We are looking to recruit a Senior Committees Coordinator or a Committees Coordinator (dependent on experience) to deliver high-quality, professional support to FIGO’s divisions and committees, as well as members, partners and stakeholders. You'll be creating strong relationships and deepening engagement within and between divisions and committees.

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre is seeking a Head of Communications to lead our high-performing communications team. The successful candidate will lead strategic, high-impact external communications across the organisation. They will work closely with our global team across 30 countries involved in research and analysis. They will bring talent, enthusiasm, knowledge and experience. This role currently manages a team of five and reports to the Executive Director. The communications team is tasked to ensure strategic and effective media, social media, and delivery of our digital platform to drive change.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic communications: Lead the strategic evolution of our global communications as a critical component of our strategies to make change happen. Drive impact by building strategic media and digital outreach that amplifies the work of ourselves and allies, and influences key audiences. Work across our global team to develop a shared understanding of grand strategy, key audiences, the fast-changing context, and how communications can drive positive change. With the management team, set the organisation’s communications strategy and ensure we have the right skills, knowledge, and connections to deliver it. Collaborate with regional and thematic leads to ensure our communications strategies help deliver the human rights impact our programmes seek with allies.
• Lead the communications team: Support a strong team, nurturing their skills to inspire effective and high-impact communications, with an emphasis on digital first. Ensure the work of the team is expertly planned and executed within budget and meets donor requirements. Deliver our performance management system throughout the year to ensure support, well-being, and accountability. Work with the Senior Management Team to manage strategic and operational opportunities and risks.
• Drive and execute innovative, advocacy-oriented communications: Work with senior management, regional and thematic teams to drive a dynamic approach to communications, alongside spotting proactive and reactive opportunities, building higher-level relationships with journalists and partners, and developing tactical approaches. Play an active role in executing impactful, advocacy-oriented communications strategies for key products and events.
• Digital action platform and technology: Work with the Web Content and Digital Officer to manage the development of the Resource Centre’s leading multi-functional digital platform, and our substantial data as compelling evidence. Develop an understanding of the organisation’s target audiences and ensure we deliver features that effectively support them to effectively organise and present their research data and promote human rights in business.
• Programme design and fundraising: Work with our development (fundraising) team and programme leads to ensure communications, and digital technology work is built into project design and budget, and that funders’ information needs are well-served.

Key competencies and attributes

Strategic communication: At least 5 years’ experience delivering top class communications and expert understanding of how strategic communications deliver change. Demonstrable experience in strategy design and execution. Sharp news sense and editorial judgement; strong grasp of the power of social media to make change happen; and a global perspective to communications.

People manager: At least 3 years’ experience in line management. Experience in nurturing and sustaining a high performing team that thrives in a diverse, and global context. Demonstrable success in supporting project teams to deploy communications strategically for impact.

Project manager: Track record of leading and/or implementing complex communications projects including planning, execution, and evaluation. Demonstratable success planning communications for a busy organisation working closely with allies.

Digital technology & data: Experience of design and delivery of website, digital tools, and data to make change happen. Experience of working with developers to manage and maintain a website.

Human rights, and economic justice expertise: Familiarity with social justice or human rights issues and a willingness to keep up to date. Experience communicating economic justice and human rights issues desirable.

Team player: Experience of, and commitment to, working in high-performing teams that are highly collaborative and focused on outcomes. Experience of working with colleagues remotely, and in multicultural and diverse working environments desirable.

Networking: Track record of developing strategic relationships to enhance communications and advocacy efforts, e.g. civil society partners, consultants, journalists, opinion-formers. Experience building relationships of trust and joint action with allied organisations is strongly desirable.

Languages: Must be fluent in English. Additionally, French, German, Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, or Russian language skills would also be an asset (all languages of our digital action platform).

The Dalit Solidarity Network is a small human rights organisation working to eliminate caste-based discrimination in the UK and South Asia. Registering as an official charity in 2003, Dalit Solidarity Network UK continues to grow as an effective campaigning and advocacy organisation, working on the issue of caste discrimination in the UK and being an active player in the global movement.  Our major areas of work include documenting 'everyday casteism', building capacity of businesses to address caste-discrimination in overseas supply chains and UK operations and working with UK Higher Education Institutions to protect against caste-discrimination.

