We have an exciting new opportunity to join our Membership Events team as Membership Events Officer.

Part of a hard working, fantastic team, this role will see you delivering, supporting and coordinating RBL Membership Directorates busy catalogues of events. This includes Annual Conference, County Chair Seminars, Awaydays, Meet-ups and meetings.

This role will see you working within our Membership Policy and Compliance team supporting on a range of high profile events across the year.

Reporting to the Membership Events Manager, key responsibilities will include:

- Lead and manage workstreams for organisation of Annual Conference, including chairing Working Group meetings, coordinating exhibitions, managing registration, accommodation and catering bookings, venue sourcing, IT and AV requirements and more
- Work alongside Membership Services, Communications and Compliance teams, as well as Brand, to collaborate cohesively on events
- Create and distribute registration forms for all events and manage responses and attendee requirements
- Liaise with venue staff, raise relevant payments, negotiate prices and conditions, and finalise event agreements according to changing requirements
- Use appropriate and effective event planning tools to manage workload, deadlines and reporting

You will bring with you experience in events planning and management and strong administrative and minute taking experience. You will be confident using various systems including Microsoft Office and databases and will be an exceptional communicator with groups and stakeholders at all levels.

You will be contracted to our London, Haig House, Hub with a minimum expectation of two days per week working in person at the Hub (one of which must be a Wednesday) and flexibility for working remotely/at home when not on site.

Experience in fundraising, supporter care, or legacy and in-memory giving—or transferable skills from a relevant sector—will be essential. You will also be empathetic and supportive when working with bereaved individuals or those planning for the future.

Experience in legacy administration, event planning, or using CRM systems (e.g. Access Charity CRM, Raiser's Edge or similar) is desirable but not essential – we’re open to candidates who can demonstrate the right values, skills, and potential.

Brent Mencap has been passionate about a healthier and fairer Brent since 1979. We’ve developed and run successful housing, employment, health, advice, wellbeing and self-advocacy services. During austerity and Covid we diversified, successfully taking on NHS work with people with long-term health conditions. We provide social prescribing support and health and wellbeing coaching to patients for Brent GPs. In 2024-25 we helped over 18000 people. We’re a leading partner on the Brent Health Educators Programme.

Our income has substantially  increased from £382k in 19/20 to £1.71 million in 23-24. We’ve had to adapt quickly, developing and retaining a much larger staff group, using our data better and improving our marketing.

Brent Mencap offers fantastic free creative and wellbeing activities for people with a learning disability, autism and long-term health conditions. These have flourished since Covid. People love yoga, poetry, singing, gardening, Breathe and Move, self-advocacy, campaigning, awareness raising, CREATE art activities for young people, external trips and parties. Small grants, donations and our reserves fund this while we get longer term funding. Our self-advocates want us to focus on paid employment, youth services and making Brent Council use accessible information properly.

Our current finance manager has been pivotal to Brent Mencap’s recent growth, adapting to paying more people, dealing with complicated invoices, making sure we get paid promptly, being as diligent about a project budget worth 5k as our overall budget and supportive with staff  wage queries. While there is lots of data input, reconciling, processing purchase orders, the role involves real involvement in project development, monitoring with other managers and face-to-face involvement with users and staff. It’s never boring and definitely not for the faint hearted!!

As Finance Manager for Brent Mencap, you will have a key leadership position. You will be responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of our finances, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements while ensuring our services are sustainable through sound financial planning. You will work closely with the Executive Director and Trustee Board to provide accurate insights and projections that support long-term growth and resilience.

You will play a pivotal role in reviewing and maintaining our robust finance and administrative system and procedures, managing risks and ensuring our charity finances can support delivery of our mission. About the role:

This role is based out of our Chandlers Ford office on a hybrid basis with the expectation of 60% of your working week from the office. Role Description

You would be responsible for:

Unique opportunity to get involved in a conflict resolution and peace building organisation based in central London with responsibility for working to ensure that income meets the organisation’s needs, and in support of achieving the strategic objectives through the development and management of fundraising and donor relations.

The Senior Funding and Development Officer plays a key role at DPI, working to ensure that income meets the organisation’s needs, and in support of achieving the strategic objectives through the development and management of fundraising and donor relations.

The Senior Funding and Development Officer is responsible for identifying and pursuing diverse funding streams; writing applications, reporting back and progress letters to meet existing and future funders’ guidelines; monitoring the implementation of projects to ensure funders’ guidelines are met; and liaising with funders and other stakeholders. The Senior Funding and Development Officer  works closely with the Finance Officer to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to donors.

