA’s profile within local authorities and health care provision. This initiative will require relationship development and bid writing skills to create effective proposals for support.

SSAFA is entering into an exciting period of strategic development within this proven income stream. If successful, you will be the part of a small team with potential for career development.

There will be an occasional need to travel across the UK and to work evenings and weekends at key events.

You will join a small, established and dedicated team who cover the whole of the UK. With regular team meetings and a variety of communication mediums you will be given ongoing support, training and mentoring throughout. We are a remote team and well connected to all colleagues. This supports and drives our determination and success.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate who thrives on challenge. A determined, highly motivated individual, with a track record of securing significant funds. A natural communicator with proven success with bid writing and presentation skills. A confident networker, able to represent the charity to external stakeholders, build strong relationships, communicating effectively across the region whilst working from home.