About the role:

We are seeking a part-time Office Administrator for 2 days/week, initially for one year with a possibility of renewal. The hours can be worked flexibly with prior agreement of the Director. Hybrid-working arrangements (from home and on site) will be considered.  

Main responsibilities:

 

Administration:

· Responsible for day-to-day administration and office management and providing secretarial assistance to the Director & diary management.

· Maintenance of files and records both physical and computerised system filing and computerised database systems and email lists.

· General office management including scheduling meetings, arranging travel, managing expenses, liaising for office management, ordering office supplies, etc.

· Organise and take minutes for key meetings – including quarterly Board meetings and AGM.

Finance and Accounts:

· Assist in the preparation of budgets for donor proposals to ensure all relevant costs are included and that the budget is accurate and comprehensive.

Essential:

• Experience of working in an office providing admin support, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Experience of management of spread sheets for budgeting, financial analysis and reporting

What you’ll do:

• Provide expert telephone nursing advice, support and information on Parkinson’s, signposting clients to appropriate internal and external resources as necessary.

• Develop and update professional knowledge of all aspects of Parkinson’s and Parkinsonism to ensure that the information and advice provided is accurate and based on best available evidence.

• Undertake national helpline work to ensure cover across the helpline’s working hours and in line with guidance and as part of a dedicated team.

• Maintain your own knowledge of the work of the charity and other health and social care providers.

What you’ll bring:

• Ability to provide information on Parkinson’s medications without prescribing or recommending specific drugs. 

• Knowledge of the importance of raising safeguarding concerns.

• Experience of providing telephone support, including use of active listening and questioning skills, and demonstrable digital competence, including online case management systems

Headway is seeking a new Justice Programme Manager who will expand the current services to have a greater impact on police and probation services, improving knowledge and understanding and the support offenders with brain injuries receive.
We want someone who can both oversee the existing projects, such as our brain injury ID cards, whilst expanding the services in line with our new strategy, due to launch in the summer of 2024.

What will you do:

• Develop and implement a strategy for Headway’s work within the criminal justice system.
• Work with and develop key relationships across, police, probation services to improve knowledge and systems for offenders with brain injuries.
• Develop new justice related projects, including working with Headway’s fundraising team, to generate new income to expand the services.
• Work with the network of local Headway charities, to expand their work, within the justice system.
• Manage and deliver Headway’s justice related training initiatives.
• Oversee the successful delivery of Headway UK’s Brain Injury ID Card, including the line management of the project lead.

About IKWRO

IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. IKWRO is a registered charity which provides advice and support to Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan women and girls living in the UK, who have experienced, or are at risk of all forms of “honour” based abuse, including; forced marriage, child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), or domestic abuse.

We work with women and girls of all ages, including lesbian women, bisexual women and trans women. We offer services in Kurdish, Farsi, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Turkish and English. IKWRO offers free advice, advocacy and counselling services and operates a refuge which provides safe accommodation and specialist support to single women at risk of “honour” based abuse, forced marriage and domestic abuse.

IKWRO also provides training for women and girls to help them understand their rights in the UK. In partnership with other organisations, we assist survivors of abuse with accessing English language classes and education, training and employment opportunities.

As well as supporting women and girls directly, we offer advice and training for professionals from the statutory and voluntary sectors, to better understand the needs of the women and girls we represent, the types of abuse they experience and to provide best practice prevention and support services.

We campaign to increase awareness and improve laws and policies to tackle all forms of “honour” based abuse and harmful practices including; forced marriage, child marriage, marital captivity, female genital mutilation, virginity testing and hymenoplasty, discrimination by sharia courts and to push for better laws and policies to protect women’s and girl’s rights.

Purpose of Job

The Fundraising Officer will work as part of the Fundraising and Marketing team and will be responsible for:

• Nurturing relationships with existing and prospective donors

• Sustaining and developing our group of individual and community-based supporters.

• Growing income, including regular giving, donations, appeals, legacy giving, community groups and other fundraising activities.

We are looking for a strong communicator with some experience of fundraising who is keen to develop their career in this area.

About IKWRO

IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. IKWRO is a registered charity which provides advice and support to Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan women and girls living in the UK, who have experienced, or are at risk of all forms of “honour” based abuse, including; forced marriage, child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), or domestic abuse.