The Senior Funding and Development Officer  collaborates with Programmes  Officers with regards to expenditure across budget lines to ensure compliance with grant contracts and grants periods. Senior Funding and Development Officer assists the Finance Manager with audit preparations of accounts at the end of the financial year and ensures the timely drafting of the Trustee report.

TheSenior Funding and Development Officer works closely with the Chief Executive Officer, the Finance Manager in the preparation and presentation of the annual organisational budget.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising and Grants Administration

• Leads the development and delivery of short, medium and long-term fundraising strategies for DPI
• Identifies and nurtures the successful implementation of appropriate grant funding and contracting
• Researches and assesses DPI’s eligibility in line with DPI strategy and donor criteria
• Produces and submits grants proposals, expressions of interest and donor reports
• Oversees compliance with funding requirement to ensure that deadlines and criteria for donor reporting are met, including financial reporting in close collaboration with the Finance Manager

Donor Relations

• Manages and develops external relationships as a representative of DPI, attending meetings and public events where necessary
• Follows up with potential donors to open up new funding opportunities
• Conducts regular updates with current donors to maintain and strengthen relationships
• Prepares and oversees the dissemination of external materials such as the Quarterly Update and Trustee Report to all relevant contacts
• Prepares background information ahead of DPI meetings with donors and prospective donors
• Oversees donor communication history, ensuring that notes and information are logged and shared accordingly

Project Development and Monitoring and Evaluation

• Leads process and system improvements/developments to ensure that all DPI material shared externally is of good quality, in line with the strategy and structure of the organisation
• Reviews all programme activities in line with the external environment and donor requirements to ensure sustainability and identify growth opportunities
• Assists the CEO and Programmes team to develop organisational work plan to ensure that all activities and research comply with grant applications and donor obligation
• Develops M&E and risk assessment frameworks to carry out monitoring and evaluation of activities to measure outcomes and the impact in relation to our strategic aims, and acting to make improvements if required
• Establishes close working relationships and develop efficient systems with key individuals in the programmes, research and finance functions, to access knowledge and information needed for funding propositions and reporting
• Maintains close collaboration with DPI staff to ensure sound project management, including by ensuring regular M&E meetings with programmes team are conducted to ensure that donor requirements and output standards are met

Financial Management

• Helps to develop and implement the organisation’s financial planning, budgeting and reporting processes along with the Finance Manager and the CEO
• Collaborates with Programmes Officers with regards to the allocation of expenditure across budget lines and donors, to ensure compliance with grant contracts.
• Assists the Finance Manager in their work on audit preparations of accounts at the end of the financial year, and ensures the timely drafting of the Trustee report
• Works closely with the Chief Executive Officer, the Finance Manager  in the preparation and presentation of the annual organisational budget.
• Ensures that the Chief Executive Officer, and all members of staff, are kept aware of their obligations and opportunities in relation to donors

Administrative Tasks

• Maintains an accurate record of donor information
• Ensures an effective and clean S-drive structure for files relating to grants and fundraising, including financial reports

Essential
• The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years experience  in grant administration, ideally with a focus on governmental and intergovernmental funding with strong numerical skills and some budgeting experience
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including evidence of structured thinking and the ability to inspire confidence and enthusiasm in others
• Self-starter with the ability to initiate projects and see them through to successful completion
• Ability to work independently, but also as part of a small team, on different projects
• Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Strong time management and organisational skills, ability to prioritise, pay attention to detail and attend to multiple assignments
• The flexibility, creativity, judgment and humour needed to work effectively in cross cultural settings
• Good interpersonal abilities for networking and interaction with high level stakeholders at DPI events
• Fluency in English

About the Role:
 
As our Legacy Officer, you will play a vital role in administering UK and international legacy gifts, from notification to final distribution, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely processing. You'll help support income forecasting, estate reviews, and reporting to inform strategic decisions. Working closely with the Legacy Administrator, Legacy Marketing Manager, and global fundraising teams, you'll help integrate legacy administration with broader fundraising goals.
 
The role also involves building strong relationships with executors, solicitors, and international colleagues. For candidates working above 0.6 FTE (22 hours per week), the role will also support legacy marketing campaigns and international programme development.
 
About You:
 
To be successful as our Legacy Officer, you will ideally have experience in UK legacy administration, with the ability to manage a complex caseload efficiently and in line with legal and organisational policies. Strong analytical and forecasting skills, attention to detail in reporting, and excellent written and verbal communication are essential. You should be confident working within a global organisation, with an understanding of cross-cultural dynamics and regional legal frameworks.
