Job Title: Trainee Careers Adviser

Reports to: Area Manager – National Careers Service
Your starting salary will be £26,007, increasing to £26,527 after 6 months, (providing you have completed your L3 training and subject to successfully passing your probation. At 12 months (subject to satisfactory performance and progression in your qualification) your salary will increase to £27,058 - providing you have signed your training agreement and commenced your L4 training. Any further increases will be in line with our annual Personal Development Review (PDR) process.

The National Careers Service
The National Careers Service provides free, professional careers information, advice, and guidance to help you make decisions about learning, training, and work at any stage of your career. The service is available to anyone living in England and aged 13 or over.
Through the National Careers Service, anyone can access professional careers advice and support for free via webchat, on the telephone, and face-to-face with a qualified careers adviser in your local area.
Skilled careers advisers can provide support on any aspect of your career journey.
The Team
As part of the National Careers Service team in the Southeast, you will be part of a small cohort of highly experienced and qualified Careers Advisers provide Careers Information, Advice, and Guidance (CIAG) by various methods including, Face to Face, Telephone and Virtual (MS Teams) appointments. The success of team is their excellent communication and ability to support each other on a daily basis.
The Role
As a Trainee Careers Adviser, you will be responsible for the daily delivery of Careers Information, Advice, and Guidance to adults on a range of opportunities, including learning, career paths and employment.
You will have some experience in working with people within the community from a variety of backgrounds using various methodologies to empower customers as they seek to overcome barriers to progression and make informed career decisions about their futures.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate their abilities to achieve their goals on an outcome-based contract supporting others to achieve their goals. You will be organised, flexible in your abilities to support the needs of the charity.
From time to time, you will be required to attend CXK Head Office (Ashford, Kent) for meetings, events and other organisational activities.

Minimum Criteria
· Maths and English GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent)
· Experience or knowledge of education, employment, or training provisions
· Previous work experience or voluntary experience of delivery of information to groups of people in a formal or informal setting
Essential Criteria
· Deliver careers advice to customers from a range of locations, including Job Centre Plus, Libraries, Further Education Colleges, and community venues
· Confident users of IT, highly organised with excellent time management skills
· Full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle for travel across county to support the charity’s needs as directed by the Area Manager
· To create realistic action plans with customers, helping them to gain education, employment, or training with clear and unbiased information, advice and guidance that is based on the needs of customers
· Accurately record all required outcomes and notes using an online database/CRM in line with data protection and contract requirements
· Experience of successfully working towards formal or informal targets
· Experience of working with people from a diverse range of backgrounds
· Appropriate homeworking space to work effectively and uninterrupted
· A commitment to undertake all necessary training for the role including a professional qualification in Careers IAG at Level 4 within the first 12 months of the role

Key accountabilities
Assist the management of Able Child’s brand and external communications, with high quality content.
1. Along with the team, manage Able Child’s social channels, working with external suppliers when applicable, to maintain a professional and engaging external brand.
2. Support the management of a vibrant and responsive website by ensuring content is up to date, professional and engaging; supporting the collection of imagery, videos, case studies and blogs where directed.
3. Produce and distribute Able Child’s quarterly newsletter, contributing with high quality written content and complying with organisational data protection and confidentiality standards.
Assist the management of Able Child’s portfolio of fundraising events.
4. Assist with the delivery of Able Child’s events portfolio when required. This includes but is not exclusive to the London Marathon, the Gala Dinner, the Children’s 10k walk and the Charity Golf Day.
5. Market the events, recruiting, retaining and communicating with participants to support the achievement of income targets.
6. Support with donor stewardship activities post event, engaging new regular donors and supporters to grow our incomes streams.
Assist the delivery of other fundraising work, including but not exclusive to Trusts & Foundations, individual giving and community fundraising.
7. Support the attainment of funds from a variety of Trusts and Foundations, through submitting high quality applications.
8. Support Able Child's individual giving programme, assisting with donor communications, building relationships with donors and growing our income.
9. Support community fundraising activities, empowering existing and newly sourced supporters to independently generate funds through independent events and activities.
Provide other support to the Fundraising and Communications and wider operational teams as agreed, including supporting routine office operations.
10. Maintain our Salesforce database, keeping detailed records of communications, support and donations from individuals and organisations.
11. Support our advocacy objectives, working with the Advocacy team to produce high quality and consistent messaging for use within the international development sector.
12. Support the delivery of unique and ongoing operational activities as required for the effective running of the organisation.
Competencies
Experience
1. At least one years’ experience in a fundraising, communications, marketing or sales support role or similar.
2. Experience of managing or supporting the management of events to, ideally including managing volunteers or supporters to raise funds.
3. Experience or knowledge of writing funding applications, ideally with a demonstrable track record of securing funds from Trusts and Foundations.
Skills and Technical Competencies
4. Creative ability to assist in the production of engaging content for communication in line with the organisational brand and mission.
5. Competency in managing social channels under direction, developing newsletters and other blogs or articles.
6. Basic understanding of WordPress, and other design packages (Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva) desirable.

