This fun and varied volunteer position requires great organisational skills, a passion for fundraising and animal welfare, creating input and multitasking As well as general computer skills and telephone skills.
You will be working closely with one of our volunteers, who produces the majority of our larger fundraising events as well as liaising with the wider team. The events will include musical concerts, theatre shows and community based fundraising events that will be run both online and in person. The locations of these events will be in all parts of the UK. You will be required to issue press releases, contact local radio and TV stations as well as help to organise and source prizes for the auction and Raffles. A basic knowledge of event planning and producing an event would be useful but this can be learnt within the role. Expect there to be periods leading up to the events where things are very busy but these will only be approximately 4 to 6 times a year. We currently require support with events in June, September and December. Moore may be added.
The role will require you to be present at the actual event you have helped to plan, being hands-on with everything from tickets on the door, helping to organise the raffle and looking after performers and special guests.

We are seeking a new Secretary to undertake administrative duties to support the board of trustees of the African Bird Club in fulfilling its responsibility for the good governance of the charity and in delivering its strategy. You will be one of five executive officers and as such, have a key role in helping to progress ABC’s status and mission.
The African Bird Club is dedicated to conserving birds and their habitats across the continent of Africa and related islands and furthering ornithology in this region. We raise funds to make grants to support local conservation projects, produce a peer-reviewed journal and are developing a free birding app. ABC currently has over 1100 members from 70 countries and is governed by a board of twelve trustees.
The Secretary is expected to attend three board meetings a year and the annual general meeting of members of the charity, as well as ad hoc meetings of the executive officers and provide administrative support for the running of the charity, as required, with other trustees and contractors.
You must be eligible to be a trustee of a charity, have sufficient time to devote to the role and be committed to achieving ABC's objectives. You must also have strong communication and interpersonal skills, maintain constructive relationships (with other executive officers, trustees and the charity’s contractors) and deal with routine correspondence. Previous experience as a secretary or trustee of a charity would be advantageous but is not necessary.

We have over 250 branches across the UK, all of which help our feline friends in different ways. Branches take in stray and abandoned cats and ensure they receive the veterinary care and attention they deserve, help raise funds, promote neutering and help spread cat welfare messages. What are the benefits to you and the cats?
You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens by helping raise vital funds through fundraising activities. Whether you’d rather be out and about, or volunteering from your own home, there are so many ways to fundraise.

· Knowledge of local community networks (would be an advantage)
Time expectation
This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments. You’ll be part of a team all working together to raise vital funds while having fun in the process!
Support, guidance and keeping you safe
At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.
The wellbeing of our people is important and at Cats Protection we are committed to safeguarding children, adults at risk and all those that we come into contact with as part of our activities.