We work with women and girls of all ages, including lesbian women, bisexual women and trans women. We offer services in Kurdish, Farsi, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Turkish and English. IKWRO offers free advice, advocacy and counselling services and operates a refuge which provides safe accommodation and specialist support to single women at risk of “honour” based abuse, forced marriage and domestic abuse.

IKWRO also provides training for women and girls to help them understand their rights in the UK. In partnership with other organisations, we assist survivors of abuse with accessing English language classes and education, training and employment opportunities.

As well as supporting women and girls directly, we offer advice and training for professionals from the statutory and voluntary sectors, to better understand the needs of the women and girls we represent, the types of abuse they experience and to provide best practice prevention and support services.

We campaign to increase awareness and improve laws and policies to tackle all forms of “honour” based abuse and harmful practices including; forced marriage, child marriage, marital captivity, female genital mutilation, virginity testing and hymenoplasty, discrimination by sharia courts and to push for better laws and policies to protect women’s and girl’s rights.

The post-holder will be required to work in a confidential setting and provide non directive support to improve mental health and social functioning of women who are experiencing different forms of gender based violence. The post-holder will be professionally trained, accredited and work within the BACP/BPS Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2018) or equivalent. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

·Provide a service in line with BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) guidelines or equivalent.

·To support the management team with the strategic development of IKWRO’s counselling services. 

·The provision of effective and high-quality Counselling and Psychotherapy services to IKWRO’s clients through making use of up to date service standards and IKWRO’s Counselling Guidelines.

·To agree a counselling contract with IKWRO’s clients and provide a timely, responsive and appropriate service.

·Carrying out a small one to one clinical caseload and/or depending on the team’s clinical capacity.

·To manage waiting lists according to the level of risk, delivery plans and organisational priorities. 

·To manage the delivery against targets and in accordance with contract requirements. 

·To lead, line manage and develop the counselling services staff as required.

·To do the clinical supervision of Associate Counsellors and trainees.

·Helping clients work towards a deeper understanding of their concerns;

·Maintain clients’ records ensuring accordance with IKWRO’s policies particularly as they relate to confidentiality and data protection.

·Making appropriate referrals and signposting to other services if needed;

·Attending clinical individual supervision, managerial supervision and training courses;

·Liaising, as necessary, with other agencies and individuals to help make changes based on the issues raised by clients;

·Liaising with IKWRO’s staff.

·Maintaining and updating accurate digital records of all cases and up to date monitoring and evaluation databases as well as writing reports.

Could you be our new Duty Scheme Legal Advisor? You will play a pivotal role in supporting ASAP’s duty scheme at the First Tier Tribunal (Asylum Support) which offers vital, free legal representation for people seeking asylum who need access to justice after being wrongly refused Home Office housing or financial support. 

The Asylum Support Appeals Project (ASAP) is a small national charity which was set up in 2003 to reduce the destitution of people seeking asylum by protecting their legal rights to food and shelter. ASAP delivers three strands of work:

• We offer free, high-quality legal representation at the Asylum Support Tribunal (AST) to people appealing against Home Office decisions to refuse or discontinue their support

• We provide asylum support advice and training to hundreds of frontline organisations, advice agencies and legal practitioners working with people seeking asylum each year. We operate an advice line and online forum (Asylum Support Advice Network -ASAN) for over 1000 members

• We use our strong evidence base to improve policies and procedures on asylum support through closely linked policy work and strategic litigation

Alongside this, we run a women’s project, to ensure we offer a gender sensitive service to destitute women seeking asylum, to train women’s organisations in asylum support law, and to progress policy work for women seeking asylum, currently focused on access to support for those experiencing domestic abuse

We are looking for someone who is committed to access to justice for people refused housing and financial support from the Home Office. You will assist with the day to day running of the duty scheme, ensuring it offers a quality service to appellants and referrers. You will support our volunteer advocates (volunteer solicitors and barristers) to provide high quality legal representation and advice. You will be legally-minded with a strong interest in asylum support and have the ability, after induction and with ongoing supervision from our Head of Legal, to provide advice and legal representation to appellants at the asylum support Tribunal (AST) and answer calls on our advice line. You will feed in to our wider work on asylum support policy and strategic litigation, working collaboratively with colleagues in the policy team to ensure they are kept up to date with issues arising out of appeals.

This is a new, full-time position. Our offices are in East London, near the AST. Under our hybrid working policy, full-time staff work from our offices for a minimum of 2 days per week.