7. An understanding of contributing to an organisational culture based on inclusivity, wellbeing and empowerment.
8. Excellent time management and organisational skills; ability to work under pressure to prioritise and manage varied workload and competing deadlines whilst ensuring attention to detail.

About the role

SLRA is a well-established local migrant support organisation working with and for refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants who are at risk or in crisis because of immigration issues. We provide specialist immigration advice as well as a broad range of practical, social and therapeutic support services. We also campaign for a fairer immigration system, involving local people with lived experience in influencing local and national policy and practice.
Our specialist Youth Service provides holistic, one to one casework and a programme of activities and trips. We are looking for a Head of Youth Services (maternity cover), who will work with other team members to support the effectiveness of operational activities, leading the youth services elements within the organisation. The postholder will be responsible for promoting the wellbeing, learning and development of youth service staff and volunteers and will lead on safeguarding the young people we work with, along with working closely with the Youth Casework Manager and CEO to manage established partnership projects.

ABOUT TRAIN
TRAIN is a youth work charity based in South Oxfordshire. We support young people aged 10 to 18 in Didcot, Wallingford and the surrounding areas, especially those who are under-served.
Young people in our communities are facing complex challenges. Mental health struggles, pressures at school, family instability and the impact of poverty can leave them feeling isolated or overlooked. Too often, they don’t have access to the right support at the right time. TRAIN exists to change that. ABOUT THE ROLE
As Fundraising and Communications Coordinator, your main focus will be trusts and foundations: researching opportunities, writing persuasive applications and producing clear reports. You’ll also play a part in growing support from corporates, community fundraising, individual donors and major gifts, helping to build a broader base of income over time.
Alongside this, you’ll lead on communications. That means keeping our website and social channels current, producing supporter newsletters, and sharing our story more widely through PR and campaigns. You’ll help make sure the difference TRAIN makes for young people is seen and understood by funders, partners and the local community.
It’s a hands-on role, well-suited to someone who enjoys writing, building relationships and juggling different projects. You don’t need to be an experienced fundraiser — we’re open to people with transferable skills, whether from corporate, public or third sector backgrounds. What matters most is that you can communicate clearly, organise your workload, and are motivated by making a difference for young people.
You’ll report directly to the CEO and work closely with the rest of the team. This is a part-time role of approximately 30 hours per week, which can be worked flexibly. The role is based in Didcot with hybrid working, but for the right candidate we will consider a fully remote arrangement.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
- Salary: £28,598 - £31,022 FTE (pro-rated, depending on experience)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising (approx. 80%)
- Pipeline and planning – work with the CEO to keep a clear fundraising plan, with trusts and foundations as the main focus alongside manageable growth in corporates, community, and individual giving.
- Trusts and foundations – research prospects, build a live pipeline, and write strong, tailored bids. Prepare accurate budgets and gather evidence from the team to strengthen proposals.
- Reporting and stewardship – deliver timely reports, thank funders and donors well, and manage renewals and uplift opportunities.
- Relationship development – nurture links with local businesses, community groups and potential major donors. Prepare simple proposals and support fundraising events or activities as needed.
- Systems and compliance – maintain accurate records of applications, deadlines and outcomes. Ensure fundraising activity is compliant with GDPR and charity regulations.
Communications (approx. 20%)
- Supporter communications – produce engaging newsletters, updates and thank-yous that connect donors and partners with TRAIN’s impact.
- Digital presence – update the website and social media channels with accurate, timely content that reflects TRAIN’s work and values.
- PR and profile – share stories with local media, partners and networks. Ensure TRAIN’s messaging is clear, consistent and accessible.
- Community engagement – promote TRAIN’s profile, youth offer, brand and presence in the community.
General
- Work closely with the CEO to align fundraising and comms priorities.
- Collaborate with youth work staff to gather stories, quotes and data that demonstrate TRAIN’s impact.
- Represent TRAIN at meetings and community events.
- Contribute to the life of a small, collaborative team.

Role Purpose
We’re looking for a flexible and self-motivated Project Assistant to join our team in Newcastle, supporting the delivery of our Home from Hospital and Community Support project.
Preventing admissions, and re-admissions, to hospital is crucial for the NHS. Re-admissions alone cost the NHS over £2 billion per year, and no-one wants to be in hospital when they can be recovering safely and comfortably at home. The Home from Hospital project was developed to help enable people to thrive back at home, and in the community, while at the same time supporting the NHS.
We recruit, train, support and coordinate volunteers, who provide a “little bit of help” to people who may be socially isolated, have health issues, or don’t have many people around them.
Our volunteers provide social, emotional or practical support, completing short-term tasks for up to 6 weeks. This includes tasks such as helping with grocery shopping, collecting and delivering medical prescriptions, in person or telephone check in’s, driving someone to an appointment, helping with paperwork, ensuring the home is safe and secure, and lots more!
As our Project Assistant, you will:
· Work closely with Volunteering Matters colleagues in a flexible and agile way, taking instruction and responding quickly to ensure beneficiaries and volunteers have the best possible experience
· Face to face and telephone contact with older people taking part in the project, completing practical, social, or wellbeing tasks to meet their individual needs
· Administrative tasks including providing updates to colleagues on project activities, processing paperwork, and other computer-based tasks to help ensure the smooth delivery of the programme
· Support with the promotion of the project across Newcastle in order to attract new volunteers and generate referrals – this may include drafting content, public speaking and giving presentations

Hyd yn hyn, rydyn ni eisoes wedi cyrraedd 19,000 myfyriwr wyneb yn wyneb ac wedi cysylltu â thraean o holl ysgolion uwchradd a cholegau'r wladwriaeth yng Nghymru. Yn 2025, ein nod yw cyrraedd 13,000 yn fwy o bobl ifanc — ac rydyn ni'n chwilio am gydweithiwr angerddol i'n helpu i wireddu hynny.
Ynglŷn â'r rôl
Fel Cydlynydd Prosiect Gogledd Cymru, byddwch yn chwarae rôl hanfodol mewn:
- Cysylltu gwirfoddolwyr ag ysgolion a cholegau, gan sicrhau bod pobl ifanc yn elwa o sgyrsiau a gweithdai sy'n ysbrydoli.
- Datblygu a chynnal perthnasau cryf ag ysgolion, cyflogwyr, a gwirfoddolwyr.
- Gwrando ar ac addasu i anghenion pobl ifanc, gan sicrhau bod ein rhaglen yn creu gwerth gwirioneddol iddyn nhw a'r rhanddeiliaid rydyn ni'n gweithio â nhw.
Byddwch chi'n rhan o dîm hyblyg, entrepreneuraidd, a chydweithredol sy'n gweithio o bell ar draws Cymru ond sy'n dod at ein gilydd ar gyfer digwyddiadau, hyfforddi gwirfoddolwyr, cyfarfodydd ysgolion, a chyfarfodydd tîm. Rydyn ni'n gosod disgwyliadau uchel i ni ein hunain ac i'n gilydd, yn gwerthfawrogi cyfraniadau unigolion, ac yn dathlu llwyddiant a rennir.
Rydyn ni'n chwilio am rywun sydd yn:
- Angerddol dros helpu pobl ifanc i lwyddo.
- Hollol ymrwymedig i gydraddoldeb, amrywiaeth, a chynhwysiant.
- Hunangymhellol a rhagweithiol, gydag ymagwedd "gallaf wneud".
- Hynod drefnus, yn gallu cydbwyso sawl blaenoriaeth a glynu wrth derfynau amser.
- Medrus wrth feithrin perthnasau cryf, yn enwedig gydag ysgolion a cholegau.
- Gwydn, taer, ac yn gyffrous am gyfleoedd newydd.
- Creadigol ac yn agored i roi cynnig ar syniadau newydd.
- Uchelgeisiol, yn bersonol ac ar ran yr elusen.
- Hyderus o ran technoleg ac yn meddu ar lythrennedd cyfrifiadurol cryf.
Dymunol:
- Profiad mewn lleoliadau addysgol neu weithio gyda phobl ifanc yng Nghymru.
- Y gallu i gyfathrebu drwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg.
Hanfodol:
- Wedi'i leoli yng Ngogledd Cymru, neu leoliadau yn Lloegr sy'n agos at y ffin (e.e. Lerpwl, Caer, Manceinion)
- Er nad yw'n ofynnol, rydyn ni'n croesawu'n benodol ceisiadau gan bobl sydd wedi profi rhai o'r heriau mae pobl ifanc ledled Cymru yn eu hwynebu heddiw.
Yn Working Options, rydyn ni'n credu mewn:
- Grymuso gwirfoddolwyr i gyflwyno sgyrsiau a gweithdai o safon.
- Darparu gwasanaeth o'r radd flaenaf i ysgolion sy'n caniatáu i ni weithio gyda'u myfyrwyr.
- Cefnogi ein gilydd i arloesi, tyfu, a chael effaith go iawn.
